Rating: Summary: Book's a great stress-reliever Review: I took Educating Caroline with me to the hospital as I waited with loved ones for a relative to go through surgery. Caroline, who is pretty, loyal, spunky, brave, outspoken, curious and creative, seeks out the renowned Braden Granville (who is a "self-made" man who many members of the "gentry" view as below them - someone who will never "fit in," but the only quality man who had a real heart for life besides maybe his father, Sylvester) for lessons on how to make love - NOT a hands-on assignment, mind you... which is only the introduction to the many laughs I couldn't avoid as the story unfolded. Caroline and Braden's story helped take my mind off of my worries and it was nice to escape to their world for awhile - a world that I didn't find overly simple, or predictible, or ordinary... but at the same time, I didn't have to work to think about what was going on, which was good since my mind was tired from thinking about other things. The secondary characters are fleshed out and make the stars, Caroline and Braden, sparkle more. There are some twists and turns in the plot which keep you on your toes throughout the 400+ page book - the time it took to complete those pages flew by, making it seem like there were less pages than a short story.
Rating: Summary: outstanding! Review: I was simply delighted with Meg Cabot's Educating Caroline. Her characters were wonderful and the plot has a great build up with a satisfying climactic scene and leaves the reader truly dreading the end of the book. The scene where Braden sends Caroline a note to her room was so funny and rewarding, I felt this book should have been nominated for Best Romance of the year. I truly hope Meg Cabot writes a sequel with these two great characters. Wow! Move over Amanda Quick.

Rating: Summary: Really good! Review: I wish I could give this 4.5 stars, because it was nearly perfect to me. I loved the characters, the dialogue was delicious (especially Caroline's internal conversation) and the ending was very satisfying. The only drawback (and it is a slight one and just based on personal preference) is that the plot is supposed to be about Braden giving Caroline "lessons" in how to please a man, but they only have two such lessons and and they are all about pleasing Caroline. I love Cabot's writing and really hoped to see a scene where Caroline got to explore Braden thoroughly. Just a small disappointment in an otherwise wonderful book.
Rating: Summary: outstanding! Review: I won't bore you with repeating the editorial reviews - they are indeed true on this book. The storyline was as strong as the characters, and the subplots that entwined with the main story created depth. This was a romance, mystery, and altogether excellent read. This is the first book I have read by Cabot, and will not be the last. She wrote a story - one you could sink your teeth into -and feel as if you had front row seats to the 19th century. I tend to think the romance genre has gotten a bit lame, but not with Cabot. She has reinvented the romance novel, and I would not be surprised to find quite a following of adults - men and women - searching out her newest release. Hollywood, if you have not caught on to her romance novels yet, please take a look - This is definitely movie material.
Rating: Summary: Well-Written and Fun Review: If you like historical romance, this one is a good bet. Was very well written and fun. Not any surprising twists, but a good, easy read when you're looking for an escape.
Rating: Summary: Well worth reading Review: In 1870 London, Lady Caroline Linford accidentally catches her fiancé Lord Hurst Winchilsea making love to Lady Jacquelyn Seldon. Unobserved, by the lovers, Caroline quietly leaves the boudoir realizing that she must not be up to par in bed if Hurst is already seeking solace elsewhere. As Caroline tries to regain her equilibrium and debates calling off her engagement, Braden Granville arrives demanding to know where his betrothed Jacquelyn is. Caroline protects her fiancé knowing he would be dead in a duel if Braden found him in a clinch with Jacquelyn. Instead Caroline asks Braden to teach her how to seduce Hurst. Though he wants to avoid simmering virgins, he agrees because he believes she knows the identity of Jacquelyn's lover and his lovemaking skills will soon have her reveal the individual. However, Braden soon wonders who is educating who as they soon both want to become a permanent relationship. EDUCATING CAROLINE is an inviting Victorian romance that is at its best when it is a tale of the manners of the elite in and out of the boudoir. The infusion of a well written and exciting mystery add suspense and action, but actually takes away from an amusing yet powerful bedroom drama starring a delightful pair. Patricia Cabot provides readers have a novel that is an impressive yarn that will furbish plenty of pleasure for fans. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: A lady and her love tutor in 1870 England Review: Lady Caroline Linford and Branden Granville share two big things in common: both of them are engaged, and both their betrotheds are betraying them--with each other. This forms the basis for a humorous partnership to help each other escape from their disastrous alliances. And while that is going on, Caroline asks Branden to throw in some love lessons so this sort of thing will never happen to her again. A simple plot, or so they both thought, but neither bargains on falling in love with each other as they kiss, quarrel and scheme! Caroline and Branden are a lot of fun. They are strong and energetic people, and the premise of love lessons is a very sexy one. The author's dry, witty voice and plenty of clever dialogue add greatly to the humor and readability of the book, making it a very lively, enjoyable read!
Rating: Summary: Hilarious & Tons of Fun!! Review: Oh my! If the plot outline and the chapter one teaser that Amazon has provided doesn't excite you already, then I guess this book isn't for you!! ;) For me, all I did was simply read the plot synopsis and that got me on a yearning quest to get my hands on this book as soon as possible! Lady Caroline Linford thought she had it all! Her only brother Tommy managed to live through an almost fatal incident, and she was engaged to the handsome hero, the Marquis of Winchilsea, who rescued her brother! What more could a girl have? Unfortunately for Caroline, all her dreams and hope abruptly ends when she finds her fiancé involved with another woman in an intimate act. Being a proper lady, Caroline chooses to keep this devastating secret to herself. That is until the fiancé of the lady's, Braden Granville appears demanding Caroline if she's seen his lady anywhere. Caroline, who has always been a horrible liar, decides to tell the truth, claiming that she saw his lady with a man, but of course does not mention his name. When Caroline breaks the sad news of her fiancé's treachery to her mother, her mother claims that Caroline needs to try harder to make the Marquis desire her in a way only a woman can. But sadly, Caroline doesn't know a stitch about lovemaking... so she seeks Braden for help... For Braden Granville, he's earned his popular rank among London's society for two reasons: one - he's famous for his pistols and guns business and two - for his reputation as London's notorious Lothario. But well, nevermind that! He's on a serious mission! He needs to catch his unfaithful fiancé in an uncompromising act before he can call his engagement off. He knows that his fiancé has been disloyal but isn't able to get any proof whatsoever! So when Caroline comes seeking Braden for help in the love making department, and compromises that she'll be his witness in court, he takes full advantage of that deal. Of course, he never thought that he could fall in love with this "plain" girl that grows more and more beautiful every time they meet. Soon the two of them are spun in a web of passion, danger, and of course all-consuming love. This novel is absolutely hilarious! Caroline's innocence and personality was a pleasure to read about! Her meaning of "lovemaking" and Braden's definition were so different that it was side-splitting! The way Braden looked at life was tons of fun! How the two fell in deep love was the sweetest treat to experience! These characters actually grow on you! It's about time we get to read more stories about Ladies who define the true meaning of being a Lady in the Victorian era, and a man who will do anything for the woman he loves. I look forward to reading more warm and fun books by Patricia Cabot! Have Fun! ;)
Rating: Summary: Move over Amanda Quick! Review: Patricia Cabot delights in this wonderful romp. The initial lesson scene with our heroine taking notes from the notorious rake is without question the most memorable scene in the romance genre. Praise for Educating Caroline. Please Miss Cabot, you must delight us with a sequel and let us find out how London society accepts our wonderful Caroline as the "Lothorio of London's" wife. Ann
