Summary: This one is Classic Diana!!
Review: After being so disapointed with her latest Mira release, The Texas Ranger, I was so hoping she would return to her classic style in her new Silhouette, The Last Mercenary, which tells the long awaited story of Micah Steele, and believe me, if you are a true Palmer fan......You will be thrilled!! Palmer returns to her unique and familiar writing style which has made her a favorite among her fans. It was exciting to see the remaining single Hart brothers, Rey and Leo, make a brief appearance towards the end, with promises for their own stories in 2002!! Avid Palmer fans.....She's back!!!

Summary: Not so good!
Review: After having read "Lord of the Desert", which I really loved, I rushed to buy this book. The hero Micah is OK but the heroine Callie, Good God, her lack of information is so impressive and outrageous that it seems Callie had never been to school and had no access to any kind of information at all (that includes TV, radio, newspapers and magazines). Very disapointing!

Summary: Super story - Diana does it again!
Review: Having read a little about Micah Steele in earlier stories from the mercenary series, it was surely wonderful to finally get the full scoop on his situation - and, of course, his girl Callie. I have very much enjoyed the mercenary series books, and really appreciate the way Diana Palmer stays with her line of characters, develops the secondary ones just enough to tease the reader's interest for more, and with storylines that consistently provide greater romance/romantic suspense than mystery/thriller emphasis. Let's hope she never abandon's her unique style.

Summary: Please, please, please..
Review: I am a big Diana Palmer fan but I am getting tired of reading about the same old dowdy dressing, "virginal" heroines who give timid a bad name. It is unbelievable to me that a woman (Callie)in her twenties could act as if she doesn't have a clue what sex is and in the next breath have feelings for a man who I felt bordered on the abusive end of the totem pole. Micah came off as an arrogant jerk which only made Callie look worse for the wear. I seen no romance or build up in this story at all and it took me a month to read it after putting it down many times in disgust. I hope her newer books hold more promise than the past few she has written.

Summary: SOOOOOOOO Great!!!!!!!
Review: I loved this book. The characters were so much fun and Micah was definately one of the most interesting men Diana has every created. The story was fun, interesting, and an absolute joy to read. This book is a must read for any fan of romance novels. Once again Diana Palmer has proven herself to be the queen of romance. Thanks Diana

Summary: Puhleeze! What a Farce!
Review: I picked up this book with every intention of enjoying it only to throw it down in disgust a few minutes later. Callie is tolerable as the heroine but Micah is a jerk! I would like to know what woman in her right mind would like to be told what to wear and to buy so that she doesn't "embarass" him in front of his girlfriend at a party. The whole romantic aspect of having a bodyguard/protector gets totally trampled by Micah's overbearing, insensitive, arrogant attitude. He, like the book, unfortunately, does not have any redeeming qualities. Don't waste your time reading it.

Summary: Texas Ranger
Review: Just finished reading it and while different from her norm, Diana still delivers a terrific love story when you need one. Her heros will always make me wish there were still men like them around--but happily I am married to such a guy. Come on gals, no matter what anyone says, we still love a man who is not afraid to show tenderness and be very protective at the same time, right? I love knowing when her books are coming out because I rush straight to the bookstore to get it. Diana's books are the only ones I always buy without knowing first what it is about because I know I will love it, and she hasn't disappointed me at all--I hope she continues writing for many years to come because she makes my world a lot brighter. My husband (who has been bedridden for past 17 years) also enjoys her books because I read them aloud when we are alone and it brings back some very real happy memories.

Summary: A fascinating read - highly recommended
Review: Six years ago Jack Steele found his only son wrapped in the arms of his much younger wife. When Kirby asked her mother if she'd been having an affair with her stepson Micah Steele, her mother didn't deny it. The breach in the family has never healed -- especially for Kirby. Despite her strong feelings for Micah, Kirby had been in his arms only once, which turned out disastrous, leaving her humiliated and hurt. She still carries the scars of that encounter.
Kirby doesn't know how much Micah regrets those hurtful words, or far he would go to save her from harm. But when drug lords kidnap her in retribution for Micah shutting down part of their operation, Kirby's learns that her step brother's nothing like he seemed. As the past comes to the forefront, they will both be afforded the opportunity to heal old wounds. Micah keeps his life very private. Although his family suspects that he lives beyond the means of his trust fund, they don't know he's living from his pay as a mercenary. Beneath the conservative Armani suits lurks a man unconventional to the core. A danger junkie, Micah lives for the rush of adrenalin that comes from risk. As he risks his life to protect Kirby, however, tender passion replaces the sharp impatience he's used for years to mask his feelings.
Diana Palmer creates a fast paced narrative filled with suspense and intrigue in THE LAST MERCENARY. Fascinating in scope, with intriguing characters that must rise above their pain to accept the heart's full measure, THE LAST MERCENARY will keep readers on the edge of their seats. These multifaceted characters as well as the complex plotting result in a fascinating read, which comes highly recommended.

Summary: Another terrific story
Review: There is no other author that is so prolific yet so consistant in writing books that I enjoy. I have adored almost all of Palmer's books that I have been able to get ahold of, and this one is no exception. Yes, it sticks very much to her standard formula, but true fans should expect that. I don't buy the "I usually like her books, but not this one" from some critics, because this is CLASSIC Palmer. Callie is young, virginal, naive and totally in love with Micah who is older, wiser, experienced, mysterious, and fighting his attraction to her for all he's worth. Been there, done that, but that's why Palmer has so many fans - we love the alpha-male hero who gets taken down by the innocent heroine. It has worked in so many of her other books, and it works in this one, too.
