Summary: Fantastic Light Read
Review: A wonderful light summer read. I love the book. You can just imagine "rake" Max seeing the 4 beauties all together for the first time and knowing he is doomed. It is a wonderful story of 4 sisters all hitting the Ton at once, and they seem to attract rakes to the chagrin of Max (the new Duke, and their guardian). Especially since he is one of the biggest rakes of them all and is falling hard for Caro the oldest. It is a real cute story showing how all of the different personalities intertwine and just how smart the girls are :)

A light but fun read!

Summary: Not a Romp
Review: According to Ms. Laurens, this is a Regency romp. I would call it more of a Regency plod. It is not only boring in the exteme, as nothing really happens. It is unlikely that four "beautiful and charming" young ladies would all fall for rather worthless men. I couldn't really read it, just skimmed the surface of the last half to see if it got better. It didn't.

Summary: This is a Good Book
Review: After reading some of the reviews I felt I had to say something. Considering this is one of the first books Ms Laurens wrote, I think she did a very good job. This seems to be a complicated plot to deal with in one book. I think it could have been better if the stories where handled one or two at a time, or through a long book.

Summary: A fulfilling read
Review: Although some readers may dislike the many subplots in this book, I found that the different characters and interweaving stories were very refreshing and fun to read. Four In Hand may not have an exciting, action-filled, heart-wrenching plot, but it is interesting and just overall pleasing to read. I would recommend this book to those who like the happy ending, and not the emotional and frightening twists and turns before the end.

Summary: Very cute story!!!
Review: Although this is not what I've come to expect from SL, I still really enjoyed this story. I loved seeing Max's life turned topsy-turvy & the antics of the 3 younger sisters was just too fun! I'll have to admit that with this many characters involved character development wasn't that great, but I also didn't have to go through the long process of not liking the characters before they started growing into decent human beings; so, all in all, that worked out okay for me. I liked the fact that Max & Caroline tried to keep focused on taking care of the younger ones. Although this was not an action packed story, I did not find it boring like other reviewers. The girls keeping Max on his toes was fun & entertaining to me. I would recommend it to those that like a light, fun, & very sweet story.

Summary: A Delightful Regency Romance
Review: Among all the Regency Romance I read in recent years, this is the one I like the best. The heroines have spirits and can well fend for themselves. The story is amusing and it is fun to see how the rakes fall one by one. I would prefer to see another light-hearted romance like this by Ms Laurens than her latter works where the love scenes I think are too explicit for the Regency period.

Summary: What happened to the middle?
Review: As do a lot of other people, I brought this book because of Stephanie Laurens name on the cover. I also thought 'great, 4 stories in one, I won't be bored!' The problem was Laurens tried to fit too much into to small a space. Even though Max and Caro were supposed to be the main characters, I found that they never really developed chemistry, and I really didn't care about them as I have her other characters in past books. Sarah and Darcy's story was the most touching, as we knew they were drawen together from the first, and could imagine what we weren't told. How Arabella and Hugo ever fell in love is beyond me, I must have missed the page where it happened. They barely talked, and we were expected to accept they had fallen in love because it was what was supposed to happen. Very disappointing! Then there is Lizzie, her sisters are knowledgeable, yet she is so innocent that it is frustrating. How Martin could view her as anything but his brothers ward never came to light. All I can see is that everyone in this book fell in love with the sight of their partner and that in the end their personalities didn't really matter.

Laurens spend more time on the plotting of the three younger sisters to save Amanda from Ralph and get him together with Harriet that that was probably the only part that was essentially clear.

Quite confusing and missing as I say the middle of all the sisters stories. Not Laurens best effort but not bad if you want a book to read Sunday afternoon.

Summary: Cute
Review: cute and a fast "comfortable" read. You know what will happen but still enjoy the ride

Summary: A Different Type of Plot, but Insipid Characters
Review: Five romances all rolled into one is the way to describe this book. However, it just comes off a bit confusing, even if the storyline is cute in general.

Four in Hand is the tale of Max Rotherbridge and Caroline Twynning, Guardian and Ward respectively. The other romances are made up of Max's younger brother and his friends (all of whom are rakes) and Caroline's sisters. As usual, I developed an extreme dislike for all of the rakes, including Max, and wished they would all die of typhoid or something equally horrendous. I also learned to loathe most of the females, as being incredibly stupid and just plain lucky that they were born pretty, because they certainly were cheated by God on brains.

I give the book 3 stars anyway for a new look at an old plot. It is worth buying.

Summary: An Instant Favorite!!!
Review: I absolutely adore the Cynster series, but I was unsure about how well Ms Laurens could create a novel that could stand alone. I could not have been more pleased. I loved that there were so many characters and so much passion going around. I always like to read about a good rake being brought low, but four in one book!! It was heaven. The girls were delightfully cheeky, and the men they chose were perfect for each of them. It was really refreshing to read a romance novel based on just that- romance. There are no murderers or treasures or evil relations, just four irrepressable young women. Anyone who loves an EXTREMELY happy ending (or endings!) would really enjoy this story.
