Rating: Summary: Linda Howard At Her Best Review: "Diamond Bay" is Ms. Howard at her best. Strong heroine saves great hero with lots of danger and spicy sex thrown in. This is a good, fast read,
Rating: Summary: Linda Howard can't write a bad book. Review: Another typical Linda Howard winner. Fast-paced action, breathless romance, it's one of those "I wish I was her" kind of stories. A definite must-read.

Rating: Summary: A re-issue that's showing its age! Review: Despite the glowing reviews that convinced me to read this old title, I found Diamond Bay has not held up well at all since it was first released in the 80's. I ocassionally pick up the old books as some of them have a certain charm that is missing in today's romance genre. Not so with Diamond Bay. Kell Sabin was rather anaemic for a hero but the heroine - she made me cringe with her reaction after having sex with Kell. She is the kind of lay a man dreads - who, after having first-time sex, stalks off in a huff with her clothes clasped to her naked body because the man would not commit. There wasn't even time for a romance to develop, just sex. So I found it unreal (in 2003) for a heroine to have that attitude. I suppose in the 80's it was the norm for women to expect marriage after first-time sex. This scene ruined the entire book for me and I had no respect whatsoever for the heroine after that. I also found it unbelievable that Kell felt guilty that Rachel felt she was 'just a sexual convenience' for him. It would have been more like it - in the 80's - for a man to be callous of a woman's feelings than today.
Rating: Summary: Diamond Bay is passionate, sexy read. Review: Diamond Bay by Linda Howard unites together Kell Sabin previously from Midnight Rainbow and Rachel Jones and continues her legacy of crafting romance with heartmelting heroes and heroines. Kell is unexpectedly attacked by the villains on the high sea and is swept to the Diamond Bay where Rachel found him and nursed him back to health. Linda Howard weaves an intricate and emotional tale when the sexy Kell falls in love with Rachel but takes rein on his passion for fear of Rachel's safety. His job is dangerous - and he knows it, and soon after his enemies are on the chase for him...Diamond Bay is a passionate read but even more stirring in the emotions it awakens. It explores Rachel's vulnerabilites, Kell's undying love for her in the line of duty which altogether climaxes in the suspenseful end when enemies hunt them down. Realism aside, this book is definitely a keeper for romantic fanatics - who likes sexy, gorgeous heros and an abiding passion. Out of the Silhouette collection, this is Ms. Howard at her best and certainly jewelled fun and passion.
Rating: Summary: Okay, would make a good read when there's nothing else. Review: Didn't care that much for this Linda Howard book. It's a reprint from a long time ago - did she just dig it up and revise to make a buck? I can't recommend this but I can recommend The Color of Revenge - spicy and hot.
Rating: Summary: A Really Good Linda Howard Book Review: Face it. If you are hooked on Linda Howard, even her bad books are winners, and this is one of the really good ones. Action packed and sexy (and nobody, but nobody writes sexier novels). Kell is a to die for hunk (Yea, yea, I know. Stereotype. But so's Mel Gibson, and I'm not complaining.) Rachael is bright, strong, independent and thoroughly likeable. This is romance with a capital "R" and another LH winner.
Rating: Summary: Another great book by Linda Howard! Review: Having read the trilogy - White Lies, Midnight Rainbow and Diamond Bay - backwards I can honestly say that this one is my favorite! The plot is original, the characters are great (it was wonderful to finally get a handle on Kell Sabin), and it's superbly written. I'd have to say that this is a must read for any Linda Howard fan or for anyone who loves a great love story!
Rating: Summary: My first Linda Howard book Review: I liked it because the woman wasn't an heiress or a princess or a victim or a prostitute. She was a loner who taught classes, wrote, grew her own vegetable garden and enjoyed the outdoors. She had a life, before the guy came along. I thought it was disappointing that she sort of just fell apart and "ceased to care" about her life after he left, but I guess love can do that to people at times. I just liked her. He was okay. A little stereotypical at times. But the action was good. He was a spy running from killers and she helped protect him. It's worth a read and it doesn't lose your attention like most romance books.
Rating: Summary: What do you mean it was written over 15 years ago??? Review: I love Linda's later books, but why most publishers "rethread" books such as this one.
This book, as many being republished, shows its age. Written when the writer was still evolving or when the fashion of the time was the masterful rich man and the -sometimes not so- submissive damsel, who does not know she is in trouble (mostly from him) overcome all obstacles and live happily ever after. Sometimes with a few pages written to fill up the the book.
When I see, and sometimes buy a book, that I read 15 or 20 years ago, I am convinced, each time more and more, that such books should be labeled as republished or at the very list the original date of copyright should be clearly shown in the cover as in "Published in 1979 by XYZ publisher."
Reprints of books help the author because people who like their books want to read more, Then again, some of us become overly cautious and don't buy the book until we stand at the store and read its beginning, middle, and end. And what we end up with is the that the thrill is gone.
