The historical characters come alive and it's almost like being there. Poor Cat. This is one book that should be included in every romance reader's library. NOT TO BE MISSED.

Rating: Summary: 4-1/2 stars actually because it was a slow starter Review: I almost gave up after reading the beginning. It was hard for me to follow trying to remember all the names and titles. Nevertheless, I'm glad I continued reading, it was worth it. Varian was a guy who's reputation was marred by his stupid uncle. I'm glad Nyssa didn't shun him as others had. He just wanted to be loved as he should be! I didn't realize that most of the facts less the Varian and Nyssa story was true. So I'm not a historian.
Rating: Summary: One or two flaws, otherwise a great read! Review: I love English history, and have always been fascinated by Tudor England. This book is a sequel to Ms. Small's "Blaze Wyndham", and stars her daughter, Nyssa. Nyssa is a lady in waiting to Henry's soon-to-be-discarded queen Anne of Cleves. While the characters were great, Varian (the hero) was hot and the sex steamy, and the history MOSTLY painstakingly researched, there is one flaw - Ms. Small consistently depicts characters as having first and middle names. No one during this time period in England had middle names. Only in Southern Europe did people have more than one "Christian" name, until about 1750 or so. I know this is a tiny detail, but it really, really bothered me! Painstaking research is so important in historicals, and I know there is endless dispute about details, but this is a major slipup. Aside from this quibble - enjoy, it's a great read!

Rating: Summary: Very interesting; very historical; steamy! Review: I really enjoyed this book! If you are an avid historian, love wild sex scenes, and love a sense of spicy danger this book is for you! It's interesting to see Henry VIII in this light. Good book!
Rating: Summary: The best romance book I have ever read... Review: Mrs. Small, this is your best work. I will always treasure this book. It was a lovely story, very romantic, no air heads heroines, just a down to earth beautiful story.
Rating: Summary: The best romance book I have ever read... Review: Ms. Small's tale of love in Henry Tudor's court was wonderfully entertaining. I have always enjoyed Ms. Small's work since reading Skye O'Malley and have become fascinated with Elizabethian history because of it. This author is able to weave characters that we truly care about into very accurate accounts of history with such finesse. Her readers become one with the novel and and truly care what happens to each character. Though this book may not be as erotic as some of her other novel (i.e., Hellion and the Love Slave), this book is a true romance. Nyssa learns to love her husband, and will do anything to ensure that this loves survives. She is faithful, discreet and loving. The title is appropriate and yes, though it all, love remembered Nyssa and Varian. This book warmed my heart and I hope that Ms. Small will continue to create such strong, vibrant characters.

Rating: Summary: Bertie Missed Her True Calling Review: Normally I loathe Bertrice Small's romance novels. But this, this was no simple romance novel. This book is a historical novel of the top flight. Yeah, okay, there's (great) romance in it, but it isn't the pivot of the plot. The intrigues between Henry VIII, his "Flanders mare" Anne of Cleves, his adulterous fifth wife Catherine Howard, and the over ambitious Duke of Norfolk are the true players in this historical tale. We are given the chance to see Anne and Catherine from a point of view much more sympathetic than most history books would offer. In short, if you prefer history to romance, this might be a good book to investigate.
