Summary: From "The Bachelorette Pact" series - Highly recommended
Review: A single girl's worst nightmare comes true when astrophysicist Mickey Coleman sleeps with a coworker who videotapes their night together. Now he demands another night with Mickey or he will make the tape public. Rather than yield to such an outrageous ultimatum, Mickey decides to steal the tape. Unsuccessful on her own, Mickey hires a man with mob connections.

Until Mickey comes along, Dominic Corlucci values self-preservation at all costs. One slip and he could loose two years of work or his life. He agrees to help Mickey much against his better judgement, despite her obvious attempt at deception with her wigs and spandex. The result is scintillating romance that makes their toes curl, even as Dominic risks blowing his case.

Author Kathleen O'Reilly pens an engaging romance in IT SHOULD HAPPEN TO YOU. Quirky characterizations add zest to a fun tale that combines comedy and intrigue in a light mix readers will treasure. Both Mickey and Dominic are forced to think outside the box, yet manage to still remain to their characters. Indeed, Mickey's love of the stars puts a light in her eye that Dominic cannot walk away from, despite his better judgement. An engaging read, IT SHOULD HAPPEN TO YOU makes an excellent, light read that comes highly recommended.

Summary: engaging contemporary romance
Review: In Chicago, physicist Mickey Coleman regrets getting drunk at a bachelorette party and behaving out of character by having sex with John an intern, who taped their session. John tries to blackmail Mickey into more sex by threatening to release the tape on the internet. Though that would shatter her father and hurt her career studying galaxy density differentiation at the Astrophysical Science Research Center, Mickey decides to steal the tape.

She tells her bachelorette pact pal Beth about her dilemma. Beth arranges for Mickey to meet thief Dominic Corlucci, who wants to say no, but reluctantly agrees to help Mickey. As they work together to snatch the tape, they fall in love. She wonders if she can reform this bad boy unaware that the thief who captured her heart is an undercover cop trying to find evidence of a kickback scheme involving a local alderman.

This is an engaging contemporary romance starring a brilliant scientist and an intelligent police officer. The tale is fun to follow as Mickey realizes she is falling in love with the wrong type of guy and Dominic knows his work does not allow for permanent relationships. The latest bachelorette pact tale is a wonderful under the covers romance.

Summary: Another winner from O'Reilly...
Review: It Should Happen to You
- Kathleen O'Reilly

Hot guy. Smart girl. Steamy [affair]. Blackmail brought them together?

The last thing that super smart, astrophysicist Michelle "Mickey" Coleman expected was to be blackmailed after her best friend's bachelorette party. For Mickey, the loss of her best friend to marriage after making the Bachelorette Pact was just the last straw. What had started out as a bad evening, went rapidly downhill after drowning her sorrows in the bottom of more than a few glasses, getting blindingly drunk and having sex with an ambitious intern at the company Mickey works for. Now he wants more from her than just a drunken, one night fling and is willing to blackmail her with a video he taped of them during their previous encounter to get it. What's a genius to do?

Hire a "professional", of course. As is the case more often than not, the course of true love never did run smooth, especially in the case of undercover cop Dominic Corlucci/Cordano. Running from a past he couldn't escape in his mind, he reluctantly agrees to help the woman in disguise seated before him. Looking for a solid way in to "The Family", he needs Mickey's help for a mob wedding. Things get sticky when his good-hearted but slightly dim Family pal falls in love with the Boss's abused wife and wants Dom to bring Mickey on a double date. Just when he thought his life couldn't get anymore complicated, he finds himself falling for Mickey while trying to keep afloat in the treacherous sea of Family life.

When Mickey realizes she has started to tumble head over heels for the sexy bad boy she wonders how this love can survive. Especially with a macho Mafioso man.

Kathleen O'Reilly is one of those authors that just keep getting better with every book that she writes. A delight to be sure, she delivers yet another winner in this fun and fast paced second book of her addictive Bachelorette Pact series. Having read the first book in the series about Jessica, I was excited to read and review Mickey's story. "It Should Happen to You" is a truly engaging contemporary romance between a brainy scientist trying to make a stellar future for herself and an intelligent cop trying to make amends for his past. I didn't want to put it down until I had read the very last page. "It Should Happen to You" was an extremely entertaining, sexy read that made me wish next month was already here so that I could continue the hot and highly enjoyable Bachelorette Pact series with her third book, "Breakfast at Bethany's". Look for Beth's story in stores May 2004.

Summary: This author gets better and better!
Review: Michelle "Mickey" Coleman had always been the smart one of the group. Just her IQ intimidated men! But during Jessica's bachelorette party Mickey had a temporary lapse of sanity. She disappeared with John, an intern from work, for a one night stand. She had no idea John videotaped them together. Now Mickey is being blackmailed by John. Either she goes to John's apartment when he wants her or his was going to ruin her career in the astrophysics field. Mickey needed to hire professional help to get the tape from John.

Dominic "Dom" Cordano was undercover (think Mafia). But when the lady, obviously in disguise, wanted to pay him to break into someone's apartment to get a video tape, he agreed. Everything instinct he had told him to say no. Yet he ended up playing his role to the hilt and helping Michelle. While together one night they ran into Amber, the Boss's abused wife. Mickey stopped to comfort Amber who had just been beaten. Soon afterward Dom said his final fair well to Mickey.

But it was too late. When one of the bad guys fell in love with Amber, they decide to go on a date behind her husband's back. And she insisted that Dom had to double date with Michelle. Like it or not, Michelle was about to be in the line of fire!

***** Now this one has some serious action in it! An awesome addition to what is becoming an addictive little series. Jessica makes a few cameos which made the story even more realistic to me. Readers, this is an author to keep your eye on. She seems to get better with each book she writes! Recommended! *****

Summary: Contemporary but with some serious topics
Review: Mickey Coleman has a problem. One of her co-workers, a semi-cute intern, took a video of the one time Mickey had a few drinks too many and had sex with him. The intern is blackmailing her to do it again, but for Mickey, the sex wasn't that great. So, when her friend Beth tells her she knows a criminal-type who can help, Mickey decides to give it a whirl. Dominic Corlucci is a dangerous man. Connected in the Chicago Mafia, damaged by youthful mistakes, and fighting a losing battle for self-respect, Dominic knows that he should just tell Mickey to move on. The combination of her great legs, her story, and pure chemistry keeps him from doing it--even though he knows he's playing with fire. He agrees to help Mickey--if she'll go out to dinner with him.

Mickey doesn't do men. She's a scientist, an astronomer who knows more about the stars than she does about the male of the species. But she knows she's found something special with Dominic. He creates sparks she's never imagined before--but he's a Mafia goomba type. She tells herself that she'll be bad just once, but how can she keep herself from falling into his arms again, every time he'll take her.

Author Kathleen O'Reilly maintains the light tone of the series but introduces the more serious topics of abuse, organized crime, and official corruption into her story. Mickey makes a great heroine, conflicted by her ambition at work and her hormonal attraction to the dangerous Dominic. And Dominic is the type of damaged hero that women just want to fix--especially since he's six-foot something of pure muscle and sex.

As with the other books in this series, much of the pleasure comes from the relationship between the four women: Beth, Mickey, Cassandra, and the newly married Jessica. Instant messaging gives the story a contemporary feel and lets the characters interact and display their emotions in a fun and unusual way.
