Rating: Summary: Absolutely Wonderful... Review: A Nobler hero I haven't met in a long time!!! IT is true, Guy is silent for m ost of the book. But that makes it even better--he is remaining true to his vows...his honor. The whole reason he left the court is to get away from rakes ad rogues and the spoiling of innicents. But I digress. I would weep if a man loved me enough to do what he did. He was Lady Celeste's silent champion through out her whole miserable trip in England. He stayed by her side when she leaned the kind of marriage she was doomed to. He wooed her with sweet love notes, and through mssages sent by another man. AND, he took the dream she told him she had as a child, about a knight coming to rescue her, and turned it into reality. He involved his whole family in creating her perfect knight, the Knight of the Loyal Heart, and made her every dream come true when he fought for her honor on the field. What woman wouldn't want this noble man? Celeste, too, far from being a weakling, had more honor than I would. She remained true to her promise to her father no matter what she knew was to happen. I couldn't have gone through with that! A truly sensual, loving, LOVELY book that I honestly hated to end. If you want heatfelt love, through honor and sacrifice, read this book. If you want all that, plus you would like to se Shakespeare written into every page, read Ms. Phillips' Halloween Night. Truly a delight for Shakespeare lovers! All in all, I would highly reccomend all books in the Cavendish Chronicles, starting with Three Dog Knight, then Silent Knight, Midsummer's Knight, Halloween Knight, and A Knight in Venice. Best to read them in order, as the stories unfold through each other. Very well written. Huzzah for Ms. Phillips!
Rating: Summary: breath of fresh air Review: I am glad to finally read a romance novel that doesn't revolve around sex. I have read every Jude Deveraux book and I went in search of a new author. My little sister had Tori Phillips's "Silent Knight" and begged me to try it. I am glad to say that I have found a new author for me to enjoy and I love how she reminds me of Jude Deveraux. They are the only two authors of romance novels that I will recomend to my friends. Now I say to all my friends - "Grab a Tori Phillips book, a glass of iced tea and a snack and you are set for the day." Grab a book and enjoy!!!
Rating: Summary: back of book description Review: Sir Guy had the face of an archangel... Yet his vow of silence and monkish cowl hid thoughts that would make the devil blush! For the innocent beauty of Celeste de Montcalm was a temptation that he could scarcely resist. But was his urge to protect her from the evil lord to whom she was promised an honorable one, or just an excuse to claim the lady as his own?

Rating: Summary: breath of fresh air Review: This book was the kind of silly fluff that I would let my young daughter read without a second thought. There are NO real sexual feelings or contact between the characters and the historical corectness of the setting is dubious at best. The harsh realities of child brides, medieval food and real life in general would mare this simple, light story. Despite its faults the story is warm and would be appropriate for most any age reader. I read "Silent Knight" in a day and felt quite upbeat afterwards, unlike some of the more historical romances I get involved in. I would not recomend this work for a real life look at England in the Middle Ages, but it is a good start for young or jaded readers.

Rating: Summary: fun and fast Review: While not thoroughly absorbing or heavily historical, like something by Sharon Kay Penman (what I use as my 5-star standard for an historical romance), this novel is fun, quick (while over 300 pages I read it in 2 days), and very well written (as opposed to the products of many Romance writers, like Danielle Steele, who wouldn't know a grammatically correct sentence if it hit her in the face). As a teacher of British Literature, I found myself at the end of the spring semester brain numb from the classics and needing something fluffy and whimsical just to get me focused again on reading before plunging into my much heavier summer reading list. "Silent Knight" did not disappoint; romantic without being raunchy and with just enough historical elements to hold my interest. I was also intrigued by the bio on T. Phillips which indicates that she is a participant in Shakespearean drama--this increased my appreciation and respect. Ms. Phillips also employs an int! ! eresting technique in this novel in that the novel's hero, the "silent" knight, communicates to the reader through his thoughts, but does not speak at all throughout most of the book. I also liked the use of the heroine's favorite story of the Knight of the Loyal Hearts, which she is always reading and at one point relays to the book's hero, as a backdrop and eventually a roadmap to their own romance. These techniques were something fun and different in a usually highly predictable genre. Perfect summer reading!
