Rating: Summary: Wonderful, witty walk on the wild side. Review: A somewhat different kind of romance. It contained almost a bittersweet feel to it evocative of Sarah Bird's The Boyfriend School. But for a short book packed a real whallap both in plot and range of emotions.
Rating: Summary: Beautifully written and highly recommended read! Review: A wonderful and intriguing story. Theresa's characters possess such depth and soul that I found it hard to put the book down. Innovative and captivating, COOL SHADE is truly a literary treasure. I highly recommend this book!
Rating: Summary: Love this Book Review: Although the reviews for this book suggested my immediate purchase, I delayed the inevitable. Something about the plot bothered me. I mean, Maddie, the penniless, DJ, who can't seem to hold down a job for any length of time seemed OK. Eddie Berlin, the Male lead, however was just not the kind of hero I enjoyed reading about in my romance novels. He's a recluse, a drunk and lives in a broken down shack of a house and requires and rather enjoys the company of prostitutes. Add to that the fact that Maddie meets up with Eddie, pretending she's a prostitute and surrendering her virginity to him while simply hoping to close in on the the last man that has seen her sister alive and well...you have my reasons for thinking this book was one I would not enjoy. Boy was I wrong! Fabulous book, interesting, well drawn characters, very romantic. A MUST READ!
Rating: Summary: An original tale. Review: Cool Shade and its character Eddie Berlin strike a special chord in me. For I to, like Eddie, have agoraphobia, so I know what it feels like. Its amazing how well Theresa Weir potrays what it feel like to have a panic attack. Then there is the dead pop star that Eddie feels guilty over. And one wonders. Did the pop star actually die? Is he still alive? And who is the actual star? I have a brother who's a band manager and has lived the life Eddie did. He doesn't like to be the center of attention either like Eddie. This stage fright might keep Eddie from his dream and his true talent.
Rating: Summary: What length would you go for a mean sister? Review: Eddie Berlin was scared of life. He was Agoraphobic. He could not leave his land. The house was run down. The grass was tall. His car had been parked for so many years it had plants growing out of the broken back window. Once he had been a song writer for a famous rock star. But the star had been shot on stage just before releasing the latest song, Cool Shade. He died in Eddie's arms. Now Maddie shows up and Eddie must try to learn to control his phobia. Maddie Smith came to town with nothing but a suitcase of clothes, a beat up car, and her cat. She had come to find her sister. All she knew was that her sister had disapeared after someone named Eddie Berlin dumped her. ***Theresa Weir's story is powerful! No punches were held back. She shows that life is not always wonderful and heros are not always perfect.***
Rating: Summary: JUST OKAY Review: I didn't especially care for this book. The characters didn't interest me too much, nor did the subject.
Rating: Summary: Catches the reader immediately Review: I just discovered Theresa Weir and have to admit that I was captivated. Her stories are easy to read and hard to put down. Just the right amount of character interaction and surrounding details. In fact, I quickly bought two more of her books on the "half-price" book market. Too bad more are not available today.
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put it down! Review: I never believe Theresa can outdo her last book, but somehow she always manages to do so. Cool Shade is as piquant and down to earth as all her work. Her characters have such depth and soul they seem to step off the pages. This story has a surprise ending that is a heart-tugging pleasure. Order it or you'll be sorry you missed it.
Rating: Summary: Different... in a good way Review: I'm tried of reading romance that have "the oh-so perfect" male lead character... this one actually has a problem. It was truly funny (which is rare to find in romances), and the author had wrote the story so well that it just kept you reading. It was the first book I've read of Theresa Weir and after reading it I tried to track down other books written by her. After reading some of her other books, I'ver realized that this is the best one. Don't miss out... this is a good read which is rare to find.
