Rating: Summary: The best Harlequin Superromance of April 2004! Review: I couldn't put this book down, I loved it! Inglath Cooper writes like a mix between Luanne Rice and Danielle Steel. (I could make some parallels between this book and Steel's Journey) A fascinating writer who wove a story that had all the vital elements. Highly recommended!

Rating: Summary: Another winner from Inglath Cooper Review: JOHN RILEY'S GIRL by Inglath CooperJOHN RILEY'S GIRL by Inglath Cooper is the story of a woman who finds herself back home in a town where the only happy memories of her childhood was that of her first sweetheart, John Riley. Because of a high school reunion, Olivia Ashford travels back to her hometown of Summerville, Virginia and back through time to reminisce with old friends and remember the love that never left her. Olivia is a famous news anchor on a national cable TV station, but fifteen years ago she was living in a small town, going to high school and deeply in love with John Riley. Everyone thought they would have a happily-ever-after, but because of a secret that Olivia never shared with anyone, their story ended when she graduated from high school. Abruptly leaving town and her father, Olivia went on to become a successful woman in the world of broadcasting. Coming home to Summerville, however, helped Olivia remember who she really was. John Riley has never forgiven Olivia for leaving him without a trace, without a word of explanation. Now that Olivia's back in town, John's anger is out of control. John is still mourning a wife that had passed away only a few years ago, and it is his daughter he lives for. Going through the guilt that he never loved his wife enough because of the love he still felt for Olivia, John goes through each day carrying a burden that cannot be lifted. At the reunion, it is obvious to everyone that John and Olivia have never forgotten the love they once shared, but because of Olivia's secrets, John's anger prevents him from having even a simple conversation with her. Olivia is not looking for reconciliation with John. She only wants to let go of the past and be able to move on. JOHN RILEY'S GIRL by Inglath Cooper has to be one of my favorite Harlequin Superromances that I've read in the past few years. She was able to make the reader feel as if we were experiencing the sights and sounds of the countryside of Summerville. Her ability to make the reader empathize with the characters impressed me. I found myself reminiscing about the good old days, just as her characters did. This reviewer highly recommends JOHN RILEY'S GIRL.
Rating: Summary: Heartwarming, romantic and memorable Review: John Riley's Girl is the kind of book that you can't put down, the kind that you could stay up all night reading and not feel tired, but yet you want to save some of it so that you have something to look forward to. When I was reading this story, I kept wishing that I could keep reading and reading and not have to come to the last page, even though I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen. The author has the ability to allow the reader to live the story through the dialogue between characters, descriptions of the settings, and the detailed thoughts that the characters are feeling. Reading John Riley's girl was much better than going to a movie. I felt like I personaly knew the characters well enough to have to remind myself that I was really reading the story, not living it. John Riley's girl is fresh, romantic, heartwarming and very memorable. The characters are attractive, intelligent and share a deep down in thier souls kind of love - the kind that you just have to sigh and want to think about a long time. After reading John Riley's Girl, I couldn't start another book for a long while because I had to keep the feeling of this one, strong in my mind and heart for as long as I could. It is a story that I will always remember and will re-read over and over.
