Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: "Forever After" is the first book I have read by Catherine Anderson. It was great, I wish there was a sequel. Lots of intrigue and romance.
Rating: Summary: Forever After by: Catherine Anderson Review: Catherine Anderson has a way with words. She keeps your interest peeked through the whole book. I can't wait for the sequel. She leaves you wanting more. Forever After is a book I can read over and over and still get excited about the characters and plot each time. Wish it was a movie...:)
Rating: Summary: It Touched My Heart Review: Catherine Anderson has done it again. This time in a contemporary love story. The interplay between Meredith and Dan develops slowly but the love between Sammy and Goliath is the strength of this family to be. I've read this book at least 3 times and love it more each time. A definite must for any Anderson fan!!!

Rating: Summary: GREAT STORY; GREAT DOG! Review: Catherine Anderson has written a top-notch novel as far as keeping the reader's interest goes. The characters are believable and so is the story. The scene-stealers, however, are Sammy (the child) and especially Goliath, the Rottweiler. He is some dog! Anyway, the book is a good one, so sit back and enjoy.
Rating: Summary: Anderson = Excellence! Review: Catherine Anderson's obvious intelligence and sensitivity comes through in this tale of a desparate-but-strong mother, her precocious-but-withdrawn child, a big-hearted Rottweiler, and a strong-and-sensitive sheriff. I loved many of the scenes, especially the one of Goliath, the Rottweiler, sleeping on his back in the bathtub, and the classic scene of the daughter washing the sheriff's mouth out with soap (their agreement if he continued using cuss words). I enjoy Ms. Anderson's well-crafted writing, and love her stories. This is the first contemporary of her's I have encountered, but I hope it is not the last!
Rating: Summary: A Keeper! Review: First and foremost, I have never before come across a character as beautifully potrayed as Heath Masters! The guy should be brought to life... the best part about him was that he could laugh at himself and was not afraid to love.. *sigh*O.K. second best thing about the book is the dog!! Goliath was excellent as a friend and protector and showed far more intelligence than his human counter parts. The story was nothing unusual, single mother running from a horrible past, runs straight into the arms of a handsome hunk... what gripped me was the personality of each character, including the dog, was well written. A good mix of humour, weepy emotions and spicy sex! Truly emotionaly satisfying!
Rating: Summary: SUPERBLY WONDERFUL STORY Review: FOREVER AFTER is a wonderfully written story. The characters are so real that you are pulled into their lives as you read. Meredith and Heath are two people who eventually grow to understand each other as they finally confess their secrets; however, the brightest stars in this book are Sammy and Goliath, child and dog, but not just any dog he's a retired canine cop with numerous accomodations. The love that develops between them is truly a heavenly match. Sammy will have you laughing out loud with some of the things that she says. The life that she has suffered prior really lets you know that children can be strong individuals. I hope that a sequel may be in the works for Sammy after she grows up. This book truly is enjoyable. So relax and enjoy.
Rating: Summary: A double review follows! Review: I bought a copy of this to read on a plane but fell asleep instead (fortunately!) so it had to wait a couple of weeks before I picked it up. Once I finished it, I thought - hey - I know this plot - and so a look on the shelves found a copy of Susan Andersen's "Exposure".
Both are the story of an abused or misused woman with a small daughter, on the run from someone who wants to possess them in a most nefarious way. Each fetches up in a remote part of the US and each manages to find accommodation right next door to the local sheriff. The local sheriff in each case has a traumatic past and is in deep need of the love of the right woman. Bad man arrives and after some hair raising difficulties, the bad man is seen off by the sheriff (who has fallen love with the daughter and mother) and instant family lives happily ever after.
However, where these two stories are very different is in the nature of the heroines - in this book Meredith Kenyon is strong but a bit namby-pamby (and this makes it even more surprising because she is in the middle of an "I married the mob" story). In the case of "Exposure" by Susan Andersen, once you get around the stupid emphasis on our heroine's tacky New Orleans drawl, the heroine, Emma Sands, is feisty, smart, cocky yet very vulnerable. The two tiny daughters are different in that Meredith's is terribly traumatised (very moving) but Emma's is a chip off her mommy's block and despite the baby talk, she is one of the better child characters I've encountered.
Our two sheriffs - Heath Masters in this story and Elvis Aaron (!!!) Donnelly in "Exposure" are both the survivors of difficult and dysfunctional childhoods but, given the choice, Elvis wins hands down for pure sexual attraction. I love the fact that his mom was the town trick turner but, despite it all, he loves her, looks out for her and for the most part is just plain infuriated by her. He's a huge hunk of a man whose vulnerabilities are far more endearing and attractive than Heath Master's problems.
I thought the supporting dramatis personae in "Exposure" was more amusing. At times "Forever After" seemed like a two-hander and the other members of the cast added very little to the overall story and development of the two main characters.
I'd give "Exposure" 5 stars - no problem - but this one gets four purely because I found it entertaining and a good read although I was not as "involved" with the H/H. However, after two of her books in quick succession, I'm not sure that I will be in rush to try again soon. I've not read anything else by Susan Andersen - I'll have to see if she can hit the spot again.
Rating: Summary: Oh please! Review: I suppose I just couldn't get past the "sweetkens" endearment and the constant mistrust of Heath even though he did nothing but help Meredith. Her account of how Dan treated her... spiders and guns during intimacy was too much for me to believe. I did like Sammy and Goliath. I do love dogs. Just my opinion.
