Rating: Summary: Mercy! Devil take it! And other lines on every page... Review: I can't give this book higher than a 1 rating. While I'm sure the author poured her heart and soul out into this book, I only found it laughable and predictable
Rating: Summary: Sara's Review Review: I thought this book was wonderful and if you like very romantic and true love stories this is the book for you!
Rating: Summary: not the best book i've read Review: In this book the heroine, Rebecca, and her sister travel to England, but get intercepted by a pirate called the Raven. Well let's see;what could happen next? I wonder. Could Rebecca fall in love with the Raven? Of course she does. They all do. What this author needs to do is put some mystery into the story, like in pride and predjdice. This is why I can only give this book three stars.
Rating: Summary: Great, except for the MAJOR PLOT WEAKNESS Review: Let me give you an overview of why I threw this book against the wall (other than the overuse of pet names and direct address and, oh, lots of other things). Take a man, assumably distinguished looking. Blue eyes, thick hair, bod to die for. Stick an eyepatch on him, and go to bed with him. Go to bed with him a lot. Okay, now let's have him a year later without the eyepatch. My gosh! It must be an entirely different person! Uh...no. I think the author must have horrendous vision and/or perception problems if she thinks this can play.
Rating: Summary: emotionally wonderful Review: this is the first mary kingsley book ive read and i find it amazingly beautiful..The cover may look like just any other typical pirate-plotted story but the new elements like a father who could not love his self-sacrificing daughter and a pirate hero who does not have the normal ego-laden machoism is quite refreshing. He seems almost real with his vulnerabilities as well as his abilities to understand rebecca's (the heroine) pain and wants in life. i find that the story weave in and out smoothly but i wished that the author had shed more light on what further happened to rebecca's father and her sister Amelia. Somehow i wished the father had shown some sort of regret more. All in all i love this book and hope very much that there's a sequel! or somehow an extension of another story to it with reference to Marcus and Rebecca's continued future.
Rating: Summary: An intensely romantic story Review: Wonderful settings, wonderful locations, especially the scenes set at sea. (I liked both the battle scenes and the chess scene). While I guessed immediately that Brendan and Marcus were the same, it didn't bother me. I thought the interplay between the two characters was terrifically romantic. What I want to know now is, when is Mary Kingsley going to write a sequel
