Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Outstanding!
Review: It is said that nobody writes about damaged people like Rachel Lee- this book is the epitome of her work. Her hero Billy Joe Yuma is a Vietnam vet who has not completely re-entered society. The heroine is a woman just coming into her own. This May- December romance has incredible emotional depth. Her accuracy and sensitivity in dealing with soldiers struggling with post- traumatic stress is eye opening- she features a group of men her hero helps who have turned totally away from society to live in the wild where there is no pain. I first read this when it originally came out in 1993- it is in my humble opinion the best book in her high quality Conrad County series!

If you enjoy the work of Suzanne Brockmann or Merline Lovelace for their military themes- you should check out this series by Rachel Lee. Conrad County is not the typical western town serial.
