Rating: Summary: Ruth Wind has surpassed herself! Review: Ruth Wind just keeps getting better and better! The hero and heroine have great chemistry, and the mystery from the past was fascinating. This book certainly deserves its nomination as an Romance Writers of America RITA finalist.
Rating: Summary: Stunning! Review: Ruth Wind, who has been a longtime reader favorite for her category romances, makes a stunning move to single-title contemporary in this incredible story. Biographer Ellie Connor goes to the town of Pine Bend in east Texas to research the life of a legendary blues singer who mysteriously disappeared 40 years previously. She has an ulterior motive, too. She hopes to uncover the truth of who her father is and believes he also came from this small Texas town. Ellie has rented a guest house from "Blue" Reynard, a man she met via the internet who has secrets of his own. As Ellie discovers more about her research subject, she learns about her own past as well. The story is finely crafted, beautifully told, and highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: In the Midnight Rain: outstanding contemorary romance. Review: The story of Blue and Ellie is simply irresistible. I enjoyed this book tremendously. It is slow, sensual, and poignant. It's a smooth blend of pure romance and fascinating mystery (What happened to Mabel? Who is Ellie's father?). The relationship that develops between Blue and Ellie unfolds first as friendship over the Internet, and then as strong attraction when they meet face to face. The setting is irresistible: a charming, small southern town, hot southern nights, blues music, orchids, and alcohol. The cast of secondary characters is varied and wonderful. Ruth Wind has written a keeper!
Rating: Summary: Terrific story Review: This book is definately a keeper. It had a terrific story, wonderful characters and a delicious romance. All you need!
Rating: Summary: A Wonderful, Wonderful Book Review: This is a book that you will continue to experience long after you finish. The book is filled with love and secrets. The secrets which are uncovered lead not to unhappiness but to more fullfillment for the people involved. Along the way, you experience the beauty and meaning of music, that special kind of music called the Blues. You find yourself wanting to hum an old song or turn on the radio and find a new tune to refuel you with a passion for life. There just is so much in this one book. It is impossible not to love it and not to remember for always.
Rating: Summary: A touching love story sung in a southern voice. Review: This is a romance and mystery combined in one--with a "knock-your-socks-off" ending. The story is a bit slow in parts, which goes with the southern setting, and is a sweet love story with a satisfying ending.
Rating: Summary: Steamy and Sensual Review: This is the first book I have read by Ruth Wind and all I can say is, "WOW"! The book was very hard to put down and I was immediately drawn into the lives of all of the characters in Pine Bend. I was captivated by Ellie's quest in discovering her past as well as solving the mystery of the disappearance of Mabel Beauvais, for the biography she was researching and writing. Wind held your attention until the very end, revealing Ellie's past and at the same time, exposing the mystery of Mabel Beauvais' disappearance. Intertwining the unraveling past of both Ellie and Mabel, combined with the steamy, sensual encounters with Ellie and Blue Reynard, had the reader not wanting to put the book down. I felt the issues going on with all of the characters were real life and one could relate very easily to them. It was inevitable that the two main characters, Ellie and Blue, would fall in love. But the anticipation by the author, and the sensual build-up made for some very steamy scenes! Yet, the issues of fear and abandonment facing one of the characters could easily be related to, which made this story come alive for the reader. The intimate encounters were very sensual and very steamy - need I say more? As a first time Ruth Wind reader, I thought the book wonderfully combined romance, mystery, and pulled the reader directly into the heart of the little town of Pine Bend and its inhabitants. It was very easy to get lost in this book and forget about everything else! (Which I did! ). I recommend this book highly and I am looking forward to reading Ruth Wind's other books.
Rating: Summary: This book is stunning Review: This is the first book I've read by Ruth Wind. If you can put this book down willingly, you are a stronger person than I. Her descriptions are excellent. Pay attention to all the characters for this is not just one story. Very emotional. It will tie you in knots. (pleasant knots).
