Rating: Summary: I really loved this one. Review: Gayle Wilson sets up a pretty daunting obstacle for her star crossed lovers. A husband who abandons his pregnant bride. A young woman who gives her child up for adoption. The way that all the mistakes are explained, the heart ache explored, and the happy ending to tie the whole thing up makes a romance that is emotionally involving with an atypical plot.
Rating: Summary: True Romance At Its Best! Review: HIS SECRET DUCHESS is truly one of the most remarkable books I have ever read. It was one of the first romance books I read and it definitely encouraged me to read more. I picked it up one night when I couldn't find anything else to read. And boy was I glad I did! Once I started, I couldn't seem to put it down. From the first scenes we meet the young lovers as they have to say goodbye. They have an unforgettable lovemaking, exchange their vows and in the process concieve the one bond that sustain and bind them forever. Nick goes off to war and Mary is left with their son and noone to turn to after her father's death. In desperation, she turns to the one man who vows to ruine her and the two men she loves most. Years after Nick returns from battle scarred physically and emotionally, he learns Mary is in need of help and goes to her rescue. After that, what begins is a plot full of twists and intrigue. They fight together to get their son back and also rekindle a love that never ended. HIS SECRET DUCHESS is one wild roller coaster that never leaves you bored for a moment. I have read it many times and will read it whenever I am in the mood to witness the power of love. Highly, highly recommended!

Rating: Summary: I would give this book 10 stars if I could! Review: I started this book yesterday and finished it last night. Its a wonderful read! Traywick's character was written so well he made my stomach turn. If you can find it, snatch it up!
Rating: Summary: Incomparable! Review: I'm not usually a fan of Harlequins, and though I read them from time to time, I usually discard them after one reading. _His Secret Duchess_ is *definitely* an exception! This book will be going in my permanent library for repeated readings. The poignant and tender tale of Mary Winters and her duke, Nick Stanton, is a prime example of Regency romance at it's best. The intensity of the love between Mary and Nick will make you weep. Watching the main characters, who've been separated by time and misunderstanding, grow together as they search for their child is touching. You'll feel you're right in the middle of the action, as if you're peeking over the shoulders of the characters. The entire book is one suspenseful roller-coaster ride after another! Nick Stanton is one of the most magnificent heroes I've ever seen. One of the best historical romances I've ever been privileged enough to read. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: A Great Read! Review: If you enjoy historicals with strong characters and deeply moving plots. I highly recommend Gayle Wilson's novels! In this particular novel, the future Duke of Vail, Nick, and Mary (a country miss) is wed in secret - a ceremony they perform themselves but thankfully record in the old church register. Their marriage is consummated that eve just hours before Nick's honorbound departure to rejoin the war. Through the years Mary stays true to Nick and anxiously looks forward to his return... It took seven long years but he finally returned...battlescarred and terribly unhappy. Through a series of tear jerking scenes, Nick gains back the love of his life and as well as the son he never knew existed. This is one of those books I just couldn't put down!

Rating: Summary: Somewhere in the middle... Review: Mary Winters harbored a secret deep within her heart. She's borne the duke of Vail a child and was determined that no one - not even the noble love of her life himself- would uncover the truth. Afire with the passion of youth, Nick Stanton had lain with Mary Winters. Now, scarred by warfare in mind and body, he feared he'd be no fit husband to his beloved - or father to the son now claimed by another man, a man whose one desire was to wreak vengeance on them all! (Back cover) A short and sweet story. I've grown accustomed to reading much longer books, but I must admit this one was a treat. It starts somewhere in the middle which is so refreshing. We are spared the usual Hero meets Heroine, fall in love, problems, make up and happy everafter. Years have passed and Mary and Nick are leading separate lives, surviving in their own way. Now fate steps in and each wants something from the other, their son. Little knowing that what they also need is each other. Mary is an emotionally strong, quite practical character and Nick hides his emotions, afraid to believe he's still worthy of love. Between them there is no spark or earth shattering moments in the usual sense, but a deep current of abiding mature love.
Rating: Summary: What an enchanting story! Review: This is the forth Gayle Wilson Story I read in the past month. I just discovered her great stories and am trying to catch up on all the regencies she's written. The only thing I regret is that the story wasn't longer. All the characters were believable and interesting, whether they were the hero or heroine, or the villian.
