Summary: A Book to Stay Up With . . .
Review: . . . and that's exactly what I did. To be honest, I am not a fan of tortured heros in romance novels, for too many come across as immature, callous, even emotionally abusive. So, despite the glowing reviews from Amazon.com readers and The Romance Reader website, I still approached Rexanne Becnel's DANGEROUS TO LOVE with some degree of wariness. Well, Ivan Thornton is certainly an imperfect hero, but to my surprise he engaged my sympathy through much of the book, and I was glad that Lucy Drysdale was there to challenge him and to love him every step of the way. My hat off to Rexanne Becnel for creating such passionate characters as Lucy and Ivan and telling a most satisfying story of their rocky road to love, understanding, and reconciliation.

(By the way, I was quite intrigued by Ivan's best friend, the cynical and enigmatic Elliott Pierce, who seems to have a hand in bringing Ivan and Lucy together. I wondered if the author has any plan to write a story about Elliott. If so, I sure would like to read about it!)

Summary: Captivating
Review: A very good plot and a captivating hero and heroine. Very unusual and refreshing to find a heroine so advanced in age (28!!). I got a little impatient at the end when it takes Ivan so long to come around -- 4 months!! -- but overall a very touching story, with some realistic elements you don't often find in romance novels. The supporting characters were very well done, and I would also love to hear more about Elliot Pierce!

Summary: One of her best!
Review: All I can say is, wow. This is one of her best books, and that's saying a lot. :) Ivan wants to get back at his grandmother for stealing him from his family and putting him in a hellhole for bastards to make him become more "proper." Her greatest wish is for him to marry and carry on the family name/line, so he decides to woo society maidens, then spurn them cruelly. His grandmother believes she's outsmarted him, however, with scholar Lucy and the grandmother's very beautiful niece Valerie, whom Lucy is chaperoning. She pretends to refuse to allow Ivan near the two women for the express purpose of sparking his anger into taking one of them, but Ivan catches on to her plan. However, his attention is honestly turned to Lucy, and he pursues her even as she tries desperately to run away. Can Ivan ever love after being betrayed so much in his past, as Lucy wants, or will she have to accept only his adoration and lust?

I recommend this one. I'm not a big name in any business, but I loved this book a lot. It's on my keeper shelf, and it gets pulled down a lot so I can reread scenes that are my favorites. :) You'll really love this book, I can promise that. All of Rexanne Becnel's books are must-reads, and this one is DEFINITELY no exception. :-)

Summary: She is the very best!!!!!
Review: Does anyone write better than Becnel??? I don't think so. I wasn't disappointed this time either. If you get a chance read everything she has ever written she can make love seem so easy even in the most dismal of circumstances. I love this book best!!!

Summary: dangerous to love
Review: Gimme a break! It was slow in the beginning, good in the middle and down right painful in the end! Ms. Becnel does a good job with a plausable romance as far as the characters go in the beginning. But by the end of the book there is no way she would continue to love him. He abandons her completely and she keeps making excuses for him. He never makes amends. Finally on the last page he admits his love, but never truly apoligizes for disrespecting her and hurting her. Plus the heroine is supposed to be so outspoken that she could never find a man to truly love. When she finally does fall in love with this difficult man, she becomes spineless. She lets him walk all over her. Not to mention the terrible ending that's supposed to be a tear-jerker and ends up being just stupid. Not even that event caused him to tell her he loved her. What a waste of time.

Summary: WOW!
Review: I found it hard to put this book down and get some sleep. Very well written. This was the first book by this author that I have read and I went out and bought some more of her books. The character were mature (28 yrs old) and very sexy. the hero was hard but you couldn't help but care about him. And the heroine hung in there and didn't run off like so many of them do. She gave him what he needed and he finally realized he was loved and he could love. An added plus was that the love scenes were fantastic. I needed time to recover when I finished this book, it did bring tears to my eyes. Don't miss out!

Summary: A poignant, sensual read.
Review: I found Ivan and Lucy to be intriguing characters and the author made me care about them. I've always like stories about the Gyspies, for I believe they are a misunderstoood people. I felt for Ivan because he was sold to his uncaring grandmother, who put him in a school where he was abused for years, just because of his Gypsy blood. The author made me understand Ivan's motivations and behavior. I also like Lucy, who was able to stand up to Ivan and make his see that he was lovable and could love, if he only let himself. The way the author created a scene of closure between him and his grandmother was also good. She helped to free him and that's what he needed.
