Summary: Caution
Review: A decent read, but only if you've never read a paranormal romance before. Decent characters with a pretty good story line. The turn-off? Extreally graffic language. Definatlly not for someone looking for old fashion romance. For someone like me, whom reads almost anything; there would have been no different in reading this novel than reading a "letter" out of Hustler magazine. Playboy is to tame. I would give this author another try, just to see if the rest of her books are the same. If so, I probley would not recomend her again.

Review: Fantastic! A happy ending, great sex, I could not put this one down! Going to have to look into more books by this author....just WOW!

Summary: WOW
Review: I am a huge fan of authors: Christine Feehan, Kinley MacGregor, Lori Foster, Dara Joy, Jaid Black, Susan Sizemore, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and Karen Marie Moning. This is my first review for any book but this book had me riveted! It's up there w/the best of them. I had to share it. If you like any of the above authors, you'll LOVE this one. I can't wait to read it again. I'll probably start in a minute and I just finished it a few hours ago. It runs you thru the mill of emotions...I actually felt a little sick when the "Jack the Ripper" attack replay was described, but it was an necessary part of many of the story lines. Dont' miss this one!!!!!!!!!!! It has the best of everything: romance, erotica, mystery, and danger....don't forget the futuristic/space-time travel aspect.

Summary: Indifferent due to crude language...
Review: I am very tolerant of the written word. However, I must say that I prefer well written English and "Mrs. Knight" does NOT deliver that. (S)he uses the rudest, crudest, lewdest euphemisms during sexual situations imaginable. Furthermore, (s)he uses the a very masculine tone of overt B&D and erotic descriptives. Yes, the author is billed as being a married woman but the sex scenes read like every male written promiscuious detective book I have ever read. The author had an interesting premise and the plot showed promise even if the "action" moved a little too fast. There seems to be a major trend for paranormal romance sex scenes to be rough and revolve around dominance/submission lately, which is very limiting in the selection available. BTW, Her second book's sex scenes are almost copy/paste from this one. My biggest criticism is her use of the "c" four letter word for the female genitalia which is a disgusting euphemism and a complete turnoff in a sexual scene... My elbow-jerk reaction would be to slap any man that called me that and actually threw the book across the room while having the hibbigibbies. yes I finished the book - boredom will get me through a lot of yuck, but this book did not give me the good feeling I usually get from romance books- it should be listed as hardcore scifi with heavy pointed erotica.

Summary: one great book from a very talented writer
Review: I first read Angela Knight in Red Sage's Secrets Vol. #2. The novella was entitled "Roarke's Prisoner" and she literally blew me away! I immediately was desperate for anything written by the talented writer, who gives you a raw, red-hot story, yet still remembers the passion in romance, not just the sex. She always has a strong plot foundation that is often missing in other Erotic Romance writers. Basically, she is am author who gives you her all. I was very disappointed to find out this amazing writer did not have dozens of books on her backlist. How could print publishers let this talent slip through their fingers? If I was an editor I would have snapped her up two years ago! I devoured the other Red Sage books (Secrets #3 "Blood and Kisses" and Secrets #7 "Kissing the Hunter" were vampire tales) and they were just as strong. She has a new book out this month - besides Jane's Warlord - from Ellora's Cave - Ellora's Cavemen: Tale of the Temple II and her second big-book is out in October called Master of the Night - a sexy vampire saga, her 2nd for Berkley - so to say Knight is on fire is putting it mildly! Frankly, it will be the readers who are on fire! This writer is one to watch! It is interesting to see the impact Ellora's Cave is having on mainstream print publishers, because Knight turns up the romance with intensely, erotic love scenes, which might have some faint-hearted readers blushing! EC making big waves and you are seeing more writers from EC being snapped up by the publishing houses. They are stretching the general genre Romance, pushing the envelope. It's rather exciting to witness the "new kids on the block" making the old guard take notice. Writers who are coming out of Red Sage and EC are bringing a large following with them, so they enter the trade paperback market with big sales and instant bestsellers.

However, Knight is one of the best by any standard. She creates strong characters you care about, gives reasonable (Time-Travel is always iffy logic to me! lol) explanations to her Time-Travel line, and takes something old and makes it new again. There will be instant references from readers of The Terminator giving Knight her seed for this story, (the writer even makes a couple herself!). So? They say there are only 7 basic storylines; it is what the writer does with them that showcases the talent. Knight took sexy John De Salvo, grafted him onto a genetically engineered body ala Arnie from T1, and gives you were sizzling kick a*** tale. Toss in a Time-Traveling Jack the Ripper and you have the makings of a very compelling story.

