Rating: Summary: Cleverly written tale Review: Early in the thirteenth century, Egan MacBain vows to himself that he will gain the heart and hand of the woman he loves, the widow Glenda MacKay. Though still mourning her loss, Glenda learns she must marry again if she is to keep her lands. To gain protection, she agrees to marry Egan. Everyone feels the Scotsman is just being noble especially when he hides his feelings of tenderness towards her. Egan needs Glenda to come to him out of love not need, thus he refuses to even complete their wedding vows. To her surprise and guilt, Glenda quickly finds herself falling in love with her champion. However, as their relationship blossoms, an unknown assailant plans to destroy the loving twosome. Best-selling author Samantha James escorts her readers to medieval Scotland with this cleverly written tale. At first brush, the story line sounds like many similar tales, but Ms. James provides an invigorating plot due to the interactions and dialogue of the two main charcaters. The growing passion and compassion between Glenda and Egan heats up the pages of this beautiful historical romance that will elate sub-genre fans as the author emphasizes the romance before the pageantry and intrigue. Rating: Summary: His Wicked Promise Review: Egan MacBain had married Glenda MacKay because he thought he loved her. Though Glenda had been recently widowed, her heart belonged to her deceased husband Niall. She had looked to Egan for protection though he was prepared to offer her much more. This novel has some very sensual moments and strong conflict, but there are times where Egan comes off as boorish. Glenda isn't doing much to stand up to him or fight back when his behavior is demanding. She could have been a much stronger heroine, and Egan could have learned some tenderness here.

Rating: Summary: Unequal Romance Review: His Wicked Promise is a wonderful romance novel. Glenda is mourning the loss of her husband and her son, so she decides to return to her childhood home. Her escort is Egan, who has loved Glenda ever since she came to wed another man. When they arrive at Glenda's home, they find that the keep is in dire straits so Egan decides to stay and help the people get back on their feet again. Extenuating circumstances bring Glenda and Egan together in marriage, but can Egan win Glenda's love, or will he forever be in the shadow of the man she once loved? This book, the first I've read by Ms. James was just excellent. The characters were well devoloped and reading their love story was a pleasure. Egan was very noble and caring. The reader can feel his pain as he feels rejected by Glenda, but the book is written in such a way that Glenda's pain over the loss of her family can be understood as well. From the beginning I loved both the lead characters, and I did all through the story until the very end of the book. His Wicked Promise was well written, with a beleivable plot line, and characters that are lovable throughout the whole story. I recommend this book highly and wish everyone happy reading!

Rating: Summary: His Wicked Promise Review: If there's any kind of genre you should get your hands on, it's Romance. And if there's any kinda of author you should be gettin your hands on it's Samantha James. Her novels's are one hell of a good job and as a reader you get fasicated and stuck on it...it's impossible to get pulled away. The heroine here is on her way back to her father's land with her "bodyguard" after the horrible massacre of her husband and his family (excluding one brother) when she really starts to feel the sizziling sensation you get...that feelin. Anywayz her protector who has always loved her now wants to get to know her in more ways than one and this is the perfect time so after he has shown courage in more ways than one...fath collides and they are made husband and wife. she dosen't want it..but there's nothin she can do and he promises her that she'll definitly come to him without his enforcement...
Rating: Summary: Unequal Romance Review: This would have been better if I had liked the heroine a little more. I had read the prequel to this (I think it's entitled HIS WICKED WAYS), and I was familiar with Glenda, the heroine. However, I just hated the way she treated the hero. She was forever telling him to leave her alone (when she didn't mean it), and comparing him to her dead husband whom she loved. I felt so sorry for the hero because he had loved her for so many years, and she continued to hurt him even after he stayed to help save her keep. I don't like romances where the relationship is unequal, i.e., where the hero loves the heroine more than she loves him, or vice versa.
Rating: Summary: WHAT A PROMISE..... Review: YET AGAIN ANOTHER GREAT BOOK FROM MS. JAMES. I REALLY LOVED THIS BOOK AND COULD'NT PUT IT DOWN.. DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS GREAT READ....
