Rating: Summary: Great story - wonderful characters! Review: If you are interested in seeing what I thought about this book, please check my review of "Forever After" by Catherine Anderson. The stories are strikingly similar and I have compared them in a review of that book. This one wins in my view - how can one help but love Elvis Aaron Donnelly!
Rating: Summary: Silly Favorite Review: My favorite romances always have an element that makes me laugh, and this book definitely delivers. It is one of my all time favorites. I've re-read this book so many times that the cover is falling apart. I can hear Emma's southern drawl as I read it, and the characters are wacky and funny as they fall in love. It has a little suspence tying the story together. If you want a light hearted romance to spend a few fun hours with, consider this book.
Rating: Summary: surprised to enjoy this one so much Review: Not normally enjoying the romance/suspense combination I was a little hesitant to buy this one BUT Susan Andersen has written a thoroughly enjoyable story. Loved the two main characters - especially the mature way they communicated and dealt with their problems. The description of the good and bad things about small-town life were also realistic. If you have enjoyed her other books do buy this one - if you haven't yet discovered her talent - what are you waiting for?
Rating: Summary: Exposure is a great romantic suspense! Review: On the run from her past, Emma and daughter Gracie, stop in Port Flannery, Washington. Emma meets Sheriff Elvis Donnelly. The attraction between physically-flawed Elvis, and practically-perfect Emma is what makes this book so good. Emma's a truly strong heroine; and, Elvis is less confident in himself, than most heros in the romantic suspense genre. When Emma's past catches up with her, Elvis becomes Emma's and Gracie's protector. Little surprizes occur, that keep the suspense and action moving. This is an excellent book. And while not as dark as Ms. Andersen's earliest books (Obsession, Present Danger, Shadow Dance), it's nothing like either of her "Baby" books. Humor is very subtle.
Rating: Summary: SEXY, WONDERFUL CHARACTERS AND AN ADORABLE CHILD Review: SECOND SUSAN ANDERSEN BOOK I'VE READ AND I LOVED IT! I REALLY GOT INVOLVED IN THE CHARACTERS AND THOUGHT ABOUT THE BOOK AFTER I FINISHED IT. GREAT READING!
Rating: Summary: wonderful book Review: This book has everything you can ask for in a romantic suspense. It has humor, sexual tension and a great plot. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting a good read.
Rating: Summary: A MUST READ! Review: This book is wonderful. Like many of the reviewers, I usually am more annoyed then anything with kids in books especially talking baby talk. But this little girl is so cleverly portrayed. What makes her special is her constant defense of Elvis the hero in the story. He is badly scarred and disfigured but she will defend him to the end because he is handsome to her. The characters are great and so likeable. I like Emma who is strong and stands up for herself. I like the little girl which surprised me. The romance is great. The suspense doesn't really heat up til the end but when it does...look out! I was so into it I wished I could jump in the book and join in the fight! It's a rare book that gets you so involved. I highly recommend this book. It's a keeper.
Rating: Summary: Not her best effort Review: This book was disappointing. The hero's name, Elvis Aaron, was a bit trite. The plot had potential, yet I found the dialogue between the main characters sadly lacking. I found it to be a difficult book to finish.
Rating: Summary: New "Awlins" Drawl + Excessive Baby Talk = Gritted Teeth Review: This had the potential to be a good book. I like that the hero is not perfect. He had scars on the outside as well as the inside. However, I just couldn't finish reading it because of the excessive focus on Emma's baby. Pages of dialogue were taken up by baby talk. I've got nothing against children in a romance novel, but they shouldn't take up as much space in the dialogue as the hero & heroine do. Also, Andersen paints Gracie (the 3-year-old) as an ideal child, much in the same vein as a Disney character. It's totally unrealistic. Besides this annoyance, there's also the heroine's accent. I notice that Andersen has a tendency of overkill on the accent thing. She did this in one of her other novels (I think it's PRESENT DANGER, but I can't be sure). I come from down south and, unless New Orleans is drastically different, I don't know anyone who says "y'all" to someone's face when they mean you. Y'all is when you're addressing or discussing a group of people. Andersen would have been better off just throwing in a few words with regularity that hint at the southern accent. Instead, every other word out of the heroine's mouth is spelled in a way that screams "I'm a southern stereotype." In fact, these two things bothered me so much that I didn't finish reading the novel. I guess that says a lot too. If it was really edge-of-my-seat interesting, I would have overlooked those two annoyances and finished it.
Rating: Summary: Even Elvis fans will like this book! Review: This is the first book I've read by Susan Andersen and I was NOT disappointed. Emma and Grace Melina ("Baby Beans") are on the run from an overbearing guardian who has a dark secret. Emma's car breaks down outside of Port Flanery and inside the town, Emma and Grace meet Sheriff Elvis ("Elbis"), their soon-to-be protector. And then the adventure, and yes, a little fun begins. The climax - when the guardian, Grant, catches up with Emma and Grace, will keep you glued to the pages!
