Summary: Great Comeback!
Review: This book was great! I really enjoyed the characters. The book was easy to read-- it was a fun read. Marcus Majors did an excellent job with the characters and dialogues. You can relate to the situations in the book and also feel what the characters were feeling. I read his first book and enjoyed it, but this one is better. I hated for the story to end. I definitely recommend this book. The third time's a charm--can't wait

Summary: Major Home Run
Review: This book was extremely hilarious and is a must read, especially for women. It's nice to get a man's perspective on relationships and how they view women in general. This book also gives insight to there being good and bad in both men and women. Men often get a bad rap from a lot of women about how "No Good" they are. But Major sets you up to see that is down right false and if someone you're with is "No Good" then what does that say about you. Besides making a huge point it is sooooo entertaining and uplifting.

Summary: Definitely worth reading!!
Review: I have to say, that this has been one of the best books that I've ever read so far by a male author. Honestly, I have to admit that I can be quite biased about male authors as opposed to female authors when writing from a female perspective, but this book was well written. The female characters in the book actually seemed real, and that's one of the things that I liked about the book. I thoroughly enjoyed the writer's ability to convey the dialogue of the characters as actual conversation, and bring to "life" characters that are similar to people we know. I found it interesting how the author was able to tie characters from his other novels/short story into this piece. The only downside about that is that it kinda spoiled the outcome for one of his other books that I planned to read, but it's still very creative! I've never laughed so hard at a book before! Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone thats looking for a lighthearted read, full of laughs, laughs, and more laughs!!

Summary: Decent idea marred by bad exposition
Review: The idea is interesting: 4 friends torn over how to deal with an old friend's growing sister whom they've cared for over the years. It's the execution that kills this book, the voice in which the story unfolds. Rather than show us the story, Major has his characters TELL us everyone's backstory, which leads to a lot of dishonest dialogue. We're often subjected to groaners like scenes in which characters reveal things about one another out loud that people who've known each other most of their lives would already know.

Example: After being appluaded for buying a car as a graduation gift for the young lady in question, one of the guys says, "We've been planning this for two years."
"Yeah, pooling our money, putting aside some each month," Dexter explained. "The same way we did to buy those rental units we own."
"And the way we did back when we were still in college to get Ibn the start-up money for his business," Mike added.

Good God, have these people actually MET before this moment?

Not to mention that some of these brothers are just flat-out corny at times. Some of the dialogue and prose goes absolutely nowhere and the jokes fall flat. It oftentimes ends up reading more like a product placement brochure ("She picked up a bottle of Snapple iced tea...") than an novel. When you're describing your characters as "looking like something fresh off the pages of 'Ebony Man'", I mean come on. It's fine if some lunk-headed character says this, but the narrator?

VERY light reading. So light you may want to pass it up altogether. Or you can get a copy from the library and count the groaners.

Summary: No male Waiting to Exhale here. This book is good!
Review: I liked Marcus Majors' short story and writing style in the anthology "Got to be real", so I bought this book to check out some more of his work. He did not disappoint. This book has excellent characterization and once I started reading it, I could not put it down. The characters spring to life and as the central romance starts heating up, I couldn't help but smile. I found myself hurrying up my daily chores and tasks just so that I could get back to reading the book. I even kept it close to me to read when my tv shows went to commercial. This book is going onto my favorite's list right along with "Between lovers" by Eric Jerome Dickey and "The Coldest Winter Ever" by Sister Souljah. Loved it!

Summary: Marcus Does It Again!
Review: I read Good Peoples last year and I found it to be really enjoyable. I laughed more as I read Good Peoples but I thought that 4 Guys And Trouble had a lot more substance to it. These were characters that I could identify and relate to, especially Colin and Mike. Marcus covers a lot of ground with this one from cheating to unwanted pregnancies. I like the style of Major's writing because he can get his points across without you feeling like you're getting repeatedly bashed over the head. Readers looking for a great follow-up to Good Peoples should find themselves satisfied with his second effort!

Summary: Exceptional Reading
Review: When I began 4 Guys and Trouble I was hooked by the exceptional dialogue and the diversity between the characters. Al being a black man myself I was proud to see four successful black men. The book also shines on the groups love towards Bunches and their devotion to their fallen friend Trevor. Overall I would recomend this book to any avid reader.

Summary: He Just Keeps Getting Better and Better
Review: Marcus Major without doubt has a flair for words. I read "Good Peoples" last year and thought I really like way this guy writes and after just finishing "Four Guys and Trouble", I love the way this guy writes.

Not only did this novel keep me laughing til the very last page and I mean that literally -- cause the last few lines had me on the floor in tears. I can't begin to express how much I enjoyed this story of true friendship in every sense of the word and it's one story that I won't forget for a long time. I'm going to miss Mike, Ibn, Dexter, Colin and Bunches because for the past few days they were a part of my family. My compliments to the author. I faithfully await your next release.

Summary: Loved It
Review: This was the first time I've read a Marcus Major book. I really enjoyed it. I was really caught up into the story...so much so I was ready to kick Stacy into yesterday!
I LOVED Bunches!!! She always knew how to check the frats when they needed to be checked. I liked the fact each character was going through issues that were different from one another. I'm looking forward to some more of Mr. Major's novels!!!!!

Summary: Major's Does It Again
Review: Major's first gave us a taste with characters, Kenya & Amir, in his Got To Be Real short story..He then followed up with a well grounded look at the relationship between Myles & Marisa in 'Good Peoples'.....Now Major is back with '4 Guys and Trouble'. As an only child, this book will help you realize that not all family is blood related as well as give younger female siblings a new perspective on those older, annoying brothers. 4 Guys and Trouble also allows you to re-experience your first crush and the true love that kept your Grandparents married for 50 years....Major Kudos to you Marcus!
