I'm buying more copies to send as Christmas gifts for friends and relatives who love thrilling and thoroughly satisfying romances.

Summary: A 6.Brilliantly creative and totally entertaining anthology
Review: IN OUR DREAMS is a distinguished anthology that includes stupendous short stories that cross the vast spectrum of the romance sub-genres. Each author selected their fantasy hero from various media to serve as their role model. For instance, Sorbo's Hercules serves as the inspiration for Courtney Henke's hero. Or the LAST OF THE MOHICANS' Lewis is the role model for Susan Wiggs' wonderful contemporary.

Traits of the heroic cross all genres and are served up by an epic band of romance writers (Linda Lael Miller, Mary Jo Putney, Pat Potter, Patricia Gardner Evans, and Rebecca Yorke). All royalties from what may be the anthology of the year goes to the Amiga Trust Fund. Hopefully, the romance publishing world will allow this talented pool to get back together for sequels.

The unifying theme of the anthology: in each story an actor who's captured the author's heart and imagination becomes "the stuff dreams are made on"--the hero of the story--and what wonderful stuff it is! Linda Lael Miller's action-adventure romance fittingly stars Harrison Ford. Susan Wiggs gives Daniel Day-Lewis an affair to remember. Courtney Henke sends Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) to rescue a heroine cursed with perfection. For Patricia Potter, Kevin Kline is a gunfighter facing his last showdown. Rebecca York marries a sexy and dangerous Klingon (Michael Dorn) to an earth girl. Corey McFadden puts "Pride and Prejudice's" Colin Firth back into Regency mode. Review: The concept rocks: write stories inspired by TV and movie heroes, but don't do it directly.

Much of the writing is equally good: obviously all these authors are excellent writers.

Some of the stories were compelling, some were mildly entertaining. None were awful.

However, this book is uneven. I have a hard time imagining that any one person would love all these stories. Some of the stories suffer from being so short, and others are just not that interesting.

I loved Moon Over Miranda and Mary Jo Putney's reworking of the King Arthur tale.

Five stars for concept and two of the stories. The other stories were all 3-star and 4-star in quality, so I'm averaging it all out to be four stars.

Exciting, original, delightful, with a brilliant concept-- heroes worthy of dreams, actors whose faces we know, and characters with whom we are familiar. These threads tie the stories together, yet each one is unique and wonderful. Whoever you have secretly dreamed about will be here. The level of quality in this collection is extraordinary, there's not a disappointing page in the entire book. An incredible offering--something for everyone, and more! You'll want to buy more than one copy to give to friends. I did!
