Summary: Funny, romantic, and very different!
Review: This is my third Amenda Quick book and once again I really enjoyed it. Although it may not be a tear jerker, it is really heart warming and funny. Olympia is the type of lady I prefer in a romantic novel, smart, opinionated, and fair. Her commitment to her study is so much more interesting than your typical soft, meek, beautiful lady. It is really funny how Jared is an outcast of his hot-blooded family is transformed through the relationship with Olympia. It is refreshing to find that the couple is not fighting, hurt, or jealous of each other which seems to be the theme of many romantic novels. Although they may be very different in their personalities, they are quite the charming couple. Jared's father and uncle were really amuzing contrast from him, while Olympia's nephews added a lot of warmth to the story. It was also funny when Olympia realized Jared was a Viscount, but continued to boss him around as usual. This is a light hearted novel and I truely enjoyed it one sunday.

Summary: Watching paint dry! How disappointing...
Review: What a disappointment! I'm usually a fan of Amanda Quick/Jayne Ann Krentz because I love the sizzling relationships between her lead characters. But definitely skip Deception!
The main female character, Olympia, is dim, dull and wimpy. She has no spunk, no fire, no pizazz. She rolls over and lets this stranger enter her life and takeover her family.
The main male character, Jared, is dull, boring and prissy. He leaves you as cold as a lettuce leaf.
Where's the spark, Amanda? Where are the firey debates and heated passionate fights between these two? Where is the female character's resistance? The male character's passion?
I was horrified by this book. It was about as exciting as reading about an affair between a carrot and a tomato!
Here's the basic premise: Dull boring man becomes tutor to dull boring woman's nephews. Dull boring man moves into woman's house and within days is bossing her around giving orders. Dull boring woman accepts orders like a meek mouse. Dull boring man threatens dull boring woman's reputation by taking a holiday to London with her. Dull boring woman spends her whole time running about worrying about HIS reputation. Dull couple marry. Dull couple have maybe 1 or 2 half-hearted squabbles but woman always ends up apologizing while trying to solve some silly clue hidden in a book. Zzzzzz...
This is a rare misfire for this good author. Don't waste your time!
