Review: Although i have to agree about the cat & baby on the horse i dont agree with the overall review about Hannah Howells books I have most of them and enjoy reading them over and again. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that they aren't so easy to get in Australia, I especialy like the family saga's that continue each sibling/family members story it lets you no who has children whos had more. I especialy like the fact that with highland vow it has started with the next geneartion of the family.

Summary: Highland Vow
Review: Elspeth Murray first meets Cormac Armstrong when she is nine years old and he is a youth accused of murder and on the run. She falls in love with him then, and the love grows though she doesn't see him again for ten long years. Cormac saves her from a crazed would-be suitor whom Elspeth rejects. They head toward court, and on the way, she makes every effort to seduce him. But Cormac has a strong sense of honor, and honor demands he stay faithful to Isabel, the woman he vowed to wed ten years before. She has since married and buried four husbands, and had many lovers besides, but Cormac is blind to her faults and thinks Isabel is an innocent victim of her family. Characterization sparkles in this gem. Great secondary characters complete this Scottish medieval tapestry.

Review: I am in love with Scottish Romances, thanks to Jamie Frazier (the Oultander series), and have discovered along the way some favorite authors, including Susan King, Julie Garwood, and Rexanne Becnel. Having now added Hannah Howell to my list, I looked forward with anticipation to the latest in her Highland series. What has drawn me to Ms. Howell are her characters. Her heroes, starting with Balfour Murray in Highland Destiny, although not always typical "romance" heroes of brawn and brute strength, are gallant, strong, and have a tender heart, though they may have trouble admitting it. Above all, they are men on honor. Her heroines, while not always "classic" beauties, are strong, feisty, independent women. I have found Ms. Howell's Highland books fairly well written, and enjoy her characters teasing banter. Elspeth Murray, from Highland Vow did not disappoint, she was in her mother's (Maldie from Highland Destiny) mold. She is willing to gamble all on love, even plots seduction though she may well lose the game. Cormac Armstong, though, could not compare with Balfour, or his brothers Nigel and Eric. Although chivalrous, he seems weak and indecisive, and unlike Elspeth, unwilling to risk all. Of course, eventually he does come round. Also, at times, the plot meanders and doesn't really pull the story together. Despite these flaws, books in a series are like old and cherished friends. For any reader who has enjoyed the previous Highland books, come meet Balfour and Maldie's daughter, Elspeth For new readers, pick up Highland Destiny and begin the adventure!

Summary: Love this Highland series!
Review: I love all of Hannah Howell's books. She has a way of making the Highlands come to life for me! This book was no exception. I loved Cormac and Elspeth! Cormac was such a strong man, yet not quite the Alpha male that I have come to get used to in HH's books. Their romance and love is so sweet that when she went back to Donncoil I wanted to literally cry! I loved the addition of the Armstrong men and Christopher and his nurse. I hope that this means that HH will be writing books about the Armstrongs next!!!!

Summary: Humorous, Sensual, Couldn't Put it Down!
Review: I've read hundreds of historical romances and this was one I could not put down. It's rare to have such a good combination of humor and excitement.

This was also my first Hannah Howell book and I am going back and buying every other one I can find. She's one of the best.

Summary: I dinnae think this a verra good book!!!
Review: The opening page was great. That's what drew me in. Ms. Howell's story is lacking in description. Everything is conversation and the character's thoughts. Once in awhile there's a table, horse or a bed(and no description of the afore mentioned). And while were on the subject of horses, I'd love to see Ms. Howell get on a horse while holding a baby and a cat. I'd also like to see her pack a baby cradle on a horse. The main female character,Elspeth supposedly has a gift of knowing when someone is being truthful or not. It was briefly mentioned twice or thrice. why bother mentioning it at all? I'll have to be dropped on my head a few times before I ever read another book by this author.
