Summary: I love this book. it was a great page-turner.
Review: Jo Beverly has done it again! it's an excellent story with lots of adventure.

Summary: Another Jo Beverly Hit.
Review: Jo Beverly has hit the mark again. Elf Malloren has spunk, character and comman sense, even if she doesn't use it at first. If you are tired of silly empty headed heroines and plots that use a "horrible misunderstanding" to keep it the story going then this book is for you. I have alway enjoyed Ms. Beverly's writing and she has come through for me again.

Summary: A female Malloren makes her bid for love.
Review: Restless and bored with her life of endless socializing and meaningless repitition, Lady Elfled Malloren sets out for an adventure at the Vauxhall Gardens masquerade. Her daring costume attracts more than a few masked males, and Elf finds herself "rescued" by Fortitude Ware, her family's greatest enemy. Wearing a mask and pretending to be a French girl called Lisette, Elf succeeds in disguising her true identity from Fort. She has always felt drawn to this man, but something stops her from giving in completely to her physical yearnings.

Fort finds himself strangely intrigued by the lovely Lisette, and sets about persuading her to become his mistress. When he discovers that she is in reality a member of the family who seriously blighted his life, his anger knows no bounds. It seems very doubtful that he will ever be able to return Elf's powerful love.

Another poignant and passionate installment of the Malloren family saga, "Something Wicked" will not disappoint. I can't wait to get my hands on the fourth book!

Summary: Disappointing...
Review: Something wicked is something not worth reading. It started out OK but then got ridiculous, then got better, even quite exciting, but then it just went staedily downhill from there. I tried to like Elf and Fort (WHERE did she pull out these names though??) but the characters seemed shallow and see-through. I did not feel any of Fort's pain nor did I think Elf was a compassionate, soft-hearted lady. She was just a ditz, mostly a pushy ditz. Pass on this one. Read Beverley's outstanding LORD OF MIDNIGHT and FORBIDDEN MAGIC instead.

Summary: Aptly titled SOMETHING WICKED
Review: The aptly titled SOMETHING WICKED is the 3rd book in the Malloren Series by Jo Beverly. This story tells the tale of Lady Elfled (Elf) Malloren and Fortitude Ware, Earl of Walgrave. Both characters are introduced in the previous books so their personalities are not unknown to us. Fort is the sister to Chastity Ware (Book 1) and Elf is the sister to the Malloren brothers.
Elf decides she would like some adventure and proceeds to attend a masquerade as the French "Lisette". She stumbles upon a treasonous plot and finds her adventure to be more than she bargained for. None other than the Earl of Walgrave is part of it. Fort, introduced to us in Book 1 (MY LADY NOTRIOUS) as a somewhat harsh brother to Chastity, including slapping her in the face for her supposed indiscretion, is still quite harsh and cold. To protect Elf (who he only knows as Lisette) he takes her back to his house and ties her up, after Elf refuses his seductive advances. To complicate matters Fort hates all things Malloren, and blames them for the death of his father, or more accurately causing him to shoot his own father dead.

This story is quite enjoyable, and Fort eventually finding release from his guilt in the arms of Elf explained a lot about his motivations and character.

Summary: So so Wicked
Review: This book started out very nicely. The development of the character Elf was nice and I was also intrigued by Fort and his dislike for her. It was interesting until he found out about her little disguise. I started to read slower and slower with little interest. This was my first Jo Beverly book so I hope that she writes a bit stronger throughout her other romance books.

Summary: My gosh
Review: This is one of the raciest Regency books I've ever read, and I've read a lot! Beware, this is definitely not for those faint-hearted readers :-) I liked the characters and found it interesting that the heroine, Elf, sometimes had more power than the hero, especially towards the end.

Again, this is a very wicked book and the wickedness really suits the characters and the situation so it's not there for the sake of sensationalism. I don't give it a 5, though, because at times I wanted to strangle one particular character for his stubbornness.

Summary: A Must Read
Review: This was my first Jo Beverley book, being difficult to please, I really enjoyed the book. I regret that I found out later it was part of a series of books. I've read three of the five books on the Malloren story and this is by far my favorite. I could not put it down. I recommend the entire series: #1 My Lady Notorious #2 Tempting Fortune #3 Something Wicked #4 Secrets of the Nigt and #5 Develish. The fist 2 are not in print currently but are available via auction. The characters are strong, the plot and storyline is definetly wicked if you are familiar with the etiquette of the era and the trials are awesome. I've read it twice in one month, which I never read a story twice.

Summary: JB did it again!
Review: Well, I personally think JB's did it again! I really enjoyed this one. It's 1 of 5 in her Malloren series & it did not let me down... in fact, it was one of my favorites. Well, to be honest the very, very end was a tad anti-climatic but not enough to ruin it for me. I was absolutely delighted with Lady Elf - she was smart, delightfully fun, & not afraid to go after what she wanted. I did not start out thinking I would like Fort (mainly due to the other books in the series) but he turned out to be a good hero (even though he was a jerk occassionally!). As always the whole Malloren family played a great role & improved the whole story...... just LOVE those Malloren men! lol There were also a couple of other secondary characters that added a lot; some of the conversations between Lady Elf & her friend Amanda were a hoot! As usual, JB added some great pieces of history & gave a very colorful description on the times. Overall a really enjoyable read!
