Rating: Summary: Loved it....other reviewers have serious issues Review: If you don't like this novel, then something is just wrong with you. Evidently you need to read inspirational romances, or something. Yes, there is a rape scene in this book, but the characters are well written, the plot is execellent, and he ends up suffering in the book, if not alot, then a little. The fact of the matter is, a good historical romance needs to be true to the times, and this novel certainly is true to the time period it portrays. Shame on you bad reviewers.
Rating: Summary: Recommended, with reservation Review: In many ways, this is a lovely story and sequel to Kleypas' dynamite book, Only In Your Arms. However, there is one major drawback to this story that can't be overlooked and that is Celia, the heroine. She is inconsistent, contradictory, spineless, cold, indifferent and without charm or joy. I can find no logical reason for the very robust and vibrant Justin to be attracted to her in either love or lust. That said, the story is interesting and well-written and I did enjoy revising Max and Lysette. While I can't give an unqualified thumbs-up, the passion is certainly first rate and I can say that most readers will not be overly disappointed. Some may even enjoy the book very much, depending on how they feel about Celia.
Rating: Summary: Good book! Review: The different points of view on this book are very interesting. It seems to come down to how you feel about Celia, the heroine. I thought her actions were consistent with the character the author developed for her, and I enjoyed the book very much. I think I liked it better than the predecessor book (When Strangers Marry), and it was fun to see what happened to the characters from that earlier book. The insights into American Creole society of that time were also very interesting; the author made me want to read more about that period. I agree with the other reviewer who commented that it has an outstanding love scene. Lisa Kleypas certainly knows how to write those!
Rating: Summary: horrible Review: This is the first time I've ever refused to finish a book. After Justin practially rejoices at his brother's death, he goes off an rapes the guy's wife. It just made me so mad I had to stop where I was. I like Lisa Kleypas, but I have to say this is her WORST book.
