Summary: A REAL PAGE-TURNER............
Review: The reader of this novel will simply not be able to put it down. Mikki and Randy seem to have the idea marriage; she owns her own bridal design boutique, and Randy is a successful marketing exec. But a lucrative marketing account and the opportunity to further his career beckons Randy to Paris...leaving Mikki to fend for herself in their Brooklyn brownstone. Randy, feeling slightly guilty, enlists the help of best friend Marcus to keep an eye out for his wife. And Marcus does his job well--too well, as Mikki and Marcus find themselves involved in a steamy love affair.

The abrupt return of Randy from Europe throws a monkey wrench into their shenanigans....and the drama heats up when Randy finds out exactly what's been going on while he was away.

Despite the slow beginning, the book picks up dramatically, making it difficult to put down. The only thing saving the novel from being given 5 stars, in my opinion, was its lackluster ending. It was abrupt, unexpected, and left the reader yearning for more. Is it possible that the authors are positioning for a sequel? We can only hope......

Summary: interesting ...yet lacked originality
Review: The story of Mikhi and Randy Murphy raises the question of whether or not marriage can survive infidelity. It's story that holds your interest just long enough to reveal how the adulters will be found out. Then becomes very predictable afterward. Toward the end of the story I found the book stale. I was simply reading to found out how everything would be put back in it's place. The ending was never questionable. I knew Mikhi would mend her friendship and be reunited with her husband.

There were loose ends that needed closure. Why didn't Mikhi or Randy ever really have a conversation with Marcus to understand his actions? What was Randy's relationship with Eliza after the bathroom deal? How realistic was it that all of the couple's family and friends felt that the marriage could or should be salvaged given the details of what happened.

This story was intersting and at times humorous. The character's were a little to "plastic" for my taste. So many contemperary novels by and about African-Americans center around character's that are top executives at Fortune 500 companies and driving luxury cars while wearing designer dudes. Although that's a nice contrast from the stories of "life in the hood" it's become a predicable setting for so many characters we read about. I wanted to feel something for these characters and the constant "buppie" references and label dropping wasn't impressive. Even while Randy hid in the closet at the high point of the story he mentioned the fact that he was standing on his expensive shoes.I found the constant references to their belongings a distraction right on up to the final chapter.

Summary: Too Much Work for a Predictible Ending
Review: There was way too much detail and not enough attention to the story. Why did I have to read about every past life event while the author was describing a current situation? I do not like that type of writing style.

Summary: Wonderful
Review: This book provides romance, laughter and intrigue. The only word I can use to describe this book is "WONDERFUL!"

Summary: Can you believe he/she did/said that?
Review: This is a delightful novel about the trials of marriage. Mehki (mikki) Chance-Murphy and Randy Murphy are a couple on the brink. Niether persons seems to know exactly when and where things started going wrong in their three year marriage.

Mikki's in Brooklyn running her bridal boutique blaming Randy for deserting her and leaving her alone, although he's in Paris on Business. Randy is in Paris (climbing the corporate ladder) thinking he's pushed his wife to the edge with his desire to start a family.

Each member of the couple has some marital indescretions while trying to figure out what happened to their love. Each chapter gives you either Mikki or Randy's view of what's going on. The story line is engaging and you can't put it down until you find out exactly what is going to happen in the Chance-Murphy marriage. The authors are very skilled in their ability to get you to empathize with both characters. At times you have to question who's side you're on and then find yourself wondering why you are choosing sides and not rooting for the marriage.

This book is an eye-opener for newly married or engaged couples because it shows you that even after you find the one, you have to work to keep the love alive.

Summary: He said, she said
Review: This novel gives the account of a couple different viewpoints on their marriage. The big question is whether or not their marriage can survive a long distance relationship when Randy is sent to Paris by the ad agency he works for. This leaves Mikki at home thousands of miles away. She's scared and she's lonely and she needs comforting. Now, add infidelity into the mix, then what happens?

Both characters have different viewpoints on what is happening to their marriage, which has been shaky, even before the separation. I think the authors did a great job of getting the reader into the heads of the characters and letting the readers in on the thought process of both characters.

Not only are Mikki and Randy interesting characters. They have some good secondary characters with Angelou and Zaria. Mikki's parents have their own interesting story. Altogether these people will keep you interested and wanting to know more in this thought provoking book.

Summary: It was ok
Review: This was a book about marriage, and the problems that can come up. I didn't really care for Mikki, the wife's characther at all, I don't think being able to compromise was in her at all, not saying that Randy was the perfect husband, but at least he tried. I don't think Mikki got what got what she deserved, but it was an ok read.

Summary: I said, You said
Review: This was a very different read for me. While reading I felt like I was torn between two friends. Throughtout the book we read two points of views representing the Murphys' marriage. Initially the style was hard for me, but after a while I began to look forward to how they each felt regarding the same situation.

Randy Murphy was working hard at gaining a six-figure salary. In order to become one ot the top Ad Exec making that kind of money his job took him out of the country for months at a time. A fact his wife Mekhi found hard to live with and understand.

As the saying goes "When the mice is away the cats will play" and play is what they both did. An unexpected turn of events forces Randy and Mekhi to almost see a mirror image of themselves in their marriage.

This book is written for anyone who might've forgotten the true meaning of communication and the pain silent agreements can cause. I plan to pick up future books by this husband and wife duo.
