Summary: A Breathtaking Adventure
Review: Amanda Quick's Dangerous trounces most of the novels in the historical genre. The story is absolutely fabulous. This was the first Amanda Quick story I ever read and I have been hooked ever since.

Prudence Merryweather is a young woman who investigates the paranormal. She is a self proclaimed blue-stocking who has no interest in fashionable sociey. She is willing to risk everything to prevent her brother from dueling with Sebastian, the Earl of Angelstone.

Sebastian also known as the Fallen Angel is mysterious and misunderstood by sociey. He is a man who has spent too much time in the shadows and is positively fascinated by Prudence.

The two join up to investigate ghosts who are haunting several members of the ton. Sebastian is awed by Prudence's spirit and personality. Prudence is determined to prove the Fallen Angel doesn't deserve his nickname. The two are married due to extenuating circumstances and Prudence finally manages to thaw Sebastian's frozen heart.

Affair has everything any reader of romance needs for a sucessful story. The plot, characters, and dialogue are exceptional. Don't let this book pass you by.

Summary: Disappointig
Review: Having previously read Seduced by Amanda Quick, I was quite eager to purchase another of her books as I thoroughly enjoyed Seduced. But I have to say that I was sorely disappointed with Dangerous. Firstly, there was little or no chemistry between the two main characters, Prudence and Sebastian. They were quite boring and the constant referals to him as the devil himself and the Fallen Angel became quite overbearing and repetitive. Prudence was an annoying berating female that was constantly ordering Sebastian to be mature and to do what she expected him to do. Her constant nagging and outrage made me squirm and dislike her even more. I could not see how they came to be in love because there was no depth to their relationship....

Summary: Pretty tedious
Review: I decided that it was time to try Amanda Quick, since she seems to receive a lot of recommendations on this site. However, if Dangerous is a fair sample of her work, as the reviews here seem to suggest, I won't be reading anything by her again.

The first thing which irritates me is that Ms Quick is clearly not a writer to allow historical accuracy, in relation to societal manners and mores, get in the way of her desired plot-line. I don't see the point in writing novels set in a particular period in history if the novelist is going to write about situations which simply would not have happened because the normal behaviour of the time wouldn't have permitted it. So, for example, no matter how much Prudence might have wanted it, she would not have been permitted to spend so much time alone with Sebastian at the various entertainments she attended; as an unmarried woman, even on the shelf as she'd be presumed to be at 25, she would have been chaperoned very closely. And as for calling him Sebastian before they were even engaged, let alone married...

But besides that, this was a book which would have been far better as a 200-page short Regency. After Prue and Sebastian were married, it lost all interest and simply became boring. The 'investigations' sub-plot was tedious and uninteresting, and the lack of any real tension between the two principals meant that I was turning pages merely to finish the book.

I doubt I'll be reading anything else by this writer; perhaps her fans look for different things from their historical romances than I do.

Summary: unimpressive...
Review: I didn't pick up this book with any expectations. I picked it because the back sounded intresting and I needed a good novel. I managed to read it in one night. The book was alright but it could have been a lot better if the author paid attention to a few more details. The plot was quite quirky though and I liked the fact that the heroine wore glasses. It's the first romance I've read where either of the couple needs glasses. It adds a touch of reality to the story and it helped a lot. I also found myself laughing aloud at some of the select parts, particulary at Prudence.

Summary: Capture My Interest
Review: I enjoyed this book. I will admit I usually like a little more love making scenes in the romances I read, but this one caught my interest right from the beginning to end.

The Story and the characters are orginal, and don't remind me of copies, from other books I've read. And I will always love a book with Romance and laughter combined.

Summary: "Quick" Witted
Review: I have been quickly accumulating all of Amanda Quick's romances, and this one did not fail to meet my expectations!

I, too, dislike the name Prudence for the heroine, but as "Prue", the name is quite endearing. I love the fact Ms. Quick gives her a "ghost hunting" hobby which matches the hero's passion for excitement.

What draws the reader most to this story is that the characters, far from being "diamonds of the first water" are very down to earth, extremely likeable, and endearing. Prue wears spectacles and Sebastian is consumed by periods of melancholia and despair. Prue's sunny disposition melts the chill in his heart. It is quite entertaining to read their "rows" with each other and it is funny to see Prue stand up to the man whom has been named "The Fallen Angel".

Definitely add this book to your library, should you have the chance!

Summary: Another winner for Quick
Review: I must say that of all the Amanda Quick books I have read thus far, "Dangerous" is tied with "Mystique" in the running of my personal favorite.

Although Quick seems to use the same formula for all of historical romances (heroine with one distinct quirk + hero who needs to be taught to love and laugh = a love that will make you laugh, cry, and sigh), "Dangerous" had a few twists that gave it a distinct, well, likeability (No, that's not a real word but it captures the mood).

Prue (I can't stand the name Prudence but I love the nickname) is a refreshing character who is as artless and kind as she is quirky and intelligent. I like how in this particular novel, her quirk of solving mysteries is shared by the hero.

Sebastian is a delight. He lives up to most readers expectations as dark, mysterious, and badly in need of the heroine's love (whether he knows it or not) but his 'humoring' Prue is a treat to watch and his embracing of Prue's talent is a deviation from Quick's norm and makes it that much more enjoyable.

This book is more a sweet romance than a passionate one but contains witty dialogue, fun characters, and a fairly decent mystery (Although the end was very lacking. The murder's reaction when caught was disappointing and seemed forced).

All in all, a very enjoyable read.
