Rating: Summary: Definitely for keeps! Review: Jackson Kincaid certainly sounds like a man that any woman would want to keep forever. That is exactly how Cheyennne Roberts felt. She has been in love with Jackson for what seems forever and as long as she can remember. The problem is she has been holding her feelings inside and not letting them surface. That is until she returns home at the urging of her grandfather. Jackson has been in love or what he thought was love before, but nothing has blossomed until Cheyenne is back on the scene and into his life. Jackson has always had kindred feelings for Cheyenne, but upon her return are those feelings becoming stronger as in what a man feels for a woman when the relationship goes to another level? Both, Cheyenne and Jackson, have some thinking to do and some feelings to sort out. Will what was thought of as shared friendship develop into something more? Will the feelings become love that is a forever love? A love that is "For Keeps."
Rating: Summary: AN EXCITING HEART WARMING ROMANCE! Review: Janice Sims did a fantastic job of illustrating the long-standing love Chey had for Jackson. It is often difficult for a woman to state her feelings for a man right up front as Chey did but the response from Jackson made Chey's effort worth while. This story conveyed to us how important communication is between a man and a woman. Also both Chey's mother and brother provided here with two options on approaching Jackson, I was more in agreement with the brother mainly because he was Jackson's best friend and was more in a position to know how he would respond and as for her mother her advice was being based on her experience with her father and the story reveals what happen from taking her mother's advice, however, overall Chey's longstanding love won! This illustrates to us when making decisions you must look at it on a case by case basis and see what is more suiting for your situation. Although I have never been to Montanta or a ranch as described in this book, I truly felt like I was there. You did an excellent job on this story and we look forward to your next novel.
Rating: Summary: For Keeps is one of the year's best romances Review: Janice Sims has a talent for placing African American characters where many in mainstream America don't expect to find them. For Keeps is set in Montana, where according to U.S. Census Bureau figures, the state's 3,200 African- American residents make up about .04 percent of the total population. That's a story in and of itself! Six generations of Cheyenne Roberts' family have lived in Montana. When For Keeps begins, Cheyenne Roberts is heading home. She has been summoned home from Chicago to the bedside of her ailing grandfather. She has carved out a successful accounting career in Chicago but her heart remains in Big Sky Country with Jackson Kincaid. Although she has had a crush on Jackson since childhood, he sees Cheyenne as a little sister and for him "to look upon a Roberts girl as a sex object was tantamount to incest." But Cheyenne is bound and determined to get Jackson to cross the line....within a year's time. For Keeps has a strong, respectful relationship between the main characters and a wonderful cast of secondary characters. It is told in a bold, first-person narrative that lets the readers know exactly what's on Cheyenne's mind. For Keeps is a wonderful book. I would really love to read more "Josie stories" about Cheyenne's great-great grandmother, a former slave who left Kentucky to carve out a life in Wyoming and Montana.
Rating: Summary: Romance in the land of the "Big Sky"! Review: Janice Sims has captured it all. Beautiful scenery, a strong, loving family and true romance. This is a story of "first love" pure and simple. Cheyenne Roberts loves Jackson Kincaid, and although the thought of it seems to scare him, Jackson loves Cheyenne. Theirs is a love that has been years in the making. And, as the story develops, it's interesting to see the lengths a woman in love will go to get her man. Along the way, we get to meet the family members that give them their never-dying support. Cheyenne's meddling but well meaning grandfather provides some of the most humorous portions of the novel. Her mom is a strong and nurturing woman who takes pride in the accomplishments of her children. You definitely get to know the Roberts clan as a hardworking, successful and loving African-American family. As a newcomer to romance novels, I was surprised by the depth of the characters. And, Ms. Sims' writing talents make the storyline entirely believable. This story is so full of passion and excitement you will want it to go on forever. Janice Sims paints a vivid picture of the state of Montana and the community where Cheyenne and Jackson live. Her descriptions of the land, the trees and the rivers make Montana sound like one of the purest, most beautiful places on earth. What a perfect place for first love - pure love to blossom. Read this book, and I guarantee that her written words will transport you to the "Big Sky" country.
Rating: Summary: Unlike any book I have ever read Review: Janice Sims is one of the most majestic writers of our time. She has a knack for knowing what the reader wants and needs.I have read all, save for one,of Mrs.Sims' books.None of them have the plain: boy meets girl, they fall in love, the end, scenario. The only two things these novels have in common are the writer and its own uniqueness. No two books are alike.Whether it's a love triangle,a fictional life form, some kind of danger,or maybe an old coot for a grandfather,Janice seems to obtain and captivate the readers attention. For Keeps,in first-person narrative,is unlike any book that I have ever read.It is explicitly detailed and leaves little to the imagination. The characters and plot are original. For Keeps tells the story of honor, sacrifices for love, friendship, and falling in love again. The adoration and love Cheyenne Roberts and Jackson Kincaid share for each other would make a single person crave for what could be.The characters come to life and make you feel every emotion they are experiencing. This book is awsome in every sense of the word.I'm awaiting Janice Sims' next masterpiece.
Rating: Summary: FANASTIC! Review: Janice Sims once again proves that she is a magnificent storyteller! "For Keeps" is just that...a Keeper! Ms. Sims introduces us to the Roberts, a family of ranchers in the state of Montana. Three generations reside under one roof and the supporting characters are prominent in the story without taking over the romance of Cheyenne and her first and only love, Jackson. Their story is told through Cheyenne's "voice". Ms. Sims' story makes the reader feel as if he or she were right there peeking through the Roberts' windows! She has a gift for making her readers care about the characters and the outcome of their lives. She also sheds light on a little talked about plight...that of the vanishing African-American farms......a well-written story!

Rating: Summary: TRUE ROMANCE Review: Ms. Sims did a wonderful job portraying the love of a woman for a man which will last a life time. I really enjoyed reading FOR KEEPS. Well Done! Ms. Sims

Rating: Summary: Tantalizing! Review: Ms. Sims really did her homework on this novel. I can truly say I have been to Montana without physically going. Her mind's eye is exceptionally keen. The sassiness of Cheyenne Roberts and the moral pillar within Jackson Kincaid makes for an extraordinaryly enjoyable story. I truly appreciated the family unity exhibited in this novel. This critic gives this book two thumbs up, a high five and 5 out of 5 stars.
