Summary: Love conquers fear
Review: Jillian Hart has written a very nice historical about love conquering fear. Libby has corresponded with Jacob and has come to Montana to meet him and his daughter and to possibly marry. She has a secret-she was seduced and is possibly pregnant. He also has a secret-he is wanting a marriage in name only. He lost his wife in childbirth and he is afraid to love again. Can he learn to love again in spite of his fears? This story is chock full of emotion, yet isn't overdone. Very nice reading!

Review: Last Chance Bride(Harlequin Historicals, #404)
by Jillian Hart

Jillian Hart's debut novel shows a fine understanding of wounded hearts and the courage it takes to risk those hearts again.

Elizabeth Hodges arrives in Cedar Rock trembling from a combination of fear and the hope of meeting Jacob Stone and his six-year-old daughter, Emma.

Jacob's advertisement for a mother for Emma touched Libby's heart and their resulting correspondence has given her hope that she may finally have found the family of her dreams.

As it turns out, the tall, handsome blacksmith and his lively daughter are more than Libby could have hoped for. Just as Libby's dream has come so close, however, she fears that she may lose it, as she wasn't totally honest with Jacob and fears she may be pregnant.

Jacob Stone has been less than honest as well, for the marriage he offers won't include his heart or his bed. Devastated by the death of his wife, Jacob refuses to risk his heart to love or another woman to childbirth and is willing to marry only to give Emma a mother.

When Libby confesses her pregnancy, Jacob has the perfect excuse to escape the gentle woman who could easily mean too much to him. The warm and gentle humanity of LAST CHANCE BRIDE is a welcome dose of sunshine after a long winter. SWEET

Summary: A DECENT READ BUT --
Review: This story deals really well with guilt and depression. Not exactly my style.

Jacob Stone wants a mother for his six year old daughter and will offer a marriage in name only, he wants no misunderstandings - only honesty. He does not want her in his heart or in his bed. [Yeah! right!]

Libby Hodges has been corresponding with Jacob for about six months now and hopes to find a gentle, loving man. Only she has allowed herself to be seduced by her former employer, looking for love. Ha! and him being married. The deceitful cad.

Little Emma and Libby practically fall in love with each other on sight. But Jacob suddenly is backing off, Libby is younger that he thought and knew there was danger of falling in love with her.

Of course, after he backs off a gigantic blizzard decends on them and little Emma is lost in the driving snow. It is Libby's determination to find Emma that leads to them spending the winter under one cabin roof.

The interaction between the three people [grin] and the eventual rationalization of Jacob not being able to get Libby pregnant [should that stop his guilt?] lend to a special story that is well written and intriguing. [Can you tell how it turns out?]

Will Recommend - ??? different type of mail-order bride story!
