Rating: Summary: Enjoyed it !!! Review: This book was funny and witty! I enjoyed the characters they were great! As a female reader it was refreshing to read the brother's point of view. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to your next book.
Rating: Summary: Drama! Review: I decided to pick up the book because I've heard so many people talk about it. A book has to hold my attention the entire time or it gets stuck in a box with the others that bored me. This book held my attention, page by page. I know so many people like the characters in this book. There were a few characters that I wouldn't claim at all. I began to feel sorry for some of them. I wanted to kick a couple of butts, and wanted to give props to others. It was very entertaining. I passed the book along to a friend and she thought the same. She kept calling me on the phone saying, "Girl, no he didn't!" and "Oh, she didn't do that, let me read that again!" We both didn't want it to end. By the way, the ending was perfect.
Rating: Summary: Crabs in a barrel mentality Review: It's painfully obvious that there are more than a few men and women out there who can't stand to see a black man make it, inside or outside of the literary business. There is no way anyone could rate this book less than a 10. Ok, maybe a 9. The story was entertaining, insightful, spiritual, and very funny. Whatever you do, Michael, don't let these playa haters discouarge you. I've got your back. And so do all of the secure brothas and sistahs I know. Keep up the good work and keep the faith. I'll e-mail you after I finish reading your first book Never Satisfied: How and Why Men Cheat. My co-workers tell me it's the BOMB!!!!
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK SUCKS - SAVE YOU MONEY, GO SEE A BAD MOVIE! Review: I have better things to do so I won't waste my time with a long drawn-out review. Characters - 0; Storyline - 0; Cover - 0; Overall - 0! This book was terrible. Horribly written and unimaginative. Insenitive and self absorbed. What a waste of paper. I'm going to go see the movie version of this book right now - Senseless. If you waste your time and money with this nonsense, you'll be sitting right beside me. You can bring the popcorn, I'll spring for a soda.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic, amusing and definitely long awaited. Review: I really enjoyed reading this novel. A girlfriend of mine kept talking about it last year and decided to give it to me for christmas, and I am so glad she did!! The characters were believeable, entertaining and I must admit the author was very creative. I think African American males should read this novel. As an African American female, I believe that our men need to read this book and rethink their relationship strategies. Can't wait to read Michael's next book! Thanks Michael for letting us get a black male's perspective on relationships.
Rating: Summary: Interesting and Pleasurable, amusing Review: I read the book and loved every bit of it.(BR) We need more Male points of view on relationships, can't wait to read more Books by this Author...
Rating: Summary: Tells the Brotha's Side Review: This book gets 10 stars and then some!!! This brotha DID his homework when he wrote this. I could relate to alot of the situations, or at least knew other brothas who experienced the situations. Rumor has it that alot of us brothas are not really into reading, but would rather go see a movie instead. That may or may not be true, but if you stop and think about it, there aren't many books out there on the market that are tailored to the brothas to read or relate to. Maybe that's part of the reason why alot of brothas DON'T read? Most books just say that we're so f****d up and are solely responsible for all the destruction of male/female relationships, as if sistas don't have their faults for making bad choices, too. Who wants to be bombarded with negativity like that? How good it was to come across a book that keeps it real and tells OUR side. I look fwd to Michael Baisden's next book, and hope they make this one into a movie!!!
Rating: Summary: An excellent learning experience for men and women of color. Review: Very refreshing and realistic. It kept me on the edge of my seat at all times. Much appreciated accuracy goes out to Michael Baisden, he definately did his research on relationships between African-Americans. There isn't one person that can read the book and not relate to it somehow.
Rating: Summary: everyone with a pen is not a writer Review: After hearing all the publicity and listening to Mr. Baisden on KJLH speaking as if her were the guru of relationships, I expected him to live up to his own verbal hype. This tale was a dry as month old Fruit Loops. Contrived. Instead of attempting to be a male version of Terry McMillian, Mr. Baisden should've used that enery to construct a plot, and maybe a decent editor and/or proofreader would have helped too. So many errors, the biggest being writing this book, The characters were as cold as the waters that swallowed the Titanic, more product names were dropped than they do at the Super Bowl, and the women were as real as anything on the Holodeck in Star Trek -- and I'm not dissing Star Trek. Back to Basics, Michael. Take a trip down the yellow brick road, grab the Scarecrow, and drop in a place called Writing 101. Escape the flying monkeys, find a plot, a book on building believable characters, conflict, action, and suspense on the way. And oh yeah, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. That's your own reflection.
Rating: Summary: The Author Is Cool, But This Book SUCKS! Review: Black Men Won't Read for Long If They Have To Read Junk Like This! Give me a break - What the heck is this crap anyway? Michael Baisden is as cool as they come (I've seen him on TV and heard him on the radio a bunch of times). But he should stick to TV. This book is beyond bad. Characters who bored me to death, story-lines as weak as kindergarten fruit punch and a cover that lacked imagination are among the BETTER things about this nonsense. No wonder it's self-publsihed, self-promoted and self-destructive. I wanted to self-destruct when I read it and still wonder what Baisden's point was. If flipping the script on sistah's is where it's at, "he ain't even there." Note to Mike - You're cool. Why don't you get a TV show or something? Leave the books to the writers and the promoting to guys like yourself. Ever thought about infomercials?
