Rating: Summary: The book Jade was wonderful. Review: I eagerly awaited the release of this book by Ms. Hess and I was not disappointed. The story of Jade and Kane was beautiful. She "cleans up real good". But the love affair with Jade and the magnificent white stallion was one of the bonuses for this horse lover.

Rating: Summary: A delight! Review: I liked this book. It was fun and sexy. I also love Wyoming and books set there, as in my newest favorite "Anything, My Love" by Cynthia Simmons. A sizzling page turner with a hero to die for. Any romance reader would love them both.

Rating: Summary: A job well-done by Mrs. Hess Review: This book was very entertaining. I've read it a few times over a year or two, and it's still as good as the first time I read it. Nice work, Mrs. Hess.
Rating: Summary: A job well-done by Mrs. Hess Review: This has to be the BEST historical romance I've ever read. I love the characters, especially Big John and Maria (they were such a cute couple), and I love the romantic intrigue and the way Kane and Jade hate each other at first but finally sort out their conflicts and get together. I recommend this book to ANY historical romance lover!

Rating: Summary: Mountain girl wins heart of rancher Review: This western romance is set in Wyoming in 1875, covering roughly one year in the life of the title's heroine Jade Farrow, a 19-year-old woman who lives with her uncle John in a mountain cabin in the vicinity of Laramie. When John sells a stallion only Jade had been able to tame to the 35-year-old rancher Kane Roemer, Jade's life is suddenly turned upside down. Rather lust than love drives Kane to seduce innocent Jade, resulting in a shotgun wedding against the will of them both. After a strong and interesting beginning, the book's plot gradually becomes weaker. There's no real development of the characters or their love for each other. Norah Hess did her best to bring in some elements of mystery and action -- unsolved murders, kidnapping by Indians, amnesia -- but, all in all, the plot remains weak. The interaction between Jade and Kane is minimal, that even the love scenes seem more or less sterile. One positive thing about the book is Norah Hess including one theme of the western frontier which is often overlooked. She mentions how cruel many husbands treated their wives and children, pointing out that the leading male characters Kane and John would never behave that way. Yet even that unusual theme doesn't really improve the book's quality. If not for the sensual love scenes, I would recommend "Jade" for young readers, as its style and content aren't demanding at all. Fans of western romances might want to give it a try anyway.