Jane Colby finds herself the target of old period-jumping Jack and the only thing standing between her and the killer are a generically altered, wisecracking timber wolf and one sexy warrior from the future. Knight blends all her elements so deftly. The scorching love scenes are nearly devastating, yet she manages to keep them from overpowering the whole book, by adding flawed, well-drawn characters with a rich history, a chilling stalk for a killer who is in turn stalking Jane, and the quirky humor of having a talking wolfhound that makes me think of the mouthy dog from the Men in Black Movies. The scenes with the wolf an absolute how, punch up the intensity level of the sexy love scenes and the brutal slayings, but giving the reader that much needed (pant pant) time to catch their breath!

This may be Knight's first trade paperback big book, but she sounds the trumpet - she is a force to be reckoned with sexy, futuristic/paranormal tales that take the reader to the limit and beyond! If you want your romances on par with "a kiss on the cheek Regency level" then give this book a pass for it will curl your toes. Knight's book is a "if you cannot stand the heat then get out of the kitchen" sort of tale. For those wanting a novel that delivers on all levels, then take the walk into the fire! Just be sure to have a tall picture of iced-lemonade handy!

I am also very impressed with her research about Jack the Ripper. As Jack as been one of my fields of study, I appreciate her taking time to learn all the details of the case. It's reflected in her writing.

I cannot wait for her October release of Master of the Knight. Camelot was vampires! WOW.

Summary: Interesting Premise, But Too Raw for Me
Review: I honestly don't know how I feel about JANE'S WARLORD. Plot-wise, it was entertaining: a genetically engineered warrior from 300 years in the future is ordered to catch a serial killer as he stalks his last victim, a reporter named Jane. Character-wise, it was intriguing: Baran the warlord had a tragic, lonely past; Jane the reporter was spunky; and Baran's partner was a genetically engineered talking timber wolf. Romance-wise? Well, I'm not sure if it was romantic, per se. It's supposed to be erotica so, yes, they were intimate, and quite often. Like dogs in heat, almost. Even the author called it "f***ing" every single time. The carnal vulgarity was a put off, as were the redundant sex scenes and the overuse of the word "cream." I think I'm going to ban that word from my vocabulary now. Anyway, while I liked how the author wrote Jane's very human character, I thought she (the author) was a bit immature in how she used the wolf. He's supposed to be this genius, yet all he does is crack lewd comments and cat jokes. I mean, he's a friggin talking wolf! Come on! You'd think he'd have something better to say. Worse, Jane calls him "wolfie" and "furball," which is just so trite. I would never EVER call my husky (resembles a wolf) or my rottweiler (as intimidating as one) a "furball." I guess Jane really is a cat person.

So, going back to my original point, I really don't know if I like or dislike JANE'S WARLORD. On the good side, it was original, engrossing, and fun to read. On the bad side, it was borderline cheesy, skimmed over some important plot areas, and was more kinky porno than romance. Maybe I'm just too used to witty, sensual Johanna Lindsey novels (my favorite) to appreciate fully something more gritty and raw, like JANE'S WARLORD. I don't know. I do recommend it as a fascinating read, but I don't think it will appeal to those looking for a traditional heartwarming romance full of love and adventure.

Summary: Better than I expected; sexy fantasy delivers
Review: I picked up Jane's Warlord out of boredom, thinking it would be at best, an okay way to spend a couple of hours. I was happily surprised to find this was a really excellent book.

Jane and Baran are both bigger than life as is the plot; this is fantasy, pure and simple, and not meant to be a treatise on time travel or future technology. Jane is troubled by her past but strong, sassy and of course, gorgeous. Baran is a trained assassin from the future, ruthless and sexy, determined to protect Jane no matter what. Yep, they have sex pretty much instantly after meeting, but again, this is Fantasy, capital F.

Knight keeps the pace fast, smart and steamy; there's lots of graphic sex but it always works within the context of the characters and is very explicit but never over the top gross. The book is on the thin side, reading like a slightly long trade romance rather than a full-blown novel, but when I was done, I didn't feel the story lost any punch due to lack of page.

All in all, this ended up being a perfect quickie book. A gorgeous hero and heroine, a spunky smartmouthed sidekick and a terrific fairy-tale ending all added up to a fun, hot book that can stand up to multiple readings. I was very, very impressed with Knight's writing skills and look forward to reading more of her work soon.

