Rating: Summary: Different type of romance. This plot is a new one for me. Review: Back cover description: A CRIME OF THE HEART. Surely the old scandal about outsider Quinn Tyler and Amishman Adam Sauder was all but forgotten. And no one knew the true extent of their "sin"--that Quinn had borne Adam's child. World-weary and hungry for a simpler life, Quinn was going home to Lancaster County. Only nothing was simple anymore. Adam still wanted her--though he damned his wanting. And Quinn yearned for him like the missing half of her soul. But his people had accused her of an unforgivable crime, and if she let Adam back into her heart, they'd find him guilty, too.Good twists and turns in this book. You really feel for both Quinn and Adam. She has tried to leave him behind, but finds she can't do it after all. And Adam has loved her forever. You are set up to think that Adam's younger brother is his son, but he's not. The ending is not your typical "and they lived happily ever after". These are adults who have made mistakes, and are trying to love and be loved. If you have read any other books by Ms. Reavis, try this one. It's different and unusual.
Rating: Summary: 1988 RITA award winner- Amish /English Love Story Review: THis was Cheryl Reavis' debut novel for SIlhouette writing under her own name. She has published numerous novels since then including quite a few Harlequin Historical titles. A Crime of the Heart is an excellent romance about a little girl who grew up in Pennsylvania Dutch country next door to an Amish family and from as long as she could remember all she wanted was the one thing that could never be- she wanted to be Amish. At 19 she got pregnant with her neighbor and one true love Adam Sauder's baby - and making the ultimate sacrifice she left him, her home and gave the baby away so he would not be shunned and forced out and away from all he knows and loves. Fast forward 11 years- Quinn Tyler moves back home and finds that she and Adam still share strong feelings toward one another and he is bitter she took away his right to choose his own path. Together now they find their way past cultural hurdles and social stigma to find a future and happiness that will last. This is a great story with an unusual and well researched storyline- it reminds me of the movie Witness with Harrison Ford. Gorgeous fields and simple living in the midst of a busy world. I have since read several other Special Editions by Ms Reavis and find her attention to detail branded on each one.
