Summary: I read this in 3 hours
Review: Daaimah S. Poole, 23 University student has written her first novel, it is da bomb yall...Yup that's right I loved this book. I'm looking for the love CD and the video..associated with this book.

The story starts with Kayla finding out her college roommate is getting married and leaving school. Kayla moves out of the dorms and gets her own apartment. She struggles with school, working as a waitress and trying to find L-O-V-E.

Kayla tired and needing sleep decides to quit her job waitressing.

The story begins to move from this point on, page after page of fun, easy reading and interesting characters. Kayla is pressed to find love, she wants love and thinks she needs it.

The language used in this book is hip. The points are clearly spelled out in the book. I like the way Kaylas tells her story, you are right there with her, even when she's thinking or just kidding.

I fell in love with Kayla she knew was head strong and truly believed she knew what she wanted until she had it all and didn't know what to do with it.

While reading this book I was saddened that it had to end, it certaionly reads like "I need more" I will be on the look out for Ms Daaimah Poole, she will certainly give some a run for their money. Watch out yall she has a book coming out possibly called "You Don't Understand"

Place this on your To read or purchase list you won't be disappointed.

Summary: Good Debut Novel!
Review: My mother received this book from the author and after she read it she thought that it might be a book that I would like since it appeared to be written for my age group. Well, maybe it was, but I definitely had to set my mother straight and assure her that I didn't hang like the main character -Kayla Simone Johnson-nor did any of my friends act or think that way. Once I got that straight and settled down to read Yo Yo Love by Daaimah Poole I found an entertaining, quick and easy read. But gosh did the main character get on my last nerves. I kept thinking do young African American women with any ounce of common sense really act like Kayla? All I can say, is that I hope not! In fact, as I read the book, I kept wondering who are these characters. But then I reminded myself this is a book of fiction not one based on my life story. All-in-All, I thought Yo Yo Love was a good debut novel and it definitely addresses a target that needs to be addressed. My only regret was that Kayla still didn't show any growth by the end of the story. Maybe if I could drag Kayla from out of the pages of this book and slap some sense into her every thing would be okay and I would feel satisfied.

Summary: I LovE IT!
Review: When I first saw this book at the store I knew it would be one I wanted to read. As soon as it was bought I started to read. I couldn't put the book down. Daaimah S. Poole really did it when she wrote this one.
The book had one main character and her name was Kayla Johnson. At the time in the book she was a student at Temple University. Being a student at college was stressful and hard but it didn't come close to her biggest challenge of trying to find Mr. Right.
The first guy Kayla starts to date is Emar, the basketball hotshot. Terry was the next guy and just freaked her out when he took her for a weekend getaway to New Jersey. Kayla was so excited when she met Reese because she thought he was it. Unfortunately Reese was being a player and already had a girlfriend. This next guy ,Will, is really the one who rocks her world. He is basically her first love and the guy who she fights for.
The adventures that Will takes her through are mind boggling. When reading this book you go from "Awww he is so sweet!" to "He is such a Jerk!!". I think that in ways he was both good and bad for Kayla. She learned a lot from Will. To learn how to fight for what you want and your own independance is a big deal. With Will she did all of that.
I think this book has a edgy and wildly entertaining click to it. Once you will start to read it you won't be able to put it down. It is a book that all women should read.

Summary: What Goes Up...
Review: I seriously DID NOT think I would enjoy this book. I thought it would be your typical AA novel filled with deceit, drama, cheating men -- and some more drama. "Yo Yo Love" was way more than that. I laughed till I cried.
Kayla S. Johnson is a 20 year old college student at Temple University in Pennsylvania. She is doing her thing for a women her age. She is independent and goes for what she wants. She dates a stream of different guys and they all turn out to be LOSERS with capital L -- That is until she meets Wil. Not only does he have a job and is also doing his thing. He's older -- He seems to definatly have it going on, so Kayla thinks. Wil has a few secrets, and they are NOT pretty... But you'll have to read to find out.
This was definatly a good one. two thumbs up for Daaimah S. Poole. I would definatly recommend it to those who love a little dramady in their novels. ;)

Summary: The Dating Game.
Review: YO YO LOVE examines the dating scene of Kayla Johnson, a regular college student who only wants one thing in this world-a "boo". Herein lies the problem. When your standard are not clearly defined, then whom ever comes your way, will look good. Kayla's wasn't, because if he has a heartbeat, it all gravy. After dealing with a string of losers, handsome and well-to-do Wil shows his face and makes her days and nights worth living. What Wil didn't tell Kayla is that his love comes with baggage that may not be that easy to leave behind, and it's heavy enough that she may have to look at fella number two, Samir, who ain't playing in the perfect league himself. Kayla choices may not be the brightest ones, but her decisions are the heart of the story, especially when she's too willing to risk her heart and her self-respect for someone who only cares about his own. Good work, Ms. Poole!
