Summary: Promising but disappointing
Review: I really liked the sound of this book, being a romantic myself. Boy meets ghost, boy falls in love with ghost, ghost nearly dies......you can guess the rest. But it failed to deliver, there were huge jumps that occured in their relationship without being explained which really annoyed me and huge events like Lauren (the ghost) being able to feel things are skimmed over. Sadly, could have been a lot better than it actually was. Although, still perfectly acceptable for a beach read.

Summary: Not sure I want to finish.
Review: I really thought I would like the idea of this book. Getting through the first hundred pages has really been tough. I keep hoping it will get better. Someone wrote that it seems like it is a movie script for Meg Ryan and I can't help but agree. It does remind me of City of Angels but this is just plain silly. I keep thinking of I Dream of Jeannie or Bewitched. I will try to finish it. Hopefully I will be back to say that it was worth it.

Summary: Much better in French
Review: After reviewing this disappointing book for a small local magazine, I called the publisher and had them send me a copy in the original French. It was much better. Editors for the English version (employees of Pocket Books, I assume) had deleted dialogue, rearranged scenes and destroyed Marc Levy's surprise ending. I found the French version a very interesting, very beautifully written book. Unfortunately for those who only read English, reading the translated substitute is like eating Cheez-Wiz instead of Brie.

Summary: GOOD BEACH READ
Review: This was an easy "comfort" read .......... Lauren, a resident doctor at a San Fran hospital, now lay in an irreversible coma on the other side of town.........Arthur, an unmarried architect, just rented the apartment where Lauren had lived......About ten days after he moved in, while lying in bed, he heard noises eminating from his closet.......upon opening the door, he was amazed to see a beautiful lady claiming she was a "ghost".........Even though he's in disbelief, after some time, and much chatter, he believes what Lauren told him to be true - - she even brought him to the hospital to witness her body in the coma state...... Arthur and Lauren are definitely attracted to each other - each is a likeable person and there are some funny scenes, especially one that takes place in a restaurant and one that takes place in a car ..........I also liked Arthur's friend and work partner, Paul, who was a riot!! When Lauren and Arthur discover that her mother has been talked into disconnecting her life-support, they frantically try to find a way to get her spirit back into her body so she could try to come out of the coma befor it's too late...... There were times when I laughed out loud while reading this, and other times when I got all choked up.........it made me certainly wonder if something like this could happen........and, like any good romance, I loved the ending!! I must honestly say, though, that I should have waited till the paperback version rather than spending $22.95..........

Summary: This could have been a whole lot better
Review: I thought the premise of this book was interesting, but it turned out to be a little trite and with awfully large holes in the plot. I might be being stupid, but I expected a sort of metaphysical mystery, how to get Lauren back into her body ? It smacks of something that was written in order to be sold to Dreamworks and star Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. But if you would like to spend a day reading a very undemanding book then this is for you. (I'm still confused, why did she go back?)

Summary: The new "Bridges of Madison County"
Review: I am still thinking about Lauren and Arthur days after reading this book. A truly unique love story. No book of this type has touched me so much since "The Bridges of Madison County". Sure it is a bit unbelievable in parts but beautiful and heart warming all the same..

Summary: A BREATH OF FRESH AIR!
Review: This book is a wonderful change of pace from the usual storylines. It requires the reader to use some imagination in joining Arthur and Lauren in a love based on faith and trust, and belief in the spiritual side of life. It is a blend of humor and impending tragedy that is met with unfailing courage and a message of hope that miracles can, and do,sometimes occur. If you enjoy delving into the supernatural, and you want to get involved in a mood lifting type of book, pick this one up and experience the beauty of it!

Summary: hope and spiritualism in a time of unbelievers
Review: There are good books, bad books and original books. I have never read a book like this before. I do not read romance novels, nor did I think this was one, as another reviewer did. I believe in ghosts, and in the spirit, the soul. I intimately know life and death.

Although not a romance novel, this book is about love. About sharing and compassion. About an obsession about life. And retreiving one's life. It is about death, and the fraility of humans.

If you have a curious mind, if you are open to the different realities, if your soul soars, you may love this book, and you may cry. It is a walk I am glad I took.
