Review: I liked the Half-breed a little better, but I liked this one very much. Very touching and up there with my top favorite reads along with Fantasy Lover by Kenyon and Anything My Love, by Cynthia Simmons. All page turners you shouldn't miss.

Review: I've read every one of Bobbi Smith's romances. She is by far my favorite author. But when I read Lone Warrior, Smith blew me away. This is her best yet. It's about Marissa Williams, who is taken prisoner by Comanches during a raid. The chief gives Marissa to his adopted son Wind Ryder, much to the anger of the chief's own son, who has always resented Wind Ryder. Marissa soon discovers that the man she has been given to is a white man raised by the Comanche--and that she is falling in love with him. WOW! What a love story! Not only is this the classic tormented half-breed kind of romance that I love most, but the plot is action packed from start to finish. THANK YOU, Bobbi Smith, for yet another piece of top-notch entertainment. I have never met you but you look young in your photo and I'm glad about that, because I would like to be reading your books when I am very, very old. Trust me, everybody--buy this book. You won't regret it.

When Ten Crow notices Marissa he recognizes her as the woman in his visions. With everyone else left dead, the Comanche ride off with Marissa as a captive.

Ten Crow believes Marissa is an augur of peace and gives her to his adoptive son Wind Ryder, an action that angers his biological son Bear Claw who has always jealously detested his "brother". Marissa is shocked further to realize her "intended" is a white man but even more emotionally devastating she falls in love with him. He reluctantly reciprocates. When the chief dies, Wind Ryder no longer feels at home with the Comanche as his only tether is gone. He leaves with Marissa, but their adventures are just beginning, as he has one foot in either world.

LONE WARRIOR is an exciting western romance starring two strong protagonists and a deep supporting cast that includes an enticing secondary love subplot. The story line is fast-paced coming out of the chute and never slows down until the plot crosses the finish line. Yet the relationship between Marissa and Wind Ryder seems contrived as she falls in real love (as opposed to the capture-prisoner Stockholm Syndrome) too fast with all that activity that happened to her in such a short time. Still sub-genre fans will delight in Bobbi Smith's non-stop action-jammed historical romance.

Again, I warn you this is my taste only, but this book is the standard junk heaped on romance readers by publishers who really think they know what we like.

Story Plot:
A beautiful blonde virgin is taken in a Comanche raid and protected by a chief for his adopted white son. She is treated well and falls in love with the white Comanche.

I liked:
I liked the little boy Joe near the end of the story.

I disliked:
The entire ridiculous plot. Boy hates girl. Girl hates boy. They love each other and then walk away. The Native Peoples (Comanches) were depicted exactly as hollywood plastic stereotypes. That makes me sicker.

When I finished the book I wanted to:
give this book immediately to a used book store.

This book made me feel:
Angry at the garbage publishers think is good.

I don't recommend this book.

MARISSA AND ZACKS WILL STAY WITH YOU LONG AFTER YOU PUT THE BOOK DOWN. ZACK, WHO IS RAISED BY THE COMANCIE, THINKS AND ACTS LIKE HIS INDIAN BROTHERS. BUT THAT ALL CHANGES WHEN A WHITE WOMAN, MARISSA, IS CAPTURED AND BROUGHT TO CAMP. THEIR STORY WILL TUG AT YOUR HEART, AND YOU WILL KNOW, AS I DO, THAT THIS AUTHOR DOES HER RESEARCH. YOU WILL FEEL LIKE YOU ARE WALKING THE ACTENT LAND OF THE COMANCIE, AND YOU WILL GET A GLIMPSE INTO THEIR DAY-TO-DAY LIVES. I GIVE LONE WARRIOR 5 STARS BECAUSE IT'S THAT GOOD!!!

She is given to Wind Ryder as a gift because of a vision the tribes Chief, and also Wind Ryder's adoptive father, because she is to bring peace to the tribe. The surprise to Marissa is that Wind Ryder is a white man, taken as a captive as a young boy, and raised in the Comanche camp.

After denying his white heritage for years, Wind Ryder is surprised by the feelings Marissa (Shining Spirit) brings out in him, including a longing to return to the white world. After the death of his father, and a battle with his adoptive brother, Wind Ryder takes Marissa and returns her to her Uncle and the white world.

Lone Warrior is a great book. The struggle of Marissa at the Comanche camp and the struggle of Zach when he returns to the white world is written smoothly, with many supporting characters to make the book interesting. I highly recommend this book.
