Rating: Summary: fun chick lit turns into a fine contemporary romance Review: Co-partner of the Toy Boxx, Haley Watson is sick of dating Prince Charming types, who profess everlasting love, but quickly turn into toads practicing sex with other women. She decides no more regal hunks for her. Haley will only date frogs who frequent libraries or computer stores.Bike store owner Rick Samuels is of that former species that Haley once thirsted for, but though he makes a move, she says no. Rick is not happy with the rejection, but even angrier over the reason. He plans to teach Haley not to stereotype as this hunk is going to prove that he is intelligent, caring, and faithful (an aside from moi: sounds like my dog Maxie). With the encouragement of Haley's TV personality mom, Rick begins a campaign to teach a lesson but soon changes into removing his name from the most eligible bachelor list. FORGET PRINCE CHARMING is a fun tale that starts as a chick lit, but turns into a contemporary romance. The story line picks up speed after Haley's pronouncement of rejecting genus hunkus as a worthless species because Rick knows what he wants and refuses to accept her debilitating classification of him. Though his behavior seems insensitive to her desires, genre fans will enjoy this tale once the battle lines are drawn and it appears based on mom's announcement that a sequel is in the works involving Rick's cousin. Rating: Summary: Fantastic!! Review: Haley has dated her share of good looking men who've turned out to have major character flaws (cheating, for example). She came to the realization that is the prince charmings aren't for her and that it's time to give the frogs a try. The frogs are the nerds and geeks. These guys will treat her right. Rick is a prince charming and he has his sights on Haley. He's just moved in next door to her and asks her out. When Haley turns him down and tells him that she only dates frogs, he sets out to prove her theory wrong. Forget Prince Charming is such a fun book. Haley and Rick are such great characters and I fell in love with Natalie Stenzel's writing! I would highly recommended romance fans to check out Forget Prince Charming. Rating: Summary: An okay read... Review: Haley is sick and tired of being cheated upon by her handsome boyfriends. After discovering her last boyfriend steaming up his office with his secretary, Haley is ready to do something drastic - start dating only sweet, lovable geeks who surely won't break her heart. As soon as she makes this vow, she runs into a handsome new neighbor - Rick, the owner of a small bike shop. Despite Rick's interest in her, Haley is determined to rebuff all his attention, because Rick is a handsome prince charming type who will surely squash her heart like so many other handsome men have done. Rick, however, is ready to break down Haley's stereotypes about handsome men! The book was interesting, and there were some funny parts during Haley's geek hunting. Although I could relate with Haley's heartache about being hurt again, I just didn't like it that she grouped all handsome men as heartbreakers. Her stereotypes just rubbed me the wrong way, maybe it has to do with the fact that I have been stereotyped way too much in my life! LOL The geeks=happiness equation didn't work for me, either. Other than that, though, I did find the book to be entertaining, although a few parts in the story lagged, and the ending was predictable. Rick was an interesting character, although he had a tendency to jump to conclusions way too much for my tastes. But, if you'd like to spend an afternoon rolling your eyes and laughing a bit inbetween, here's a good book for you! :)
Rating: Summary: Cute! Review: I found the book delightful! Truly fun characters, crisp, lively writing. I'm looking forward to her next book.
Rating: Summary: A 'charming' take on modern dating Review: I really enjoyed Natalie Stenzel's Forget Prince Charming. What woman in the dating scene hasn't been frustrated by all those seeming princes who turn out to be frogs? Haley's decision to turn tables and date the supposedly less-desirable guys turned out to be sweet and funny. I can't wait to read Stenzel's Pop-up dating!
Rating: Summary: Fun, cute read! Review: I was in the mood for something light and fun to read, so I picked up Forget Prince Charming. It satisfied my thirst for a no-fuss romantic comedy in more ways than one! Haley Watson has had it with gorgeous, charming men who turn out to be awful cheaters. So she's decided to forget Prince Charming and go for the frogs instead. But Rick, her gorgeous new neighbor, will give her some love lessons and make her realize that good and bad men come in all shapes and sizes. There are some fun and memorable moments in the novel. This is a fun, quick read to indulge in with gusto. Perfect for the beach! Highly recommended...
Rating: Summary: Fun read Review: I've finally found a Flipside book that has lived up to the series description. This was a cute, fun read. A good way to spend a few hours on a Saturday afternoon.
Rating: Summary: A Real Charmer! Review: Newcomer Natalie Stenzel is not to be missed! An utterly charming romantic comedy, full of wit and laugh out loud moments. Ms. Stenzel is sure to become one of Harlequin's brightest stars.
Rating: Summary: Bleh! Review: This COULD have been a good book. It started out interesting and some parts were pretty funny but Haley started getting on my nerves and it took to long to get to the point due to something always coming in the way of them coming together. After a while (around the middle of the book) I just forced myself to finish it to get it over and done with.
Rating: Summary: Great debut novel Review: This is Ms. Stenzel's very first book and I found it utterly charming. I love the witty "chick-lit" banter. The writing style is definitely a cut above average. Haley epitomizes the dilemma of Generation X. The sexual tension was there on every page without overwhelming the story. I read it from start to finish in one sitting. I recommend it highly and look forward to more books from Ms. Stenzel.
