Rating: Summary: Lighter Shade of Brown Review: I finished the book within two days. It simply intrigued me. Though the book was decidedly a romance, it also touched on a subject most complex and tabu. I found the characters to be well developed and delightful. I also liked the pace of the story. It's a good book that I believe most readers of ethnic romance would find enjoyable.

Rating: Summary: Simply Wonderful! Review: I met Vicki Andrews during the Black Writers Reunion and Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, and was fortunate enough to get a signed copy of Lighter Shade of Brown. As one who seldom reads romance, I was immediately captivated by the strong voice of her characters and the real-life situations they encountered. Written with tight and concise dialogue, Lighter Shade of Brown was peppered with plot twists and rising tension and I could not put it down until I read the last word. It was truly a literary delight!

Rating: Summary: Too Good!!!! Review: It is something after you read one novel by an author, they deliver the second book and its just as excellent as the first. In case you have not read any books written by Ms Andrews, do so right now and its okay to read them out of order.I strongly recommend this book if not for the sole purpose of education. This plot that was developed is one that makes you stop and consider the type of products you use, because there could possibly be a hidden agenda involved with them. That is the case for this story, as an attorney named, Danithia Gilberts takes on a case representing a client who is a victim of clinical testing. The hero, who is a security officer (so we thought) named Alexander, "Alex" Powers enters the picture. From the moment he enters, this story starts moving at such a rapid speed, you keep turning the pages not wanting to put the book down. Yes, my fellow romance readers, once again it is one of those kinds of books. It is full of suspense, danger, betrayal, lies, deceit, lots of intimacy and shockers. After I finished reading this book, I told myself no more skin creams for me, when you read this book you'll find out why I'm saying this to you. I had to check and see if this was a for-real story because it sure leaves you with so much to consider to reasons why some products are developed. It's like a Hidden Agenda that is hiding in the background waiting to attack you. Well, now that I've stirred everyone up to read this book, I strongly recommend you adding this to your list of to-read books. Since this is my second book for Ms Andrews, I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next. I hope we don't have to wait long???? Check out Ms Andrews debut book: "Midnight Peril"

Rating: Summary: Good Read Review: This is my second book by Vicki Andrews and I must say that she has out done herself. The content of the book touches some very serious topics. The topic of low self esteem and racism was well written. It makes you sit and think about the things we have to face in life. You have to dig for your inner beauty. Alex was the type of guy everyone dreams to have. Although Danithia was a lawyer and he a security guard she did not hold back how she felt for him. The chemisty was very strong. Pick up this book it is very informative and you will truly enjoy it.
Rating: Summary: An Eye-Opener! Review: Vicki paints a realistic picture of an age old dilemma regarding our appearance and our plight to rectify something that is as natural as life itself. A Lighter Shade of Brown is gut-renching and emotional to the bone. I recommend this excellent read to women and men who like to ponder on those things that make you say "Hmm". Good job Vicki!

Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK, BUT THE ENDING WAS LACKING Review: Well, I hate to be the one reviewer who gives this book less than five stars, but I must. The book overall was a good read and of great quality AND it is for that same reason that I was disappointed with the latter half of the book. The ending/wrap up just seemed to all of a sudden come to an end. As readers, we were taken on this journey with Alex and Danithia where their lives were entangled in a conspiracy and at times, Danithia's life seemed to be at risk. With that type of plot and story-line, an abrupt ending was just unexpected. Basically, there was no climax when there should've been, especially with the storyline. Oh well, all in all it was a good read.
