Review: I really enjoyed this book ,it always had you guessing and asking why.This book was very well written .Hot Johnny was a King of his time,he made all the right and wrong choices for him- self.Thats something we dont do,we always think about other peoples feelings and not our own. Each women had something she loved about Johnny,and thats what made him special.

Review: I really enjoyed this book. Although this book is for a more mature reader and you have to pay close attention to what you are reading so you do not get lost it is definitely a page turner.

Summary: I really tried...
Review: I really tried to like this novel. More importantly, I tried to finish it. No matter how hard I tried, I just could not get through it. I only gave it two stars because I liked the first chapter at first, but by the end of it, I was starting to get a feeling of dread. Maybe it was the topic of female genitalia mutilation, maybe not. But whatever it was, I just didn't get it. Maybe there were just too many voices, views and opinions, all by women, about one man. No matter how many I heard, I didn't feel that I was any closer to knowing who Johnny really was. Sighhhh. Sorry, y'all, but I just couldn't get with it!

Review: I was excited at first about this book because of the cover and the reviews. But I was disapponted when I started to read this book. I read it in spurs and I stopped half way through because it was B-O-R-I-N-G! I would not recommend this book to anyone.

Summary: LIES AND SECRETS MAKE A COMPLETE CIRCLE.
Review: John the Baptist Wright a man with good looks and green eyes. Women fell in love with him by just looking,Johnny loved them in return. Johnnys' loved was embedded in a web of lies,secrets,and sorted affairs from the love of his great-grandmother to his baby girl Miracle. Not to mention his love for Destiny his wife who could not beleived he loved her nor that she was pretty. His daugther Beauty Lynn who died of from the disease Sickle Cell at the tender age of two. In addition to loving hard Johnny had a hard life,he survied gangs, being shot, being a pimp, college, the army stationed in Africa. Ending up back in Chicago where it all started trying to find a family member to give his daugther bone marrow to save her life. Only to find members of his family he never knew. A wonderful told story of life and love.

Summary: Intellectually Intertwined
Review: Like some of the other reviewers, I too thought this novel was another meaningless love story about a player. It took my a long time to finally give it a chance. I'm so glad it did. To my pleasant surprise, "Hot Johnny" was a well written intellectually intertwined journey of all the women who loved or wanted to be loved by John the Wright Baptist. Opuku enable the reader to learn bits and pieces of the hot Johnny through the women who loved him. This novel was very creatively set in motion. I found myself reading chapter after chapter without pause. I had to find out what happened next. I would highly recommend this jewel to serious readers.

Summary: Surprise Surprise
Review: Lordy, Lordy, Ms Jackson-Opoku can write. I have to admit that when I started the book, I was not sure where it was headed. I was looking for lust and I found pathos and magnificently developoed characters. As a writer myself, I do not think it is fair to give away the surpises in this book, but they are there and they will stop you in your tracks. I used to wish I were a Hot Johnny, but not anymore.

Review: PAGES READERS GROUP - Hot Johnny And The Women Who Loved Him. The book is a myriad of tales that intertwine themselves around the main character, John "The Baptist" Wright. Obviously a man who's ability to capture the heart and mind and soul of each woman he encounters in his life, past and present.Almost like some of those heavyweight title fights from years ago, the vote on this book was a split-decision. Those that enjoyed it found that it dug into the heart and soul of a many on a serious venture to save the life of his daughter, Beauty The other side did not find a "flow" and agreed that the lack of it made the story complex and some characters, insignificant to the story. You could really never get a true sense of why these women liked him so much, other than the short description about "having Smokey Robinson" eyes. In short, reading this book is an aerobic exercise on the mind, while others may find some pleasure in having to work to enjoy it!

Summary: Incredible & Fascinating Storytelling
Review: Please don't mistake this novel for a romance novel because of the cover which I personally love the original cover the one with the beautiful chocolate sister. It is however a wonderfully written story with characters that are complicated. Johnny comes into the path of each of their lives and the puzzle of his life and the reason for his crossing into their lives is intense and wonderful! I felt as if I were sitting and having coffee with each one them I understood why each of them loved and hated Hot Johnny. The author's poetic language captivated me in each chapter I would find myself laughing because the characters were bold & crazy. You must be patient with this story it isn't a quick pageturner the chapters are long but very interesting. This title is not for amateur or readers who can't stick with a storyline or various characters. It's not fast paced but once you enter into one of the characters lives you won't want to put the book down you will want to finish each story...but then you must put it down and digest it. I enjoyed this title very much and have chosen it for my bookclub selection for July 2001.
