Summary: Wonderful
Review: I fell in love with this book and turned around and read the sequel in record time. I imagined myself as the characters and could see and feel what they did. That's all I ask for in a book--to make me forget my own reality for a short time and let me live in theirs.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great read!
Review: I found this book disappointing regarding the romance aspect. I will give the author the benefit of the doubt seeing as how this is the first novel I've read from her, but overall, this one did not hold my interest. I found myself skipping pages throughout the whole thing. Almost too much intrigue that I couldn't keep up with, and really, didn't want too. The characters didn't grab me either.

Summary: What a disappointment!
Review: I have read every one of A. Kane's books since her debut book, Dream Castle. The last 4-5 books have all been a let down. Within 100 pages the main characters express/acknowledge their love for each other and spend rest of the 355 pages solving a long drawn mystery. There is no intensity, doubt or mystery in their romance and I was very disappointed. Within the first 1/4 of the book the couple make their feelings obvious and join forces to fight some other problem. What is left in a romance novel to read after that? The mystery and the lovers search to solve the puzzle was all so boring. Everything in the romance was so rosy, too rosy almost all through the book.

Summary: Romance At It's Very Best!
Review: I just discovered Andrea Kane recently, and I truly cannot wait to ready ALL her books. For those of you, like myself, who are TRUE romantics--you will LOVE Andrea Kane!! She combines romance and mystery in an exciting and heart-melting manner, in which I was not able to put her book down even for a minute. I am an AVID reader of romance genre, but lately have become rather bored with the average romantic tale. Andrea Kane's, The Gold Coin, was the first book in a long time that helped me remember why I love these books so much. Thank you Andrea! You are by far one of the best I've had the pleasure to read.

Summary: Romance and Mystery!
Review: I read both books within a couple of days. I loved that they focused on the two cousins looking so much alike, that they could be sisters. There was so much danger, mystery and intrigue, PLUS romance for both cousins. I passed these books onto my Sister and my Mom, they loved them! Please....more books like these!

Summary: A gold medal historical romantic intrigue
Review: In 1803 England, six year old identical cousins Anastasia and Breanna Colby vow to assist each other in times of crisis by switching places. With their fathers always fighting, their beloved grandfather turns to them to keep the family intact. He gives a gold coin to Anastasia and a silver coin to Breanna reflecting the fact that the two girls love their respective colors. He tells them never to give away the coins to anyone including their fathers.

In 1807, their grandfather died. Anastasia's parents move to Philadelphia to open up an American version of Colby and Sons, the family's successful import-export business. The two cousins stay in touch over the next decade. By 1817, Anastasia becomes an orphan and returns to England to live with her Uncle George and Breanna. Anastasia falls in love with her estate executor, Marquees of Sheldrake, Damen Lockewood, who reciprocates her feelings. However, desperately needing money, George sets in motion a plot that endangers both cousins.

THE GOLD COIN, the first historical romance, in Andrea Kane's two-part series, is a fantastic tale that emphasizes the secondary role of women in Polite Society. The story line is filled with suspense and heated romance. The cousins are superb characters and Damen, who can tell them apart, is a great hero. The villains are vile yet in many ways true to the expectations of the Ton. Readers will only have a one-month wait for Breanna's story, THE SILVER COIN, which will be pure gold.
