Rating: Summary: This series just keeps getting better. Review: After reading this book I really felt for Fran, that poor young woman was ripped in half by the one man that she really loved, and by one Calder Hart who really wants her, but knows that she will never love him. I wanted to rip Bragg's wife arms off how could she be so mean to Fran, when she does not love him either, she only wants to use him so he can reach his political glory and then more than likely drop him just so she can get more money out of him. Sorry, I had to get that off my chest. The only reason that I gave this book four stars was because I do not remember her solving the case of who ripped Sally's paintings up. Brenda when will your next Francesa Cahill novel be coming out?
Rating: Summary: Extremely disappointed with this book. Review: Being an avid reader of all of Brenda Joyce's books, I was truly let down with the ending of this book. You're just left hanging as to the outcome of Fran's love life. Not to mention her brother's as well as her sister's. If this is truly the last book of the Deadly series then shame on the author and the publisher.
Rating: Summary: The best so far!!!!!!! Review: Brenda Joyce did it again! In Deadly Pleasure there was that mystery at the end that left us wanting more and now after Deadly Desire I dont think I can wait! The passion and the tension between Calder and Fran is just to yummie to pass up! I really hope Brenda makes the right choice and chooses Calder! His charactor has really developed since the last book! But even then the tension between the two was there. Bravo Brenda and thanks a million for such a wonderful book and enticing romance! Only you can turn the tables!
Rating: Summary: ENTICING Review: Deadly Desire is probably the best book I have read this year!! It has so much possibilities! Plus this book has me on edge. I dont think that i have ever wanted two people to come to gather more then I did with Calder and Fran! I dont want to give away much, but to those who have been following up on the Cahill novels; after reading Deadly Desire I think that most will have a change of heart when it comes to Frans love interest!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Brenda Joyce has done it again!! Review: First I have to say to someone who wrote another review, Yes the book leavs you hanging because there is going to be a fifth book. I think the book is excellent. I have read almost all Brenda Joyces books and have not been disappointed yet. As for the Deadly Serious each books leave wanting more on the edge of your seat. You cant wait to see what happens next. I for one i'm dying to know what happens with Fran, Bragg, and Calder. There are so many twist and turns and so much going on with the other characters. Brendas books take you back in time like if your really there. You really feel like you know the characters. She describes every scene every dress every person so well you cant help but to feel like your really there. YOU MUST READ THE BOOK !!
Rating: Summary: exhilarating historical mystery Review: Francesca Cahill is a twenty-year-old woman born of very wealthy parents who want her to marry only a man from a socially prominent family. In 1901 NYC, if a woman didn't find a husband, she was considered an old maid but Francesca doesn't care about such frivolity. She wants a career as a sleuth and has successfully solved three murder cases to date. Her parents are putting pressure on her to see Calder Hart, a wealthy and prosperous lady's man who cares more about Francesca than she is willing recognize. Instead Francesca loves Calder's half brother Rick Bragg, the New York police Commissioner, who also happens to be a married man. When Bragg's niece is kidnapped, Calder, Rick and Francesca put aside their personal differences and work together to get her out of the hands of a murderer who will kill her if he doesn't get what he wants. Each Francesca Cahill mystery is better than the one before it. Brenda Joyce writes an exhilarating mystery that ends satisfactorily. However, the characters' stories continue in the next book in the series so that readers always have a feeling of home coming when they pick up the latest Francesca tale. Personally, this reviewer can't wait for the next romantic mystery in this enthralling series to come out. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: Captivating and a must read!!! Review: I am am huge fan of Brenda Joyce. This book is the fourth in the Francesca CaHill series. I first read Deadly Love and thought that it was okay but without any real development of the romance and passion which characterises Ms. Joyce's other books. However, I have just completed reading Deadly Affairs and Deadly Desire and simply could not put them down once I started... the increasing passion between Francesca and Bragg and the development of the sexual tension between Francesca and Calder, Bragg's brother, was too captivating. I really do think that Calder is the man for Francesca and I cannot wait to read the fifth book Deadly Caress and to see what happens next. Also, it was enjoyable to get to know the other characters, especially Francesca's brother Evan, who is engaged to a woman he does not love. There is an attraction between he and Maggie (Francesca's dressmaker, a working class mother of four) and it will be interesting to see if there is any further development in their relationship. I have only two regrets, that I have to wait for the next book to be published and that I didn't read Deadly Pleasure, the second book, which introduced Calder. I plan to get Deadly Pleasure a.s.a.p. and read it. I highly recommend the series and suggest anyone who is interested read all the books to fully understand the development of the story and the characters.
Rating: Summary: Not as desireable as previous books in series--- Review: I became acquainted with Brenda Joyce by purchasing Deadly Love because it was in the mystery section of a local bookstore and found myself intrigued by the heroine, plot line, time frame, and sensuality of her writing. I have also read Deadly Affairs, Deadly Pleasures, and was greatly anticipating Deadly Desire. Alas, I was sadly disappointed! It doesn't begin to live up to the other books, and seems to have been written in a great hurry and perhaps by several people writing different chapters. Whatever, the author needs to refrain from such frequent use of "she/he started and stared" ( this was in every other sentence!), and in general do more justice to her characters and tie up the dangling story lines: Connie and Neil, Evan/Sarah/Maggie, etc., and get on with Francesca and her frustrations. Enough already.
Rating: Summary: deliciously entertaining Review: I can't believe some of the dumb reviews this series has gotten. No one is pretending this series is supposed to be anything other than what it is. It is a romantic and mysterious series. It delivers on that in a fantastic way. Miss Cahill is a very likeable character. Someone suggested she was overwrought. Well, she is 20 years old and it is 1902, so seeing some of the shocking things she has encountered would cause that, especially in one so innocent. I find her endearing and would be very sad indeed were she any other way. She also has fallen in love for the first time in her life, so I would imagine she is going to have Mr. Bragg on her mind alot. Especially since this is a romance series. The mysteries are good, they keep me guessing. The...[extreme] chemistry between the characters is stunning and provacative. I love the triangle of Calder, Francesca, and Rick Bragg. I am not usually a big fan of romance, but Brenda Joyce has a way of writing that is very addicitive. At least in this series. I do not like her modern novels as well. This series is a guilty little pleasure one should allow themself, like a soap opera. It is not meant to be serious or brilliant, but in a way it is quite intelligent just fot the simple fact that it can whisk one away with such force. Is'nt that the point of reading sometimes? There is nothing like a good escape. Not every book is meant to make us think or expand our horizons for goodness sake. Anyone who does not like these books probably is not the type to sit in a hot bath and eat chocolates... If that is what you like, then read these books beginning with the first. You will not be disappointed.
