Summary: Sighs....
Review: I've recently discovered the fantasy/romance genre from my usual historical ones, so I was pretty excited at reading about selkies. After all, the plot sounded really interesting. Maybe it's just me, but from the very beginning, I was bored to death. On one hand, you have these two adults who are attracted to each other, but they just don't really do ANYTHING about it. Frankly, I was really turned off by the fact that the guy was really naive when it came to landdwellers (us humans) as compared to his world of sea. After all, he was able to live among us...I really had to struggle thru the book, and found it perfect for the young children to read as there wasn't anything in there that could really classify the book for adults only. Even the brief moment when they actually had sex (towards the very end, mind you) it was so vague as to leave one wondering what actually happened here. Overall, I rate this book as very sweet, but no dice in the romance department.

Summary: Amagical romanntic fantasy
Review: In 1985, Beth Caxton is swimming off of Grey Gallows Bay when suddenly she finds herself in trouble as she struggles amidst a world of seals. However, before drowning, she is rescued by one of the seals. When she awakens on the beach, a handsome man is giving her mouth to mouth resuscitation. Her father and brother misunderstand the situation and in the ensuing melee, the lad vanishes. No one believes Beth's explanation that she has been rescued by one of the selkies, a seal person.

In 1995, Beth meets Mr. Gordon, who insists he is just helping her father with some finances. Beth feels she knows him in a deja vu type of way. In fact, he is the selkie who rescued her and he knows she is his life mate. He has waited a decade for her and now he must convince her that they were made for each other. He also needs her help to save the endangered seal population of Grey Gallows Bay from the poor fisherman, struggling to make a living.

SEA SPELL will place readers under its magical spell by making everyone believe in the existence of the mythological selkie. The story line is fun, especially the efforts on the part of Gordon to make Beth believe he is what he says he is. The environmental issue adds a feeling of authenticity to the novel. Tess Farraday knows how to scribe a wondrous magical love story.

Summary: GOOD--BUT NOT GREAT READING.
Review: IT IS A NICE LOVE STORY AND MAKES YOU LONG FOR A SUMMER ROMANCE. I HAVE ONE CRITICISM THOUGH, AND THAT IS THAT TESS FARADAY OBVIOUSLY DOESN'T KNOW THAT ONLY MEN HAVE ADAM'S APPLES. BETH CAXTON COULDN'T HAVE HAD ONE.

Summary: A wonderful, enchanting sea spell is cast
Review: Lately I have had a hard time finding an enthralling supernatural romance, but Tess Farraday's book Sea Spell has been a godsend. Both Beth and Gordon are well-developed characters with interesting backgrounds and reasonable motivations. Unlike most romances, there are no flat characters in this novel. Also, the plot is well-done with few lulls. This book is a must-read for any lover of supernatural romances.

Summary: WELL
Review: The plot was okay so were the characters, my only complain was if there was alittle spice added between Beth and Gordon it would be terrific, still I enjoyed reading the book and Tess Farraday is a talented writer.

Summary: perfect summer story...gets you in the mood for summer love!
Review: The relationship between Beth and Gordon is exciting, mysterious, warm, and caring....a combination of all the things we look for in a romantic relationship of equals....as different as they are, beth and her selkie lover find romance, love, friendship and support. they live in a small town that doesn't really understand either one of them, but they have each other and for now that's enough! it is the perfect summer story to read on the beach, by the pool, at the campsite, or in a 5 star hotel! you'll love beth and gordon and "sea spell"....tess farraday is imaginative, creative and talented. she tells a good story that is well worth your time...she'll whisk you to a magical place this summer and you will be under her spell of "sea spell"....
