Summary: The cover blurb is misleading, as usual.....
Review: I don't know how they do it but I swear, 75% of the blurbs I read totally get the book wrong. She is not 'coolly sensual'. She is on a mission from her family to assasinate someone, and Fire Whip is in the assasinatee's employ. 'Nuff said. This book is a thoughtful look at male/female relationships and the power balance, as well as being a great fun read.

Summary: Great book
Review: I have all of Ms Krentz books. This book catches your attention right away, and keeps it through out the book. If you like fantasy books this is one not to miss.

Summary: great other world book...but a little winded.
Review: I like to read books about other worlds. It challenges my mind to think out of the box. However, Krentz went a little overboard in the length of the book. I read the large print version which was over 500 pages. Don't get me wrong...I wasn't bored while reading and did finish in 5 days. I just think she could have done without some of the traveling details in order to shorten it. This is my first novel by her and will read others. I still recommend it, especially for these long winter evenings.

Summary: Very good book :)
Review: I liked this book enormously because it was quite original (and that means quite a lot if you have read lots of romance novels).

The plot centers on Kalena and Ridge. Kalena is young lady who wants to fulfill her life mission, to avenge the deaths of her father and brother at the hands of Quintel, important nobleman and comerciant. To achieve that, she makes a "trade marriage" (temporary) with Ridge (called "Fire Whip," who is loyal to Quintel), not intending to fulfill it but to get closer to Ridge's employer, Quintel (so as to kill him).

But the story takes many unexpected spins that make it very interesting, forcing Kalena to fulfill her duties as a trade wife, and allowing us to see how her relationship with Ridge developes, while they search for the Sand (a valuable commodity in their world), facing numerous dangers.

The only fact that kept me from giving 5 stars to this book is that sometimes the thoroughly "alpha male" attitude of Ridge annoyed me (and a lot). But, on the other hand, the story was original and convincing, the characters believable, and the ending excellent. So my advice is: read it and enjoy!!!

Summary: Classic
Review: I loved this book. With Crystal Flame and Sweet Starfire, Jayne Ann Krentz has defined the marriage of Romance, Science Fiction, and Fantasy. If I could give it six stars, I would.

Summary: Classic Krentz
Review: I recently re-discovered an older copy (1986) of this book (has an awful romance cover completely unrelated to the book) and read it again. I think this is one of her better ones. THe characters are stong but not so stubborn they can't learn from their mistakes. Readers should note, though, that this is more like a Jayne Castle book than a Krentz one. Her SF-fantasy is a nice change from other books in the genre because she tends to focus more on the social structures of the alternate world than the technological differences. They're also (mostly) believable - except you'd never catch me getting up at dawn (every day!) to serve my husband tea.

Summary: I loved the characters and the plot.
Review: I thought the two main characters were well developed. I enjoyed the story very much.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Neither a good fantasy novel nor a good romance Novel
Review: Normally I like books from Jayne Ann Krentz, but I was very dissapointed with this one, it's neither a good fantasy book, nor a good romance novel. If you buy a book from JAK, you expect a contemporary romance novel, this one is set in a fantasy world and I was not very comfortable with it.

Summary: Classic Krentz
Review: Simply a classic, never to be over-looked, and one of Krentz's best. A time-less story of a woman wanting to be free of restriction (Kalena) finding love in the arms of a man abandoned on the streets as a boy and who can make the steel of Countervail glow red with his rage (Ridge). Together they face challenges set before them by forces seemingly older then time.
