Summary: A first-rate thriller.
Review: Leigh Kendall has it all; a successful Broadway career, a loving husband, and her recently purchased dream house. But, in the blink of an eye, Leigh's life will change...

After a late night performance, Leigh sets out to meet her husband at their new home, but on the way she gets into an accident and wakes up in the hospital. Not sure what has happened, Leigh starts asking for her husband, but he is not there. Before long the police show up to question Leigh about her accident and to break the news of her husband's disappearance.

As the police struggle for information concerning Logan's disappearance they begin to suspect Leigh of foul play.

Desperate for answers and with no one to trust, Leigh begins investigating her husband's disappearance as well as her accident and what she discovers shocks her, for Logan is not the man she thought she knew and her accident may not have been an accident at all. As her race for answers becomes a race for her life, Leigh realizes that someone is watching her every move...someone is watching over her.

'Someone To Watch Over Me' is a thrill packed page-turner that grabs hold early on and doesn't let go. Every character, good or bad, is well drawn, and the plot carefully unravels a spellbinding mystery of betrayal and murder with suspense that builds with every turn of the page until it's shocking climax. Readers are sure to stay up late racing through this one.

Judith McNaught has abandoned her romance roots and opted to venture into thriller territory, similar to that of Sandra Brown, and what a good move that was, for this novel is an entertaining, well-written thriller that will rocket up the bestseller lists and earn Ms. McNaught a whole new slew of fans.

Summary: A fufilling read.....
Review: I enjoyed this book immensely, but it wasn't as good as I expected it to be. When I compare Someone to Watch Over Me to her other contemporary novels, it comes up short.

Leigh Manning was headed to the cabin her husband Logan had found for their dream vacation. Leigh, being a leading actress on Broadway, and Logan, heavily involved in business had a hard time finding time to spend together, so Leigh was looking foward to the weekend they had planned. The weekend took a turn for the worse when Leigh was in an accident that landed her in the hospital and her husband was no where to be found.

Then there is Michael Valente who Leigh despises on principle. According to law enforcement and the media he is guilty of everything from fraud to money laundering. What she doesn't know is that he is someone that she knew, fourteen years ago, and he's come for the woman he has loved for all those years.

McNaught delivers on keeping the reader on the edge of their seat with the suspense. At times I felt sorry for Leigh and angry on her behalf. At the same time I wondered how anyone could be so blind to their husbands faults. McNaught also always has secondary characters that you fall in love with and this novel was no different.

Again, this is a really great book, but for Paradise will always be my favorite contemporary by McNaught :)

Summary: Not Quite Worth the Wait
Review: For any other romance writer this would have been a wonderful book, but for Judith McNaught it came up short for me. For the most part when I read McNaughts books I feel the emotional rollercoasters her character ride as the discover love and hope. Regardless of what else is going on in the story the love of two people is the heart of the book, and everything else is second to it. In Someone to Watch Over Me the focus was on the mystery, not emotional journey of the couple. I did not feel there what the characters were experiencing cognitively and emotional was coveyed well. Also, McNaught tried a new style of explaining a scene that had just occurred in a flashback fashion which did not work for me. I felt like I had missed out on the details and was given a biased point of view rather than being allowed to create my own reaction. Typically I feel very emotionally invested while reading her books, yet with this one I felt very distant. I especially felt cheated on having insight into Michael for most of the book. Like I said previously, for any other romance writer the book would have been great, but for McNaught it just did not live up to my expectations nor the long wait for the release.

Summary: Welcome Back, Judith McNaught!!
Review: I have been waiting and waiting for Judith McNaught to release a new book. After a few years' hiatus, JM has graced us with the romantic thriller "Someone to Watch Over Me." This title works on several levels because our heroine Leigh Kendall definitely has several people watching over her: her husband Logan, his enigmatic business associate Michael Valente, the police, and her eerie and elusive stalker-who keeps getting bolder and bolder.

You are drawn into the story on the first page as Leigh wakes up in the hospital after someone tries to run her off the road. She soon learns that her husband Logan is missing, and he wasn't quite the man that she thought he was.

As the story unravels, Leigh finds herself the prime suspect in her husband's disappearance. She also finds a mysterious champion in Michael Valente-a enigmatic man with a criminal record as long as his arm and plenty of secrets to boot. Does Michael Valente have Leigh's best interests at heart? Or, is there a hidden agenda?

