Summary: good entertaining tale
Review: Ten years ago, Nick Rutledge betrayed his love for Simone Lefevre by selling her father's perfume formulas to save his family's failing company. In the end, his actions cost him his love and he never regained control over his company. Simone, who abetted Nick's nefarious activities out of her love for him, watched it kill her father and destroy her father's company.

Now, he has a small vial of a strange perfume that induces sexual dreams. He wants to duplicate in order to make the splash on the world that eluded him a decade ago. Simone, feeling guilty over her part in Nick's deception, has the same perfume with the same desires. Both separately sniff the strange perfume and dream of making love to each other. Simone and Nick separately try to break down the formula, but fail. However, their efforts lead them back to each other but can they overcome their ghosts and make love without the aid of a chemical?

THE ESSENCE OF MY DESIRE is a well written novel that will be enjoyed by many readers due to its unique story line. The motives of the lead characters, especially ten years ago, is brilliantly developed, leaving the audience filled with empathy towards them. However, some readers might be turned off by the use of a chemical to enhance sexual desires.
