Rating: Summary: Little substance but OK hero and heroine Review: While I liked some of the interplay with Emily and Luke, for the most part this story left me feeling empty. Cora is the only source of conflict and once she moves out of the house there is absolutely nothing keeping the two main characters apart. All the problems that do pop up are too predictable leaving few if any surprises. While both Luke and Emily had sad and interesting pasts, it would seem that two strangers living under the same roof would have more difficulties before coming together. Their romance progressed too easily and seemed unrealistic. Another thing that bothered me was the way some scenes didn't seem to flow and felt more like they were there as padding--giving a "tacked on" feeling. The one thing it has going for it is some very good descriptive writing, now if the author could just manage to combine her strong writing style with a better plot.
Rating: Summary: Great story! Review: Widower Luke Becker had decided that his eleven-year-old daughter, Rose, needed a mother. He chose Alyssa Canon by her letters. However, when he went into Fairdale to pick her up, he found Alyssa's sister there instead. Emily had nowhere else to go. Her dear sister, Alyssa, had died two months before and Emily no longer worked as an etiquette teacher in a girls' school. Besides, Luke's letter said he needed a wife NOW and who better to teach proper manners than an etiquette teacher? **** Very well written! Much tension in the home and in the pasts of each character to keep roadblocks happening and Readers reading! Recommended! ****
