At last, someone the majority of the romance-reading population can identify with!"I Dream Of You" is based on the classic story of finding "a genie in a bottle." Maddie Winston is determined to save her family's floundering computer chip manufacturing company. She has big plans for success, but lately everything has been going against her. Someone is sabotaging her company, and on top of everything, her fiancé has run off with another woman. Worn out and heartbroken, Maddie retreats to her grandmother's bed and breakfast in the Florida Keys to rethink her life. Walking along the beach, she finds a bottle floating in the surf. As she polishes her treasure, the top pops off and smoke rises, forming into a handsome hunk who has no explanation for his perplexing presence other than an offer to grant her every wish. Could this be the answer to all her problems? You have to read "I Dream of You" to find out. Review: This author blends the real with the stuff of daydreams and creates a story that captured my imagination. I liked the credible heroine, who struggles with a weight problem and experiences some trouble exerting authority at her job, despite her capabilities and intelligence. Then there was the whimsical element--she finds a genie in a bottle! The story flies like a magic carpet ride. It's fun, fresh and light.

Review: Until now, I have stayed away from romance novels. As I was perusing books in the store I stumbled unto I Dream of You and decided to give it a shot. I am so happy I did. It was an adorable quick read. I stayed up all night to finish reading it. I loved th character Ben. Maddie could have been a little bit more fun though. I wish the author did not rush the charachters of Al and Haji, I wish they had a bit more of a role in the book, also the relationship that is quickly started between Al and Maddie's bestfriend. It would have been nice to have seen another book written about their budding relationship. I could see this book being turned into an adorable romantic comedy for the screen.

So she escapes to her grandmother's bed and breakfast in the Florida Keys. Then a bottle washes up on the shore, lending a whole new interpretation to the fairy tale about the genie in the bottle! A thousand years in a bottle leaves the six-foot-two inch genie with an extreme desire to please. Baffled by Maggie's refusal of his magical solutions, the genie nicknamed Ben tries to fit into the twenty-first century. Indeed, Ben knows he's broken many rules of "genie etiquette" including staying out of his prison bottle, addressing his master by name, and thinking of his master in a sexually explicit manner. Yet his special magic may be just what Maddie needs to fight the industrial espionage that threatens her company, as well as the recent damage to her heart. Tall, size fourteen Madeline Winston isn't the willow thin stereotypical heroine. Her offbeat generosity, quirky style, and intensity result in a memorable character. Ben is equally memorable in his need to please and sexy innocence. Makes me wish I could find my own magic bottle! Refreshing and entertaining, Judi McCoy's debut novel promises great things of this tremendously talented author. Highly recommended.

Review: While visiting her grandmother in the Florida Keys, a jilted and humiliated Maddie Winston finds a tarnished old bottle bobbing in the turquoise waters of the Gulf. After giving it a good polishing to see what it was made of, smoke trailed from the bottle's mouth and out pours an honest-to-goodness Chippendale-dancer-like genie. And why not? With all the trouble Maddie has had lately, what with her fiancé secretly marrying another woman, her company going down the drain, and her uncle trying to sell her up the river, the distraught CEO could use a few good miracles! What worked for me: As much as I love kilted Highland heroes, I have to say that Sultans are good too. Ben was absolutely delicious! Size-wise Maddie's fiancé was always pressuring her to diet and change her looks, and as a child she'd always lived in awe of her late mother's unparalled beauty. By the time Ben had found her she was rather demoralized where her appearance was concerned. Fortunately for her, he was quite enthralled with her curvy figure just as it was. What didn't work for me: It was hard to believe that the thousand-years-old-plus son of a sultan could drop in on modern times and swallow feminism without so much as batting an eyelash. Especially when I consider how many guys born in this era still don't get it.
I'll never again be able to read a book with even the slightest reference to the World Trade Center without being pulled out of the story. Overall: A cute, quick read for fans of paranormals and time-travels alike. If you liked "I Dream of You" you might also enjoy "Say You're Mine", "Etta Mae's Little Theory", or "Dear Cupid".
