Summary: I love a heroine who can kick buns!
Review: Connie Mason has done it again - another great read. Connie Mason had always been one my favourite historical romance authors and she never disappoints:-
The arrogant Lionheart has been orded by Prince Edward to storm Cragdon Castle, while doing so he spots the White Kight, a slim young worrior on a pure white steed, leading the defending forces. Unable to reach the Kight he storms through the portcullis in search of him but all he finds is a beautiful maiden. Now a different battle begins, one that needs subtler tactics. But just as he thought he had the upper hand, his heart is taken hostage - by the power of love.
Once again a fantastic read full of chivalry, tournaments, lust and love!
If you liked The Black Knight by Connie Mason then you'll love this!

Summary: Smooth Romance Candy! You Go Connie :)
Review: Connie Mason transports us back to Northeast Wales, 1258. While engaged in a battle and storming Cragdom Lionheart (Lionel de Couer) first sees the "White Knight". Enraged by the arrogance and sophistication of the White Knight's demeanor in battle, Lionheart dedicates himself to tracking down this knight and making him pay for besting him and his men on the battle field.
As he takes over Cragdom he is greeted by the Vanora, lady of the Castle. She is a stunning beauty with a confident air that he is unused to when dealing with women. He finds himself captivated, in fact driven to complete blind lust in his pursuit to bed her. Finding himself suddenly married by a Priest who demands that he make his bond with Vanora official before bedding her, makes for all sorts of interesting adventures.

The introduction of his former mistress Althea is entertaining and fun. Watching Lionheart squirm as he juggles his wife and former lover makes for some awkward moments.

Throughout the story, Vanora continues her disguise as the White Knight as her loyalty to her castle men drives her to warn them of Lionheart's pursuit of them. When Lionheart finds out, he is furious. What comes next, you'll have to read the book to see!

Connie Mason's story of love touches a chord, though this book is not far from the beaten path Connie writes, it is still one I enjoy taking. Ms. Mason's writing style is always smooth, the story always entertaining, and the hero and heroine ones you seek when reading a romance.

I have yet to read a Connie Mason book I have not enjoyed. Perhaps that is the sign of a masterful writer...

Summary: Disapppointed
Review: I haven't read too many books by Connie Mason even though she seems to have a lot of titles out, but I did read this one though, and it wasn't a very good experience. First of all, I thought that the 2 main characters, Lionheart and Vanora, had no TRUE personalities. One minute they're extremely angry at each other...the next, they have their clothing off and have seemed to have forgotten the fact that they're enemies. Secondly, the story itself was kind of unbelievable. The fact that Lionheart had absolutely no suspicions whatsoever about who the white knight is, just makes me believe that he's totally ignorant! Even if he hadn't suspected Vanora because she's a woman, he probably should have at least suspected one of her men. Another thing, If he was that desperate about capturing this knight, he would have tried harder in getting the info out of Cragdon's inhabitants since they obviously would know something about this mysterious person. Throughout the whole book, I was never really pulled into the story itself. It just felt like the book didn't really have a main point at all. The only one I could come up with after reading it was: two people from different sides in a war were madly lusting each other. Without more than a few minutes of thinking, he agrees to marry her just because he couldn't control his animal urges?! That's a little 2 unbelieveable to me. I didn't find this book romantic at all...just full of sex scenes. It was so difficult for me to finish this book. I'm not sure if I'm going to pick up another Connie Mason book any time soon. If I were to recommand a book, I would say read "Lord of the Dragon" by Suzanne Robinson. That one has it all, including witty believable characters and a great love story full of romance.

Summary: I love a heroine who can kick buns!
Review: I'm always drawn to stories where the leading lady isn't a dainty little thing, but is instead a strong and fearless warrior. Connie Mason made this heroine tall, muscular and brave, yet still feminine enough to fall into the romantic role. You enjoy reading as "Venora" engages in exciting sword battles, as well as reading her take on femnine tasks such as midwifery.
Classic "love ya", "hate ya", "love ya" storyline, but it never gets boring. These two main characters are electric together. I got several laughs out of their stubborn tongue battles. I got a lot of enjoyment out of the firey love scenes as well.
My only complaint... Connie, can't you find a better word for the male anatomy?

Summary: Great, must read book
Review: If you love Connie Mason's writing, you will love this book! I would disagree with the previous comment, I think Connie Mason is getting better. She captured both Vanora's and Lionheart's emotions and personality perfectly. Lionheart appreciated and loved Vanora's bold, independent spirit which brought out his love for her in the end. Vanora fell in love with him after she sees how tender he is to her when in the past she has seen and felt the ruthless behavoir of men who tried to rule her land and herself. Connie Mason wrote this in a great historical time and place. I hope she writes more books similar to this book!

It's a worthwhile entertaining book to read and to keep as a collectible. Have plenty of time to read this book, it will have you glued to the pages! =o)

Summary: fast-paced medieval romance
Review: In the middle thirteenth century, Lionheart, as a good loyal soldier, follows orders to lead his men on an assault of the Welsh stronghold Cragdon Castle. Leading the opposition is a slim young warrior who looks too young to shave, but shows courage, skill, and audacious before realizing the impossibility of the task at defending the keep. Lionheart plans to capture the White Knight, but as he and his men rush into the castle, his elusive foe is gone.

Instead of a warrior ready to duel to the death, the beautiful Vanora greets Lionheart. It is unbelievable to this warrior who has conquered many an enemy on the battlefield that he loses his renowned calm and wants Vanora in his bed. To have her means to marry her, which both reluctantly accept. However, he may be under her spell, but using his brain he knows she hides something from him.

The theme of the beastly male who knows not of love and the intrepid female willing to take up arms for a worthy cause has starred as the theme of many a romance novel. Connie Mason uses that motif to provide her myriad of fans with a delightfully battle of wits, loyalty, and ardor through two cherished lead protagonists. The medieval era story line never slows down as LIONHEART and Vanora struggle between an attraction loyalty growing into love and conflicting patriotism.

Summary: Connie Mason RULES!
Review: Lionheart had been ordered by Prince Edward to take Cragdon Castle. That siege was where he first met the White Knight. However, once the castle had been claimed, the White Knight was nowhere to be found. Instead there was the lady of the keep, Vanora. The earlier battle had allowed cover for the escape of Daffid of Deverell and the White Knight. Lionheart soon had a vendetta against the elusive White Knight. In the meantime, Lionheart found himself obsessed with Vanora. His honor refused to allow him to simply claim her as the spoils of war. She was loyal to Wales and Llewelyn. He was loyal to England and Prince Edward. To have her, he would have to marry her.

Lord Rhys of Cragdon, Vanora's father, had died the Winter before. His warriors were now loyal to Vanora. But they were no match for Lionheart's forces. Through cunning, she helped her warriors escape, enraging Lionheart no end. Yet as she fought him, she could not stop herself from wanting him. To have him, though, would be a form of betrayal.

**** A steamy romance, wrought with betrayal, that will ensnare readers quickly. There are times the book seemed to slow down where romance is concerned. However, it overflows with battles and is historically accurate. It is immediately apparent that Vanora is the White Knight. No reader could NOT catch on to that fact before the castle is even captured. Yet the author kept the battle scenes of the White Knight realistic by making the allusive knight slim, wield a lighter sword, and not be as well trained as the men in that time frame. This is not Connie Mason's best work, by far, but I still found myself hooked in the story and unable to stop reading until the last page had been turned. Well worth your time and money. ****
