Review: I have never come across another book I've enjoyed more. The only novels that come close would be Ms. Spencer's other writings. She's incredible. After you read this, run out and get everything she's ever written. I re-read them constantly. I've yet to find an author who can compare. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! I doubt it!

Review: I have never really been into books. My mother is a constant reader and one day she handed me Hummingbird. I put it away for a year until one day I just decided to give it a try. WOW!!! I cannot express how much I love this book! I truly wish Jesse was real and that I were Abigail (without the attitude!). I never wanted this book to end! Never before have I felt so moved by characters and truly felt their love and need for each other. Can't say enough about Hummingbird except Read It!

Review: I have read all of LaVyrle Spencer's books but this is by far my favorite. I very rarely reread a book but I just read this one again for the fourth time. The last scene where Jesse is taking Abbie's picture is one of the best scenes I've ever read. I highly recommend this book.

Summary: Some Slow Segments
Review: I have read many of Ms. Spencer's books and this book was so-so. I was intrigued with the first few chapters, however there was constant bickering between the two main characters... Sometimes amusing and yet other times, I just wanted it to stop. I saw a great character arc for Abbie, but I didn't feel that Jessie really changed in any way throughout the book. He affected her character arc, but she did nothing to bring him to a different level. The whole gun thing really didn't work for me. Some readers would find this book in really poor taste, yet I agree that others would enjoy it.

Review: I just recentley started reading Lavyrle books. They all have been so fun and keep me so involved. I do not want to put them down. I am very sad to found out she has retired. This book is wonderful. I was hoping Jesse would return but didn't know what was going to happen until right up to the last page. I wish there would be a sequel to these to characters. Abbie and Jesse. Please Ms. Spencer don't quit now. I am working on your 6th book and I am not going to quit until I read them all. Everyone has been quite the page turner and I have never cried so much when reading books usaully just movies. Hummingbird couldn't get any better. Thankyou for sharing all your talent with us. You are grand.

Review: I like Spencer's writing style and the way in which she constructs her characters - they are real and more three dimensional than those of most other romance writers. Hummingbird is no exception. It is a sweet, touching story of the way a 33-year-old "old maid", Miss Abigail MacKenzie, finds love. The beginning might be quite slow but the ending is great.

Review: I loved this book from the first page. It was an excellent period piece with humor, excitement and romance. The two main characters were like oil and vinegar from the start and this kept up interest as their stories unfolded and they found each other. Lavryle Spencer is at her best in this book.

Review: I was first introduced to this book by my friend and once I read it and couldn't put it down and I had to get all of LaVyrle's books and read them old as well as new. I miss your books and I wished you'd write more. Thank you for writing all of your books not just this one about the hot, JESSE DUFRAYNE. I would love to see you write again!

Summary: This is supposed to be romantic!?!
Review: I was shocked by the story of HUMMINGBIRD. The guy pulls a gun on her and makes her kiss him. But because she likes it it's romantic. Had she any self-resptect she would have thrown him out, wounded or not! I enjoyed the era of the book, Spencer is fault-less when it comes to her description of clothes, scenery and people. But the whole gun thing--come on!

Review: It has been several years since I first read this book, but I've read it more than once. I loved everything about this book, especially the little touches of humor. I'd recommend it to anyone who loves a good romance.
