Rating: Summary: This book shows that true love is never forgotten Review: It is touching how they have been apart for so long, but the love they'd shared was still present. Even more amazing is how the Lord led them back together and made their love stronger.
Rating: Summary: Great Description! Review: This book is the first I have read by this author. Being an author myself (see A GREATER LOVE on Amazon), I think I probably notice a lot of things many readers may not see. Irene has a wonderful way with description, and I felt as though I could see the places she wrote about. Her writing flowed well. Her character, Maggie, was strong and everything we women want to be. She wasn't born that way, but became strong through her trials. How wonderfully realistic! But while I loved Maggie, I honestly hated the hero. I thought he was a spineless jerk. And he was. Yet we see how the years have changed him. His repentence and subsequent redemption for his past mistakes is honesty at its best. God can work miracles in the lives of His children! Unlike some novels, the growth in IT HAD TO BE YOU was realistic and justifiable. It gives us hope for our own growth. Drawbacks to the novel include quite a bit of repetition. I became a little tired of hearing how scared Maggie was to trust him again because it was said so many times. I also think a good conversation with the two girls Maggie raised, and perhaps forgiveness on their part toward the man who could have loved them as his own, would have added significantly to the plot and feeling of the novel. Over all, this was an enjoyable read, with no offensive scenes and a clear grounding in faith.
