Rating: Summary: THOROUGHLY SATISFYING & DELIGHTFUL READ Review: Ms. Busbee really knows her stuff when it comes to telling an engrossing tale.Chock full of plot, details & romance! I read this book both from a reader & an author's point of view. Every time I would think to myself, if I were writing this I'd have such & such happen--Ms. Busbee would follow thru on my hopes. No disappointments in this book. Set in Historical New Orleans, shortly after the Louisiana purchase, the people behave as they would in those times. The story centers around Micaela Dupree a beautiful French Cerole and Hugh Lancaster a handsome American. The Dupree family is quite put out when Hugh Lancaster is granted shares in the company the Dupree & Lancaster family jointly own, and discover Hugh is going to move to New Orleans. The company has been losing business and Hugh is determined to uncover the reason why. Plots abound amoung the Dupree men and their friends. Micaela's honor & reputation are compromised, a duel is fought, and lovers' secrets are revealed all in timely fashion. Micaela Dupree makes a marvelous, spirited heroine, as smart as she is sassy, and Hugh is a very likeable hero. I especially liked Hugh's tenderness and concern as well as his passionate feelings of love for Micaela. The erotically romantic scenes between Hugh & Micaela are especially well written.