This story has plenty of suspense, thrills, twists, and turns! All of the characters are interwoven together to create a seamless story that never lags. We get a glimpse into all of the characters' lives, including the growing relationship Mitchell McCord and Samantha Littleton.

This book is like getting two books in one because you get the suspense/thriller, and you get the comtemporary romance. This book offers tender and poignant moments that will make you weep. Overall, this is an outstanding book!! This is a great comeback novel for Judith McNaught.

Summary: Fantastic mix of suspense and romance!
Review: After waiting four years for this book to come out, it met and exceeded my expectations! Judith McNaught has written a novel that combines suspense and romance in perfect proportions.

The leading characters are wonderful, and the secondary characters add snap to the plot and sizzle to the romance. I thoroughly enjoyed the story with all of its plot turns and twists. As much as I wanted to savor the story, I couldn't put this book down. I highly recommend this book for readers of both suspense and romance. It has a satisfying mix of both and will leave you wishing for more!

Summary: SLOW STARTING
Review: Like a lot of other romance novelists, Judith McNaught (I suspect) is trying to break into the mystery genre, while keeping her faithful romance readers. The good news is that the romance between her two main characters is her usual great; no one can write tender love scenes like McNaught. The bad news is that it takes about 200 pages to get going. I am not a mystery fan, but I don't believe those who are would be interested enough to keep reading and the romance is too long in coming. I wonder, tho, at the talent of McNaught to make the husband of the heroine slightly dislikable without this reader being able to point to something specific. There are too many irrelevant details, describing apartments, minor characters, etc. that should have been edited out. Bottom line: read "Perfect" instead.

Summary: First book I've ever gotten up to pace the room as I read!!
Review: I was anticipating this book so much - I was afraid it couldn't meet my expectations, but it did!

What a delicious read. Yuuuummmmm. Usually I figure out the twists and turns, but this was never predictable. The suspense remained until the very end.

Judith McNaught is an incredible writer! Don't miss this book.

Summary: Someone to Watch Over Me
Review: This latest novel of Judith McNaught was disappointing. The flashbacks were distracting and it did not make sense to the latter part of the book. The relationship between the main characters and minor characters did not seem to be realistic.

Summary: First-Rate Romantic Suspense
Review: After a two-year wait, Ms. McNaught latest has finally arrived, to the delight of romance readers and McNaught fans. While Ms. McNaught initially achieved critical acclaim for her historical romances, she smoothly made the transition from historicals to contemporaries. And with this recent novel, she has imbued the romance with suspense that will keep the reader turning the pages late into the night.

Broadway star Leigh Kendall is traveling to a late night rendezvous with her husband, Logan Manning, at a cabin he recently purchased for them in the Catskills. With the snowfall making the roads slippery, Leigh is forced off the road by another car, and her car plunges down an embankment. Miraculously, she survives the accident with few injuries but is bewildered when the police and hospital staff have no knowledge of her husband's whereabouts.

When Leigh returns home to her Manhattan apartment, she relies on the support of her housekeeper Hilda and part-time borrowed bodyguard, O'Hara. Michael Valente, a business associate of Logan's and purported criminal, attempts to offer Leigh his friendship and support as the police search for the missing Logan. As Leigh begins to warm to Michael's charm, she treasures his loyalty to her, especially when the police discover that Logan was not the loving husband he pretended to be.

Anyone who has ever read a McNaught novel knows that she has a stellar ability to encompass in totality the attraction between the main protagonists. Without using much explicit language, the romance sizzles with the subtlety of the characters' body language and carefully worded innuendo. Not only does Leigh find love with the strong yet caring Michael Valente, but also Lieutenant 'Mack' McCord begins romancing Detective Samantha Littleton.

Through the use of fascinating and yet multi-layered characters, Ms. McNaught has created a novel that is as strong in its use of romantic elements as it is in suspense. With a backdrop of the cutthroat world of New York Theater and financial empires, the list of suspects in Logan's disappearance is as varied as it is long. While the romance keeps the pages filled with attraction, the mystery keeps the suspense building until the final page is turned on this first-rate novel.

Review: Someone to Watch Over Me is a wonderful book by a fantastic author. The characters are wonderfully written and the story has so many twists and turns that its hard to put down.(I couldn't)
The male hero is one of my favorite Judith McNaught heros, he has it all. The heroine is strong and very likeable.
This book had me guessing all the way through it.
