Rating: Summary: Sensual Review: I loved the story line and the characters. I thought it had just the right amount of action, character build up, suspense and loved the part where Willow "gives in". I saved the book and read it a second time and sometime in the future might even read it a third!!
Rating: Summary: Great Characters, Good Story! Review: I strongly disagree with the reviewers who claim there is little or no plot to this wonderful tale of 2 strangers; a somewhat naive but intelligent young woman & her hired travel guide, a hardened gunfighter, who both seek the same man for different reasons. Boring, never!! Romantic, absolutely!Their journey across the Colorado Rockies, with the woman's prized Arabian horses in tow, is wonderfully descriptive & full of adventure & hardship. While the plot is not particularly complex, I found it to be an enjoyable account of a long & arduous journey. It also provides a framework for the portraits of the 2 protagonists. The characters of this extraordinary woman & man, & the development of their relationship, make reading this book worthwhile. Willow Moran is bright, spirited, couragous & caring. Caleb Black may be obsessed with revenge, but he is also a man with a stong sense of integrity & a very sweet & tender side. Both of them together are dynamite! I like Caleb & Willow as human beings, complex & out of the ordinary. And I loved reading about the Arabian horses...an added plus. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Rating: Summary: BORING!!! Review: I too had the unabridged recorded book. It was a major yawn and I kept thinking when it would ever end. I found myself fast-forwarding through the tapes waiting for Caleb to met-up with Reno, the brother of Willow. Well after fastwarding through many tapes still no meeting with Reno. Unfortunately, I cannot torture myself any longer. The pain must end; therefore, I will not finish this book. Do not waste your money by purchasing this book. Luckily, I got it from the public library.
Rating: Summary: Sensual romance in the Colorado wilderness. Review: If you're a fan of romance, you definitely need to discover Elizabeth Lowell, and "Only His" is a great place to start. This is the first in a series of 4 novels about the Moran siblings and life in the Colorado wilderness after the Civil War. Lowell always does great research, but her true forte is creating unique and wonderful characters. This is the story of Willow Moran, the only daughter in the Moran family, who following the death of her parents goes in search of one of her brothers, Matt Moran, in the Colorado Rockies. As her guide she hires Caleb Black, a tall, dark and handsome man who, unbeknownst to Willow, has his own score to settle with Matt Moran. Despite Caleb's misgivings, Willow handles the harrowing and dangerous journey across the wilderness surprisingly well, and the two are increasingly drawn to one another. Only Caleb knows that there is certain tragedy ahead when and if they find Matt. Both of the main characters are very well-drawn, and Lowell masterfully builds the sexual tension between them. The love scenes are steamy and the action scenes are very compelling. I ususally would skim through gun battles, but Lowell does such a good job that you won't want to miss them. You'll be sorry to see this book end. Luckily it's just the beginning of the Moran saga!
Rating: Summary: Only okay! Review: It was a nice story. An okay romance, but I didn't see character or plot. What's so exciting about a man and a woman chasing another man? Must be the bad guys who were chasing the man and the woman -- I don't know. A real sleeper.
Rating: Summary: Ho Hum. Review: Scanning through the reviews, I was beginning to think that this book read better than it sounded on tape (unabridged version by Recorded Books), but I finally found a review that mirrored mine. I have read some very, very, good books by Elizabeth Lowell, but she struck out on this one. I found myself fast-forwarding through the .... scenes because the dialogue was so cliche, and it was so much it was BORING. All I wanted was to hear about the fireworks that I expected to occur when Caleb met up with Reno. All there was was Fizzle. I checked out the Only You book on tape (unabridged, also by Recorded Books), but am returning it to the library without wasting my time. Try the first 2 books in the Jade series by Elizabeth Lowell.
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: Since this is the first book I have read by Lowell, I have nothing to compare it to, so I wasn't dissappointed by this one. I actually thought that it was excellent. Willow was not a whiney or stupid heroine. She had fortitude and courage and was willing to persevere no matter what was thrown her way. I also adored Colin from the start of the book. I admired him for seeking to avenge his sister, but I thought he could have found a better way of doing it, but that was the only thing I disliked about him. He was sexy and smart, and was fairly tolerant of Willow when some other men might have been far less gallant. The ending and the way in which the book was resolved was pleasing as well. It was not overly predictable and was actually very sweet. I look forward to reading the other books in this series. : )
Rating: Summary: I'd give less stars if I could... Review: Sure, I don't read a lot of western-set romance, but you never know when you might find a gem in there-Julie Garwood's For the Roses series case in point. This one was a let down, however. They didn't do anything! Sure, Caleb and Willow are looking for her brother (or husband, depending on who you ask) so Willow can help him and Caleb can kill him. Except the pair spent the whole time either making camp, talking about being followed or having sex. Yawn. There was no tension, no suspense-oh, yeah, and no plot! Dull. But hey, give a girl a chance, right? I read the second in the series (I'd bought them the same time, so why totally waste my money and toss it?) and it was just as boring. With the exact same lack of plot. Sorry, but try another one on the shelf.
Rating: Summary: Great as Always, But can be Better Review: The "Only" series were a great read, but I noticed a similarity in all of the plots. May have been better if Lowell could try different plots? But nice phrases, touching stories, so great! I recommand Lowell books to all newcomers! :)