Summary: Eyeball Melting Sexual Chemistry With a Great Story!
Review: I've enjoyed Angela Knight's ebooks and knew I'd be getting an entertaining and very sexy read with Jane's Warlord. What I got exceeded my expectations.

Jane's Warlord is a great mix of science fiction and contemporary erotic romance. Jane is a smart, strong and brave heroine. Baran is much more than the typical caveman alpha male, he's got a brain and isn't threatened by Jane's intelligence or strength.

The book is also filled with several very very hot sex scenes that will melt your bones. Knight does know how to write sexual tension like a pro.

Jane's Warlord is more than just a series of sex scenes, it has a great plot and a lot of humor and action to add to the chemistry. It's an excellent read.

Edited to add - HELLO people! It says "erotic romance" in the description so it seems patently unfair to rate the book low because it has the graphic sexual situations common to erotic romance. It's like rating a sci fi book low because it's about outer space or aliens.

Summary: This is a must read book
Review: Jane's Warlord is an exceptional book. I am so glad friends kept after me to get this book.

Jane Colby is a local newspaper reporter, she covers the crime beat. She is investigating the most recent murder and is shocked to hear how violent the crime is. Even more shocking is the man and his wolf waiting for her at home.

Baran Arvid is a warlord from the future. He has been sent back in time to stop a sadistic serial killer whose next victim is Jane. Baran and his sidekick will lay down their life's to protect Jane.

Jane at first doesn't trust this man and his motives. But she comes to realize she must put her faith and her life in his hands in order to survive. Jane is a strong willed, (...) heroine. Jane is an equal to Baran on so many levels. She gives as good as she gets in and out of the bedroom. Baran though a fierce warlord has never felt this intense desire before and is willing to risk all to have Jane.

Angela Knight writes a richly sensual, suspenseful, futuristic tale. The characters are so multi-dimensional, they make you laugh and you can feel their passions. This book was everything I was told it was and so much more. It's a scorcher.

Summary: This is one you HAVE GOT to read
Review: JANE'S WARLORD is Angela Knight's first full-length work by Berkley and if this is anything to compare future titles to, we are all in for a treat! Let me start off by saying this is one hot novel, so if you get easily offended this may not be the book for you. Ok now that we have that out of the way I can tell you I loved this book.

I am sure that other reviewers have told the storyline so I will just hit the basics. Jane lives in South Carolina and is the owner/reporter/photographer for a small hometown newspaper publication. Baran is a Warlord 300 years from the future sent to protect her from a JumpKiller (Serial Killer), also from the future. The bad guy in this book is scary, he likes to play with his victims before he slices and dices them, then takes a turn having his fun with them. He has time jumped and commited murders all through time.

The things I loved about this book are many. Jane is a strong female, she is not just waiting for the big strong man to come save her. She does her own share of saving also. She doesn't have any of the hang-ups that we see in a lot of romance novels. Baran, now here is a hero! Besides looks, and I could talk about that all day, he is so alpha. The part that sets him apart and made me fall in love with him was his soft side. He tries so hard to always be tough and in control, but he cares about the people he is trying to help, even people he is just meeting. I won't give away the plot, but there is a scene where he comes upon a wreak and it really upsets him that he knows the lady inside the car is going to die before they can get her cut out. He gets her out even though he gets hurt in the process. He has a tender heart and Jane can see through his tough guy act. Baran has a partner, a timber wolf who talks through crystals around his neck. He is a walking talking library of knowledge. He can download any info into his computer implant and then pass it on to Baran. The thing I loved is he is such a smart mouth, funny, has his own personality.... wolf! Angela Knight has really brought these characters to life. I could picture Freika (the wolf) chasing Jane's housecat, calling out "here kitty kitty" LOL He had his own thing going on, and Angela did such a great job writing I could see it all in my mind. There were times I was laughing out loud reading about him.

Angela has came up with a wonderful new future world that I would love to read more about. I hope she will do more Warlord stories. I fell in love with this one. I liked that the book didn't have fillers in it, you all know what I mean by filler, sometimes it is like the author needs so many pages and just repeats or tells you the same thing a hundred different ways just to fill pages. This book was NOT like that! Each page had new things and I couldn't wait to see what would happen next.

If you have not read this one, get it today. It is well worth it. I have already put this one on my keeper shelf and have marked my calender for future Angela Knight releases. All I can say is, please Ms Knight, write faster!! You have fans out here waiting on the next book. Angela Knight is a name to watch out for in the future. Good Luck Ms. Knight.
